Restaurant was one of the new trys for us in PV. The tapas were good (the sea bass excellent) and the young man serving us was wonderful. The sangria was the highlite of our dinner, not too sweet and at reasonable price. The cost of the individual tapas is 20 pesos ($1.80) each with the larger portions at 60 pesos, The 2 of us had a great meal for a total of 300 pesos. This is a definite keeper for us.

We just ate at a very new restaurant called La Pena Andaluza, which is located at Morelos 101 on top of Santaner Bank just before the river Cuale bridges. It's such a pretty setting. You sit just above the river Cuale and it's so peaceful and very pretty. The food was fabulous. We love pealla, and this pealla was better than Barcelona Tapas. Actually ALL the food we ate there was better than Barcelona's. My husband is very picky about his food, and he just loved this place so much we went back twice in two weeks. We had their marinated pork brochettes, and they were delicious too -- not fatty at all, just pure juicy pork. We also had their garlic chili shrimp, and we fought over the last crisp, juicy one. You really should try this place because it's one of the best new places in Vallarta. We've been here for two and a half weeks and have been to many places, but this place is worth writing about. Very reasonable prices too. You can buy tapas from 20 pesos to 60 pesos -- a good amount of food and very delicious. The service was impeccable. They were very attentive without being intrusive. It was a very peaceful setting with a beautiful view of the river cuale. The food was fabulous. Try it once and you'll be back like we were.

La Pena Andaluza is a WONDERFUL addition to the PV dining experience! We've been coming down here for more than a decade, and we are delighted that friends introduced us to this great little tapas restaurant near the Rio Cuale. The tapas and paella are terrific, and the Sangria is delicious and refreshing. Two favorite tapas: the Spanish style potatoes and the chorizo sausage in red wine sauce - don't let them take away the plate until you've dunked your bread into every last drop of the gently sweet/savory wine sauce! The family that runs the place couldn't be nicer, and the second floor location on the north side of the river makes for a very nice, casual atmosphere. Prices are extremely fair, too, especially for such delicious food - this is a really great value. What a GEM!

My wife and I visited La Pena Anduluza the last night of our stay in Puerto Vallarta, 11/17/12. As many reviews stated the restaurant was empty, but the food was fantastic! We shared 5 tapas and the paella, all which as good as promised! Total cost including 2 glasses of wine each came to $40 USD. The food was delicious and the price was right! If you are looking for great Spanish food, this is your place!

I read a lot of great reviews for this place so decided to try it. We went about 6pm on Sunday and were headed up the stairs and a family was coming down. The man said we are closing. Nothing else and not very nicely said. I looked it up later and saw they closed at 6 on Sunday and all day Monday. So, we decided, after all the great reviews to try it again today. We decided to order a paella and several tapas. The tapas were chile shrimp, tapenade, and pork brochette. They were all good but barely a bite for one, much less two. We were given two extra tapas, spanish tortilla an a green bean tapa. The also were good. The paella was okay. The clams were not good at all, the mussels were fine, but the crust was not a socarret, but burned rice. The service was fine, but don't think I will go there again
