Rooms, service, hospitality, amenities, food choices, pools, beach access and walking distance to all that is worth visiting in Puerto Vallarta, made this a memorable stay for me and my friends. Great worth for the price.

I have been staying here for a long time. I would give this Five Stars but I am tired of being attacked by the sales people to buy a time share.

This a is very clean and friendly place to stay. The food is really good and the buffet breakfast is excellent.

I like walking into the main part of town from here during the day light. Take a taxi back at night and to the restaurants. This town has the Best Food anywhere. There are so many restaurants that deserve five stars it is ridiculous. The prices are great but you need to ask where to go.

Some of the restaurants are off the beaten path. They are in the hills. Find them and you will not regret it.

Enjoy your trip.

Room Tip: I think all the rooms face the ocean (West)? High up is better and a balcony is awesome.

I stayed at the vacation club side of the resort . This entire resort has beautiful grounds, and the pools are awesome. As far as the rooms go, I initially was booked into what was 1/2 of a Presidential Suite. Note that the Presidential Suites have two doors inside of one Key Carded entrance. One side is basically a bedroom with a Queen bed and two chairs (which are very uncomfortable). The other side has a Murphy bed, a small living area and a kitchen. Being on the bedroom side is not good. There is no refrigerator, and the bed is uncomfortable (beds are on concrete slabs instead of box springs). If you are booking through RCI they will be nebulous with what you are going to get. Pick a Junior Suite, and you will be happy. I attended the time share presentation, and the ladies offered to help me out to get a better room. I paid for the upgrade ($55.00 US), but when they found out, they got it changed for me to $20.00 a night. One thing you will notice, is that the culture of service is very good. If they tell you they will do something for you they will. All of the staff is very friendly. They are not over the top, but they are friendly and genuine. In other words, don't expect to be catered to but to be waited on efficiently and with a smile. The food was OK, but it was nothing spectacular. The location is fantastic because you can literally walk to anything you need. It was a bonus to have the Mega store a few blocks away and downtown within walking distance as well. As everyone says, the beach is really not the place to hang out. It is rocky and the water is rough. Don't get me wrong, you can swim if you want, but you will have to bring your own chair. I was perfectly happy sunning by the secondary pool which has an island with waterfalls and a hot tub in the middle. This may sound schlocky, but it was very pretty. On occasion you will see an iguana sunning, and he/she will get too hot and jump off the island to swim to the other side. All in all this is a laid back, quiet place where you will feel safe and not be bothered by an intrusive staff. The prices are very good for the quality, and I would go back.

We are owners and this review is for the TIMESHARES and the shared facilities with the Sheraton which is on the same physical property, such as dining rooms.
First, the resort has benefited from the renovated sidewalks near property and onto downtown (this is the short 10 minute walk people are so pleased by). I cannot stress too strongly what a great thing this is.
Second, LOTS of work on the units is occurring.
Third, there have been a lot of new antennae installed for wifi, and in general, all the units get adequate signal.
Fourth, the all-inclusive hotel packages type meals no longer rule the dining areas.
Staff is still wonderful, grounds & plantings still amazing.

The hotel and the time share were both very nice. We rented a time share and needed a hotel room for an extra person. Having the extra room and use of more facilities made the trip more enjoyable. The staff was friendly and the room service and housekeeping were very good. The concierge helped us with some extra services we asked for. The time share day beds were comfortable enough. The location was perfect for my daughters to access the Spring Break nightlife. It seemed safe enough with many uniformed police on patrol during the night. The hotel food was ok but if i returned I would only dine at the local restaurants where we enjoyed superb meals. The Mariachi band at the weekly fiesta was were entertaining. I found that I wasted my time going to the "shopping district" as I only wanted vanilla and they sold an excellent local variety for a good price in the hotel shop.
I did ask the timeshare people not to contact us during the week and they obliged.

