Our second vacation there, enjoyed it as much as the first. We have to thank all of the staff, but have to mention Pablo 6 as the best waiter / bar keep / personal attention attendant and overall service provider.Gave sleep quality low score only because the surf is loud and we enjoyed every second of it! That's what vacation is all about. Looking forward to returning again!

This was our second stay at Sunset Plaza. We were there last year and it was lovely, and also at a great price. This year the price had doubled and it was almost a dealbreaker, but in the end we knew we really wanted to stay there and tried not to think about the price. Realistically, for what you get, it isn't overpriced, we just got spoiled by a great deal last year. The resort is beautiful, the rooms are very, very clean and well- appointed, and a big plus is that all the rooms face the beach. The staff is exceptional - so friendly and helpful. Really an excellent experience. We do not do the all-inclusive option, as we prefer to have more freedom of choice.

We heard from a couple of sources that a big expansion plan is in the works, that would triple the number of rooms. This was not happy news, as a huge part of the charm is that it isn't one of the mega-properties. Selfishly, I hope this happens at Mexican speed (and I say that with a great deal of affection) or not at all. It is just perfect as it is now.

Sunset plaza
First thank you for all your comments at trip advisor. The hotel is beautiful cleanliness exceptional staff extremely friendly especially Wendy at the reception and Humborto and Enze at the breakfast and lunch service. Beach and water very nice for swimming and a good/clean gym. All inclusive was what we had and the presentation of the food was very nice ( a la carte no buffet style !!!!) and after 5 days it was getting old to eat from the same carte for all three meals. One thing to remember is, they charge you for everything after your checkout (noon). after check out they can store your luggage and they have a nice room to take a shower and change before you are on your way to the airport.

We enjoyed our honeymoon for 9 days at Sunset Plaza and I was very pleasantly surprised. We were greeted with champagne when we arrived for check in and had a beautiful suit that felt like our own apartment for the week. Although there is only one restaurant for breakfast and lunch (two for dinner) on the property it had good food and felt personal getting to know the different staff members through the week. All the employees were very nice and accommodating. I would recommend Sunset Plaza if you're looking for a great place to relax and enjoy some drinks by the pool.

We are a family of four (two boys ages 11 and 13) and had the pleasure of staying at Sunset Plaza from Jan 29 -Feb 5/14.

We have been fortunate to travel a fair bit and have stayed at several All-Inclusive resorts on both Mexican coasts. This year's vacation was one of the best we've ever had.

We were personally greeted by the manager as we got off our shuttle bus from the airport. We were shown to the reception desk and a butler came and gave us some sparkling wine and had orange juice for the boys. We got our wrist bands (fabric, by the way, so no sweaty plastic!) and the butler showed us to our room. He expained everything we needed to know about the hotel and one of the bellmen brought up our luggage right away.

The food was really great, so don't worry about not having a buffet. There was a good variey of menu items and we had no problems finding something for everyone to enjoy. The food was fresh, hot and beautifully presented. The portions were just right, and we never felt like we over-ate (more room for the delicious cocktails!). We ate mostly at El Mirador, the main open-air restaraunt that seves breakfast (best French toast ever), lunch and dinner, but did eat dinner twice at the Italian restaraunt as well. We had a few lunches at the deli, which had really great panini sandwiches, salads and some desserts that you could eat in the deli or they would serve it on styrofoam plates so that you could eat poolside. There is also a poolside menu that you can order from your chair and they will bring it right to you while you lounge or you can choose to order right at the pool bar and try a snack while in the pool. Nachos in the pool were a favorite of my
boys.

The staff were all wonderful and really went out of their way to make our stay enjoyable. No poolside chairs (there are chair hogs)? No problem, the staff would carry some down from the hot tub area. There were a few times when we didn't quite get what we ordered, or the waiters would forget to bring us our drinks as we ate. Get over yourselves, complainers! You are on vacation and those people work hard, long days and yes, mistakes happen. Who cares? Just kindly ask again and you'll be looked after. End of rant.

Tip-If you leave your phone chargers or curling irons, etc. out, we were amused to find that our maid would do this weird coiled up wrappy thing with them.

Do yourself a favor and get a massage from Moises under the palapa near the ocean…HEAVEN!
Also, take advantage of the inclusive activities during the day. Luis is a wonderful activities director and has yoga, snorkeling, kayaking, cooking demos etc. all day long. The hotel needs to promote the guests have no way of knowing except when Luis comes around and informs them. The hotel needs to support this and him with signage.
