I was here for the Aztecaspirit peformance on Feb 4th, 2012. It was my first performance seen at the Teatro. It is a modern facility. The stairs into the venue are quite steep, as well as the seating. If you have mobility issues this may NOT be the place to visit unless you are seated below near the stage.

“Oh Vallarta...”
Reviewed December 17, 2012

PV doesnt' have much in the way of culture. I've gone here for a couple of ballets and unfortunately Mexicans love to take flash pictures during live performances. It's distracting and if you are a gringo, it'll upset you. Don't bother going for any fine art performances. Concerts and Fandango are fine. FYI, the ballets are pretty 3rd rate.

New performing arts theater in Puerto Vallarta. Offers a variety of excellent entertainment -- have seen Russian Bolshoi Ballet and great violinist here. Beatle Mania is an upcoming performance in February 2012.

Fabulous that Puerto Vallarta has a wondrful theatre for dancers & performers. My husband took me here for my 50th birthday; it was a great date. Not many people in the audience, just a few tourists. Hope this entertainment theatre remains open. There is a lot of talent that needs a place to perform. We saw fabulous costumes, dancers & performers. It was a bit pricey, therefore we only attended 1 show. Look forward to returning to see new talent. "Bravo", Puerto Vallarta for a fabulous venue. The Show Must Go On!!!

“Fire safety issues mar this long-needed theater”
Reviewed July 14, 2010

Teatro Vallarta is a long needed venue for stage plays, symphonies, opera and dance. Residents welcomed it when it opened in March 2010. However, when I attended a play there, I came away very concerned about fire safety.

You can see a picture at tinyurl.com/2d5syd4

There are no exits on the sides of this 960 seat theater. There seem to be no fire exits at the back of the auditorium either. The only apparent exits are between the stage and the seating area. There are two doors at the back of the seats but they are not labeled as exits and look like utility access. All the evacuation route signs direct the audience down very steep aisles toward the stage. There are no hand rails on the aisles, even on the side aisles where they could easily be installed. In an urgent evacuation, there would be falls.

If a fire were to break out in the stage area, it would be very difficult to evacuate the audience safely. The audience would be directed to evacuate toward the fire.

This is very surprising. All the movie theaters in Vallarta have plenty of exits in multiple locations. I didn't see them at this theater. I hope it is just a matter of poor signs.

If you choose to go, you should be aware of this situation.
