I recently took the "Untouristed" food tour at Vallarta Eats and absolutely loved it! It was great to get off the tourist path and experience the foods that locals eat. Every stop was something different and delicious: many varieties of tacos, a seafood soup, the best chicharrones you have every tasted, and more. We experienced a local market, visited a graveyard, and saw the tortilla making process in addition to trying our hand at making our own. Our tour guide was very knowledgeable, had interesting stories, and impeccable english. It was a great exposure to the local culture - I can't wait to come back and try another one of their tours.

This was our second tour with Vallarta Eats. We tried the new "Untouristed" tour which took us through the streets of 5 December neighbourhood, where tourists don't often explore. Our guide, Manuel, was knowlegeable and generous, and made sure we all had a great time. He introduced us to proprietors of small restaurants and taco stands, and explained how each of the foods was made. We definitely tried some things that would never have eaten by ourselves - mostly because we did not know what they were. We're here for another week and will definitely explore this district some more, and return for some more delicious, inexpensive, and authentic food. An extra note about Vallarta Eats customer service: When our flight to Mexico was delayed 2 days, we had already pre-booked the tour for day 2 of our visit. I emailed Vallarta Eats, and owner Eric kindly re-booked us for the Friday tour, so we would not miss out. This company clearly takes care of its customers! Top recommendation!

When you visit town...this is a MUST DO delicious experience! Don't miss THIS real Mexico experience. Come very hungry...your taste buds will be thrilled! Abel, our local food guide (worth requesting) was passionate about sharing his town. At a street taco factory Abel even showed us how to know if a taco is 100% corn and how to roll it up a split second by hand (like he did as a young boy after school.) Mmmmm Good!

We have been to PV a couple of times and gazed longingly at the taco trucks, but were reluctant to try one without knowing what were doing. Abel's tour of multiple trucks and one incredible in-home kitchen experience was GREAT and thoroughly satisfied our curiosity. We put aside our vegetarian/vegan preferences for the night and enjoyed all that the tour had to offer. Abel was a terrific guide/English speaker, knowledgeable about the food, great tour photographer, and happily willing to answer our miscellaneous tourist questions and engage with our musings. Owner Pilar followed up promptly as promised with a link to free photos and a list of where we'd been, so that if we were staying in town, we could easily go back. Highly recommend. Wish we were staying longer and could have done another one of their tours!

Fabulous! We did tasting of Vallarta tour with Paz and couldn’t have been more impressed. We would never have found these fantastic restaurants on our own or known what to order. The food was above and beyond. I can’t wait to go back to Layla’s for the oysters and the roasted stuffed pepper with pomegranates/cashew cream at No-Way-Jose’s. Along the way, Paz was able to tell us history of the areas. El Arrayan has sauces that are available for sale and I am going to return for a cooking class next trip. And, they mean it when they say “come hungry “.
