My wife and I celebrated our 25th wedding anniversary two years ago and postponed our trip until we could find the perfect time and destination to mark this milestone. Casa de los Arcos was the destination we had hoped for. It captured all of our dreams and more! The stunning views of the Pacific ocean and of the town; the luxurious, quiet and clean accomodations; the lovely, refreshing dipping pool; the peaceful, immaculate gardens, and especially the hospitality, all contributed to the exquisite experience. Susan and David are warm, welcoming hosts who do everything they can to help make your holiday relaxed and comfortable. We have found our special place and can't wait to return. Thank you again Susan and David, your hats are hung in the right place.

We spent one week at the Casa de los Arcos in March 2011.
What can I say? We chose the accommodation on the basis of the Tripadvisor reviews and we can confirm that they are all spot on! If you are looking for a very special place to stay in Puerto Vallarta, in a beautiful location with attentive hosts, Casa de los Arcos is for you!
Location - Casa de los Arcos is located on a hill just south of the old town, away from the all inclusives. A steep walk to the old town and the city beaches takes about fifteen minutes. The walk is steep, but if you do not feel like walking you can always take a cab. the area is quiet and you enjoy splendid views over the ocean and the jungle. if you are looking for a calm location, yet close to the centre, this is the place of you.
Accomodation - we had the opportunity to try to "rooms" at the Casa de los Arcos, I put "rooms" as you get much more than a room - you get a bedroom/bathroom with a wonderful living area and a fully equipped kitchen. we loved the partly open air living area and enjoyed living partly inside and outside. Nothing tops the views you get from the living rooms.
Hosts - Susan and David really are your perfect hosts! We were delighted to have such attentive yet discreet hosts that provided a perfect introduction to Puerto Vallarta and really made a difference to our stay. This started with the first day tour of the city, a visit to the local supermarket and continued with Margaritas on their terrace (dare I say even better than the ones you get in town...) and tips what to do in Puerto Vallarta and around to continued care that our stay would be a good one. We felt genuinely well taken care of without ever feeling that it was too much.
We opted to hire the chef for one night, Rosi, that comes to visit and does the cooking. She is a friendly and pleasant lady, comes and prepares the food and cleans. We very much enjoyed the Mexican dishes she prepared. Overall, you will probably pay as much as you would in a restaurant (Our bill came to Mex$ 500 for service and ingredients, without drinks) but it is worthwhile to enjoy the special atmosphere and have dinner at the Casa de los Arcos. And like other reviewers, we did end up eating the left overs the day after. :)
We spent two nights in the Casita and the rest of the stay in the Casa Palapa. Whilst it is true that the Casita has the better views (it is located above the other accommodation), the Casa Palapa with its wonderfully spacious living room for us was the preferred option. If we go back we would opt for the Casa Palapa.
We wholeheartedly recommend Casa de los Arcos, It is a very special place and we would not go anywhere else in Puerto Vallarta.

Room Tip: Stay in the Casa Palapa

Our days of all-inclusives are definitely over after staying a week at Casa de los Arcos. My husband and I stayed in Casa Grande with our two young adults and had an absolutely wonderful time. Susan and David are very generous providing advice about the local sights and great inexpensive restaurants. Besides the most spectacular sunsets, the flats are clean and have everything you need for a comfortable stay. We could have stuck to ourselves but the other guests were fun and interesting so we ended up spending time chatting by the pool and spending evenings together. It's no wonder 90% of their clients are repeats, many with a standing booking. We may become one of them!

We have gone to Puerto Vallarta four times now over close to twenty years. The first time we were not privileged to stay at Casa de los Arcos, although Susan Wiseman did get us a lovely condo to stay in that first time.

The second time we got the Pallpa unit which is to my mind the best in terms of view vs. privacy. The third and fourth times we have been in Casa Tillman or I think the website calls it Casa Grande. We have enjoyed every single one of our stays. Susan Wiseman and David Lord are simply very nice people. They will do as much for you as you like or leave you alone if that is what you prefer. The website, which Is available from the monthly update I will send you separately, tells you much of what you will want to know. It also includes a link to the website (top left).

There are two units which I am not sure are on the website, but your best bet is to talk to Susan and tell her what you are looking for in terms of housing, trips. Believe me anything is possible. Susan and David from my experience only deal with reputable people. So while I have never had an RMT or cook come in I have faith that it would be professional. Don’t forget that all units have a full kitchen/Wi-Fi/IPod dock...

The views are spectacular. The higher up of course the better, but be prepared for a climb like you did in Peru to get back up to the Casa. On a happier note, taxis were 50P, tip in. In other words $5. Do ask Susan and David about Mosquito netting, which you might want in some of the units. There are many amazing restaurants, trips, whale watching tours, zip lining............

The one thing is that this tends to be a quiet place. It is wonderful to go and simply hang out, the beach is a ten minute walk down the hill, but there is a plunge pool onsite. Did I mention maid service and a groundskeeper who will help with anything they can? Things like getting Laundry done, a cook or RMT are extra charges. In my experience you can also arrange to have things ready for you (again for an extra charge). The grocery stores are not far to walk and the roasted chicken is to die for.

What more can I say?

This is the best place to stay in Puerto Vallarta!

David Myles

All too seldom do we have the time to just enjoy being alive -- at Casa de los Arco, the whole Universe seems to conspire to provide just that.

While having breakfast on the terrace each morning, we had the choice of attending to the panoramic bay view, 7 or 8 species of exotic birds, or the green, green jungle meeting the blue, blue sky.

The Casitas are spacious, the beds are huge, the service is impeccable, the hosts are genuine and authentic. And the Romantic Zone waits just below, between you and the playa.

We enjoyed the sense of privacy as well as the opportunity to interact with other guests as we wanted. I wrote another chapter in my book as well as restoring my art of conversation.

Nearby quality restaurants abound: I enjoyed Piazzetta for Italian and El Brujo for the Mexican molcajete.

Truly the Gestalt of the place deserves all the stars in those beautiful tropical nights above. As much as I try to not gush, this is the place. Now I have great friends in the hosts, David and Susan, and I will return soon because it is so easy to stay at Casa de lost Arcos.

My husband, 18 year old daughter and I spent a relaxing week in the Grande Casa. The space is large with a huge ocean view terrace and nicely appointed kitchen, living & dining area, two bedrooms and bathrooms. It was more than enough space for us. We enjoyed breakfast on the terrace every morning with the incredible view and it was a peaceful refuge to come back to after a day of exploring. Yes, it is a walk uphill to the Casa and downhill to Old Town but we needed the exercise after the delicious food we ate & never minded it.
Susan and David were friendly, helpful and gave us some great recommendations. We hope to be back!
