“Best Tour in Puerto Vallarta”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed January 20, 2012

This is a company started by Eric Wichner who also leads most of the tours. The premise is a tour of the food carts we all see on the streets of Puerto Vallarta but have hesitated to eat at for one reason or another. Eric personally pre-explores each of the stands on this tour and checks for cleanliness, food safety standards and, of course, taste. We had wonderful carnitas, cabesa tacos, more little bits of this and that, a tortilla factory where the process starts with dried corn and on through the whole soaking/grinding/cooking process for the freshest, best EVER tortillas. We went to a butcher, one of the few left in PV, with fresh hogs ready to be turned into pork goodness. Eric was fun, knowledgeable about PV and had lots of fun behind-the-scenes stories to share. We basically ate our way from food stand to food stand and took notes for return visits privately. Had no problems pre-arranging this tour with Eric from California via his email: eric@vallartaeats.com. Don't miss this fun, memorable tour!

“Lots and Lots of great food!”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed January 18, 2012

We went on the evening walking tour. The weather was perfect and so was the food. Some of our group actually live in Vallarta, but they still met with new restaurants. We tried Pozole, tacos, tostados and more. Each place treated us to their flavored water of the day and it was interesting to compare the various restaurants this way. We were very happy with each of the places that we ate at. Our tour guide was friendly and knowledgable. She shared many interesting facts with us, as she moved us efficiently from venue to venue. This tour is well priced. We were given, and ate, more food, than we should have. I definitely want to try their other tour!

“A great experience-not to be missed”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed January 18, 2012

We took the Vallarta Eats food tour based on Trip Advisor reviews and we were not disappointed. Eric met our taxi and then gave us a description of what the tour would be. like. Our guide Anna was very good and also filled us in on the history of the different dished that we tried. I think we tried at least a dozen different authentic mexican foods and each one had very fresh ingredients and tasted great. The hibiscus water, rice water and tamarind waters were all very good too. All portions were very nice and we were very full at the completion of the tour three hours later. My husband and I have gone on many food tours in many destinations and this tour was one of the best we have done.

“Eat like a local - Experience the splendid food of Puerto Vallarta”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed January 17, 2012

My wife and I did both the day and evening tour with Eric. We highly recommend both tours as they were one of the highlights of our entire trip. Eric has lived in Puerto Vallarta for over 7 years and along with his foodie staff have selected the best local eateries for visitors to try.

Most of the eateries are family businesses that have been in operation for decades (some for 30+ years) using recipes handed down from one generation to the next. The food is very fresh and delicious. What I enjoyed most was trying food beyond the typical taco and quesadilla; dishes I wouldn't have even known existed or how to order them.

The tour opened up many new dining choices for us. We took the tour early in our trip and re-visited several places in the days that followed. On our previous trip to Puerto Vallarta we were a little hesitant about trying the street food, but not really satisfied with the tourist row of restaurants. The tour allowed us to be more adventurous with our dining options and allowed us to taste the best of the local food.

There is a lot to try on both tours, but the main difference is the day tour will take you to approx 10 venues trying one item at each place, and the evening tour takes you to approximately 5 venues and you get to enjoy 2 to 3 items at each place.

Eric was very friendly and was great to converse with over all of our meals. He provided us with a lot of valuable info on local customs. We feel as though we have made a friend in PV. Highly recommend this tour if you want to try some authentic local food and want to experience a slice of old town PV. The tours max out at 6 people, a nice small group and a great value for participants.

“Best Tour Ever”

Feel lucky meeting Eric the brains behind this interesting ,fun filled ,yummy tour by chance at a morning coffee shop.he was so enthusiastic we had to do it and it was a home run
Martha our tour guide not only took us to restaurants,a taco stand and a candy store that we would have never gone on our own ,she gave us a lot of info that made our 2 week stay in Puerto Vallarta much more interesting and exciting
We highly recommend this 6 pm evening 3 hour walking ,eating tour early in your stay and next time we are here we will do the lunchtime taco stand tour..all of the food was delicious and memorable and has given an expanded appreciation of Mexican food and culture..4 Yums Up
