We just returned from a vacation in Puerto Vallarta. Went whale watching and it was great! We probably saw 2 dozen whales - mother and baby, males breaching and slapping the surface for attention from the girls. Got some great pictures. Tour guide, who is doing whale research, was a great guide full of knowledge. If you are there during the whale season this is a must.

This tour was to be a highlight for taking pictures of some whales. We arrived and waited and waited and waited only to be told our Zodiak boat broke down in the harbour on the way to pick us up. We were told to hitch a ride on a snorkelling boat and we could transfer to another boat out near the the snorkelling island. We boarded and on our way when we were told that there was no room on the Whale watching boat and that we would have to stay on this boat. Then the story changed again and we were told the Captain would come and talk to us which never happened. All of the sudden a Whale watch boat showed up and could take 6 of the stranded 8 people. One couple decided to go snorkelling instead, so it worked out the rest of us could go. Now, by this time the mood for whale watching had kind of worn off and we had lost a good portion of our morning. Although the new Guide and Captain tried their best, we did see a couple of whales, but like I said we had lost a good portion of our trip due to the breakdown.
We got back to their location and were offered a Whale watch the next day. We could not as we were booked up with other Vallarta Adventure tours. They offered us another tour later in the week, so we picked Sierra Madre South tour. Both of the other couples got their money back as they were leaving the next day.
I would not take this trip again. Was the breakdown their fault, probably not, but the run around we got once we boarded the snorkelling boat had us all confused as to what the heck was going to happen. No less than 3 different people telling us 3 different things, as well as not getting a visit from the Captain as we were promised left us in limbo being somewhere we did not want to be.

Very fun and educational trip out on the ocean to whale watch. Nikki the guide and her crew were awesome!!! Very knowledgable on whales. We learned alot about the whales, their habitat, mating seasons, feeding seasons, etc.. Saw baby whales, female and male whales. Hated to head back to shore time went by very quickly! We definitely reccomend this to anyone!
