Can you tell us why this has occurred? Many are wondering about it. It is such a lovely place, its a shame to not be able to share it with everyone.

“Stopped in on our way to Canopy River”
Reviewed February 13, 2013

Went on a private tour with Juan (who is the brother of Chewy who owns this place) and stopped in for a drink and something to eat. Really nice place, on the river, had some fantastic shrimp there and enjoyed meeting and visiting with Chewy. Nice people, great food!

“Not as good as last year”
Reviewed January 19, 2013

Clearly, I'm the lone wolf here in thinking this restaurant has gone drastically downhill from previous years. I've always enjoyed it in the past, and indeed, the beer is spectacularly cold and the quacamole is delicious. But I ordered the shrimp quesadilla (which came with octopus in it - what a surprise) and a chicken quesadilla. Both were completely tasteless. And I don't mean sorta tasteless - I mean totally tasteless. The service is good, friendly, wanting to please. It's just the food that's really failing the taste test. Yes, great location, right on the river. Husband had the mixed grill plate - he said it was average, but the steak was a big disappointment. So, maybe I'm weird, but I don't plan on going back. And right now, the bridge is out so you have to walk about a mile and a half to even get to the place. So not worth it.

“Beautiful Setting; Good Food”
Reviewed January 11, 2013

We recently visited Moro Paraiso in order to get out of the city. As we were driving slowly by the restaurant, a waiter in the doorway said, "Yes, this is the place." I imagine others have difficulty finding the restaurant, but it is well worth the effort. We went in and had some very good nachos and very cold drinks. The prices were reasonable. The waiters were friendly and efficient. Some reviewers mentioned mosquitos, but we did not notice any.

This restaurant is located on the Rio Cuale in the countryside about six kilometers from downtown Puerto Vallarta. The river and the forest are very tranquile and beautiful. There is very little traffic on the road, the city bus, #4, only runs to Paso del Guayabo. That is several kilometers north of the restaurant. The road is fairly rough, although they are extending the paving. The restaurant's website has a map. Unfortunately, it doesn't show distances, but the landmarks are helpful.

“Great food!”
Reviewed December 28, 2012

Seven of us ate a variety of meals and everyone raved about their meals. We did a horseback ride with Rancho Riders stopping here for lunch. The service was friendly and helpful. Everyone was well pleased with the food and service. Recommended particularly when you can park your horse out front.

“WOW …again!”
Reviewed October 27, 2012

Moro Paraiso is a gem of a restaurant – really a roadside cantina. I was here almost a year ago and was quite taken by the setting. While the newness or novelty is gone for me; the charm certainly hasn’t.

It’s off the beaten track but nothing that a 50 or 60 peso taxi ride from Centro can’t fix. For the more adventurous the #4 bus will bring you most of the way – the last ½ kilometer or so is an easy walk on the new (under construction) road.

The setting is quaint and the river moderates the temperature so it’s quite comfortable. They supply bug spray, but that wasn’t an issue during this visit.

I would describe the cuisine fresh and local; the Guacamole was made to order – the avocados were warm. We had the Chorizo and Ribs entrees; both were excellent. We had Margaritas; one with the traditional tequila and the other with Raicilla (rye-see-ya) an over proof Tequila. Careful, these guys are very generous with the booze.

The service is friendly and attentive. Make sure if you arrive independent of a tour that they know that as you will get the locals’ menu – tour operators demand a kickback for bringing business. Unlike a previous reviewer we received an itemized bill.

If you’re looking for a hidden gem in a natural setting that has great, authentic food and excellent prices – this would be your kind of place.