We went to the Sheraton VC for 2 weeks in mid-April, and stayed in Bulding B the whole time. we had stayed in the tower in Dec, and did the not very complimentary "Fading a bit" review on 1/3/13, to which, typically, the Sheraton VC has not seen fit to respond. This time it was better, but I think that was because it was off season and there wasn't much going on, with very few guests. On the issues everybody complains about, and for which the Sheraton VC sometimes appologizes and promises to address and then never does anything, this time we thought:
1. Time shares. We were not continually harassed to go to the "45 minute" owners' breakfast, I think because the guy who hit us up on check in was the same guy I had barked at in December, I reminded him, and maybe he got them to stay away. Plus, as I said, there weren't many people around so they may not have bothered. In fact, the first week we were there they didn't have the uusal Tues "Owner's Party", with weak drinks, poor snacks, bad music, and some raffles to get people in the mood to be hustled. So, overall, no problems here, but I think it was just an off time.
2. Noise. As I said of the December visit, it gets VERY loud some evenings, when they have weddings and parties and receptions often going very late, and complaints to the VC or hotel people go absolutely nowhere, as these noisy affairs are set up by the event sales people and the hotel/VC folks have no control or input. In April there was only one wedding, which was indeed loud and late, but at least they had the Thurs Fiesa Mexican back in its usual spot, way over on the other, quieter side. Again, better but probably because of the timing, and the hotel/VC people offer verbal sympathy but can't do anything.
3. Room facilities. The units in Builidng B have been somewhat updated, so they are better than the Tower. But the indoor furniture is still old and often uncomfortable. And, as somebody else notes, the kitchen facilities are awful: old, mostly non-teflon pans to which everything sticks, a couple of very dull and flimsy knives, and 2 stovetop burners which are too small and close together to allow you to use the 2 pans at the same time, as they cowd each other off the stovetop. To do any kind of cooking, such as the breakfasts we like to do, you really have to be creative in balancing the one usable burner and the microwave. At least the units there have dishwashers, unlike the tower; but they give you a grand total of 1 (one) dishwashing tablet to last you the whole week, although, of course, you can get more for the inevitable fee.
4. Smoking. Unlike many hotels and resorts in the US, there are no restrictions whatsoever about smoking, in the buildings or outdoors. And there always is a lot of it, especially by the pool, which I and others find disgusting; one day we had to move our chairs 3 times because different groups of people came in and started smoking near wherever we were. I have asked the VC that, if they won't declare the whole place non-smoking as many US places do, they at least have no-smoking areas, such as on the ocean side of the pool, so the smoke stench is blown away, but of course the VC never does anything.
5. Beach. The beach remains very stony, unless you stay very close to the hotel edge or go a ways up or down the beach. I don't know what could be done about this, but I do know, as I have said before, that the VC people have claimed they were going to address that issue somehow, but, once again, nothing happens.
6. Staff. We found the staff generally pretty friendly and helpful, indoors and out. Concierge David was especially helpful, a real gem. The front desk people are usually fairly gruff, as they deal in money and no doubt complaints, but this time seemed to be of a kinder, gentler frame of mind.
7. The shop. The VC shop is a small place, and everything in it is very expensive. You expect things to be more costly than out on the street, for the convenience, but I check and several things were as much as 3 times more expensive than the stores across or down the street, which I think is pretty outrageous. If you need something, walk 5 minutes to the OXXO across the street and save a bundle.
The weather was great, as usual, and the location close to town is really nice.
Bottom lines this time: we relaxed in spite of the usual hassles, enjoyed the weather and location, and just wish they'd do SOMETHING about the noise, smoking, and updating.

We are original 1989 owners in Bldg. D (nearest the sea). We loved it enough to buy two more units in Tower A. We come at least once every year -- for the superb views and location. It is close enough for our daily walk into town and to Mega for all our groceries and needs. The staff is always friendly and helpful, with some being there as long as us. The rooms are all spacious and clean. Housekeeping, concierge and front desk personnel are very accommodating. The monetary exchange is about as good as anything in town, including the banks.

Puerto Vallarta is paradise and BVC is the best lodging within its city limits. But nothing in this life is perfect. Here are some ways that BVC can improve:
1. Lobby. This is pretty Spartan and could be more welcoming, with furnishings like Sheraton.
2. Internet. The broadband is terribly narrow, especially in Bldg. A. In April, we actually had much better reception in Bldg. D than in the Tower. A luxury facility should do much better than that in this day and age. At least, there is no extra charge now for owners. Thanks for that.
3. Presidential Suite. In the studio room, the bench seating is not at all comfortable. Its base is so narrow that it doesn't come close to the knee when sitting. Compared to the sofas in Bldg. D, these are very inadequate in the Tower -- with cushions that are less than comfortable.
4. Tower Kitchen. The stove tops are also inadequate -- too small to get two pots or pans on burners at the same time. Most of all, their heat is very slow to come on and is uneven.
5. Fading Tower. The very top floor has been turned into luxury suites -- all very pricey. But unlike Bldg. D, the upgrades are very slow in coming for the other floors. No granite counters, big-screen TVs or comfy furniture yet. Some paint is peeling and plaster is starting to fade. Bldg. A is really in need of a decent facelift.
6. Noise. On Sunday night, a party at the Sheraton ran past midnight -- far after normal bedtime.
7. Rocky Beach. Some sand has been added in front of the Sheraton -- but so far none in front of BVC. Can't something be done to shield wave action against washing away the sand that is still there? And will the BVC beachfront ever be converted from large, sharp rocks into sand?

Despite this critique, we do love BVC for its superior values and amenities described above. After just a few months of being away, we can hardly wait to go back. ! Muchas gracias!

Room Tip: The higher the better for both views and sound -- in both Bldgs. A and D
