We ate at Bella Napoli right after they opened and were seriously worried that they might not make it. The location isn't great - central enough, but basically on the side of a parking garage fully exposed to heavy traffic. The food and service were great when they first opened, and our meal tonight shows they've done nothing but improve.
We've been lucky to travel extensively in Italy, mostly on business trips with locals showing us around, and have spent weeks at a time exploring regional cuisine there. Bella Napoli gets the important things right: attention to ingredient quality, precise cooking, and most important of all keeping alive the infectious joy about food, people being together and simply being alive that are quintessentially Italian.
The pizzas are the stars here, and as in Italy the simpler the better (don't miss their version of the classic Margherita). Good salads, tempting pastas and the kind of carefully selected, fairly priced wine list that you almost never find in Mexico - with wines served at proper cellar temperature - add to the experience. The staff is all bi- or tri-lingual, kind and attentive, and the Italian owners running the show (and it is nothing else) will keep you entertained with their banter.
The overall experience here is one of the best we've had in any restaurant in North America, and to have it in a touristy beach town is truly amazing. Don't miss it if you love real Italian food.
