“A Huge Mistake”
2 of 5 bubbles Reviewed April 5, 2013

We were not greeted when we entered the restaurant. That should have been our first clue. The two waiters and one waitress paid no attention to the food that was put up in the window for service as they were playing with an infant who the waitress had brought to work. Our food arrived to our table cold and the only shining star of the evening was the Sangria. Authentic from Spain. One of the waiters was wearing pajama pants and the other in cargo shorts. There was a third man dressed in jeans, t-shirt and sneakers but he could have been a friend. He did serve food to one table but spent most of his time with the waitress and baby, who I never saw with a plate or glass in her hand all evening. The foodf was either over marinated (for days) or tasteless. I would not go back. Take my word for it that Barcelona Tappas is a much better bet.

“Delicious and Affordable Tapas”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed March 27, 2013

We have been coming to Puerto Vallarta for years but this was the first time we have tried La Pena Andaluza. It was a fabulous discovery! While waiting for our order, they served us the Spanish omelet. It was tasty. The tapas offered in two sizes, were delicious and affordable. We went three times, tried a variety of tapas and ordered the paella as recommended. The service was good and it's location near the river adds to its attraction. It will definitely be added to our list of restaurants to go back to next year.

“Just go!”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed March 17, 2013

Everything about this restaurant is fabulous. The owner is extremely welcoming, especially to families. He provided us with lots of samples to taste and I think we ultimately ended up ordering most of the menu, all for under 1200 pesos! The view overlooking the river is relaxing and pleasant and the food is incredible. Definitely a highlight on our trip.

“Wish I could have eaten at La Peña Andaluza every single day I was in Puerto Vallarta!”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed March 5, 2013

We discovered this fabulous restaurant on day 8 of our 10 day trip and ate there 3 days in a row. We made darned sure it was our last meal in PV; and believe me, it will be the first place we eat when we go back. We adored every aspect of our La Peña Andaluza experience. The décor is simply charming and the terrace tables allow for great people watching as they look out over the market along the Cuale River. Their tapas menu, shaped like a Spanish fan, gives all sorts yummy options. You can order a small portion of tapas for as little as $20 pesos, and if you like it (AND YOU WILL!) you can always order the larger size at $60- pesos. The value is amazing. But the food…the fooooooood …they haven’t yet invented the word for how good the food is. Amazing! Scrumptious! Delicious! To Die For! None of these words do their food justice. Need I say more? Probably not, but there is one more piece of the La Peña Andaluza experience that made it extra special for us and that was the people. This restaurant is owned and run by the loveliest young family! In our 3 days of visits we got to know Diego and Rita and their charming little daughter Greta and well…they stole our hearts. They are just so real and open and warm and lovely! Aha! No wonder the food was so good, eh? Nothing like food prepared with love! Please make the effort to find this restaurant when you visit Puerto Vallarta. You won’t regret it. Then when you go home, like us, you can tell all your friends that the best thing about Puerto Vallarta is La Peña Andaluza!
