Stayed here the last week of April for our baby moon. After a quick 10 min cab ride from the airport we were warmly greeted by front of house staff. Had a few minutes wait to check in so we went through the motions of the timeshare sale to snag a few of the coupons to spa services. The lobby is a very comfortable space with expansive views of the bay and wait staff was very attentive. We were given room 1715, high enough up for great views. Take this advice, ask for a room closer to the NOW side, the roosters will drive you nuts if you want to sleep in during your stay. We were actually OK with this because it forced us to start our day at a decent hour. Can't blame the hotel for this as the roosters are not on their property. The room was very well outfitted with quality bedding, linens, furniture, thick curtains, GREAT SHOWER, plenty or storage, iPod dock and plenty of options in English on the TV. The porn channel was a nice touch as well (ch 36). Made use of the gym every morning, 3 treadmills, two elliptical, two stationary bikes, free-weight and nautilus equipment, exercise area, plenty of towels/water and there was always a staff person in there maintaining the area. Some mornings it was busy and full, other days you could jump right on the machine you wanted to use, really no different than any other hotel. Service throughout the resort was very consistent, wait staff at the restaurants and beach/pool area were efficient and hospitable. Plenty of options for eating. We did not eat any place more than more than once. Our fav place was the Italian, every day we had lunch either poolside or on the beach. The Barefoot Grill was actually or favorite, the chef there was very accommodating. That being said, IMO the food in general did come across a little on the bland side at all the restaurants, room service same deal. As for entertainment they did a good job, live music in the lobby and movies poolside every night, plenty of day activities as well around the pool. Being on the Secrets side, never saw children, and that was by design for this trip (last time!!). Splurged and got he wife a prenatal massage ($40 coupon from the timeshare schpeel) which she raved about. Had we wanted to get a stander massage, would have opted for the beach vendor or one of the places outside of the property as they were about 1/2 the price. Never had any issues with the beach vendors, yes they do try and get your attention, but a "no gracias" works fine, gotta remember they are trying to put food on their tables. Was a little puzzled by the rooms with the swim out pools (sun only later in the day) or the preferred tower (not that great of a view). We did the Preferred at Dreams before and did not think that we were missing much. Wi-Fi was a decent on the beach, good in the lobby and very weak in the room, was OK with this as we needed to disconnect. Walked to old town PVR which is about 20 mins with no safety issues. Also were very lucky to see a great show put on a whale about 100 yds off the beach, which was VERY cool to see. Overall a great physical property, very good service and average food. Will go to Secrets again and would recommend the property, keep in mind the roosters.

Room Tip: Ask the front desk staff to put you away from the roosters

To be honest there is really nothing to complain about. We stayed at Secrets PV from May 3 - May 10 and had the very best time ever! The only thing that I would mention is that the internet at times can be slow, but it's free. Plus you're on vacation so why does it really matter. They allow free phone calls throughout North America so we were able to call home and talk to the kids as much as we wanted free of charge. AMAZING - what other resort allows that?

The hotel grounds are so beautiful and the entire property is extremely clean. It's relaxing and romantic and we cannot wait to go back. The service is absolutely outstanding. Everyone bends over backwards to take care of you. The food is very good and the drinks are fabulous. You will want for nothing when you're there. We were in room 2013 on the 10th floor and it was a fantastic view of the ocean.

We went into town twice and we walked both times and felt very safe. We had massages at "Healing Hands" which is just outside the hotel. They charge $50US for a couples massage and it was very good.

I don't know why anyone would have anything bad to say about this place. We had an amazing experience and would go back in a heart beat.

Don't question it - just go and enjoy it!

We stayed here at the beginning of March 2013 with another couple. This resort is fantastic! I read all the reviews before booking and was needlessly concerned about a few things. The staff is super friendly, attentive and work hard (tip them!). From the moment we walked in, we felt relaxed. Upon check in we said we weren't interested in hearing about their program when they started talking about it and that was that. We never felt harassed. The rooms are very comfortable (and large) and the showers are incredible. Everything is super clean and new all over the resort. The food is actually really good for an all inclusive- we were pleasantly surprised. The weather was beautiful with only 1 day being overcast. Other than that it was between 81-86 degrees with a nice cool down at night. Since we went during spring break, we wondered if that type of crowd would be there. Fortunately, it wasn't like that at all. I would say it's a pretty quiet resort which was perfect for relaxing. The ocean wasn't really swim-able but the pool is great and looks right out on the ocean. It was actually kinda nice to never have sand all over the place in our room. Out of the 3 pools only one seemed to be heated, but there was always room in there. We tried all the restaurants and the only one that wasn't great was the Mexican one- the service was a little off on the night we went. The gym is a little small but we made it work. They could use a couple more elliptical machines.
All in all, we would come to this resort again.

Beautiful hotel and the staff went out of their way to make our trip amazing! We had the Honeymoon package and they surprised my husband with a birthday cake. Everyone was extremely friendly, the restaraunts were delicious (especially the Tepanyaki grill Himitsu next door at NOW). There were games (beach volleyball, tequila volleyball), free Kayaking, all you can eat and drink. We will definitley go back! If you go to the area, you should also check out the "Rhythms of the Night" dinner and show!

Staeyed at Secrets Vallarta Bay in April 2013 with 6 girlfriends. The facility is beautiful and new. Rooms are spacious with most having a nice ocean view. The food was very good and the selections of restaurants were nice also. Even had a coffee shop for the morning. There were many activities, going on and a special show every night. The resort is very conveniently located less than a mile from downtown....so walking distance. The staff was attentive, very kind and friendly. Although the property was sold out when we were there we were able to find chairs by the pool everyday without arriving early in the morning. The beach is a bit rocky but that is th norm in Puerta Vallarta. I would highly recommend this property and would go back. I have stayed at a few other resorts in the general vicinity and found this to be the best by far.
