The hotel was very nice in the past but it needs maintanance. Gardens and pool are great, the environment is nice: no noise, all nature around. But you can tell the hotel is very old and owners are not investing in any improvements.
It's one of the rare (if not, the only) pet friendly hotel in PV, even though they have many restrictions for dogs.
Another thing I didn't like was only one of the staff members was friendly. The others had long faces and, sometimes, even rude when asked questions or needed something like an extra towel.

I used to come to this hotel in the past and loved it, but I didn't enjoy it like I used to.

Room Tip: first floor, near the pool

Kids enjoy every moment, even walking to the beach and shopping near by, easy access to bus and taxis to move around. Not far from a small mall, if you are a good walker is ok have a morning walk to down town, I have a friend who find bikes for us and we did a toru by a new avenue surrounded by nice and posh restaurants

Jaimie is a true asset to this hotel. He is fluent in Spanish and English and goes above and beyond to be helpful. There are not enough loung chairs at the pool. We had to be at the pool before 8 AM to get chairs. The hotel is worn and not super clean. Approximately 1 km to SuperWalmart adpnd Costco. Caracol mall with laundry service, grocery store, bakery, hair salon, etc. About two blocks away. Bus stop right out front.

Room Tip: Main floor or one floor up, unless you like to walk stairs

Thank you very much for your comments, we will let Jaime know your comment. Also, we greatly regret your wait for the chairs in the pool, you only had to contact the reception to accommodate your chairs. Thanks to your comment we will take new measures to improve the service. We'll see you again. Thank you.

We stayed at the Luna for 8 nights, and really enjoyed our stay. Jaime, the concierge, was incredible. He is so accommodating to your every need. Thank you, Jaime! The room was clean and comfortable. The pool was clean, but does need some TLC. I understand that it will be drained and tiles replaced sometime this off-season. I sure hope so! We will definitely stay there again! We had friends come to visit for short visits and it was no problem. A short walk to Sorianas for groceries was also very convenient. We didn't do the breakfast, so I cannot comment on that. The room was very comfortable, with the AC working when we needed it, and also had the option of the ceiling fans. All in all, this is not your fancy resort, but a very clean and comfortable place to stay! Cannot wait to return! One complaint we could make, is that the room next door to our superior suite, had some people smoking cigarettes all night, and that was very annoying. They were only there for one or two nights, so we got through that! Still, they should designate smoking and non-smoking rooms. There also was a nightclub close by that had their music loud at night that was also annoying. Other than that, no real complaints!

The Puerto de Luna is an inexpensive place to stay but it is a 3 star at best. It met our needs but we scaled down our expectations. We had the superior suite which had two bathrooms and one bedroom with a comfortable king size bed. There was a kitchen with a stove, fridge, microwave, coffee maker, blender and very basic cooking materials. It was a gas stove that we needed matches to light. We did see some bugs on the counters from time to time. There was also a sitting area which led out to a small patio with two chairs and small table. Our room looked out towards the pool. The pool is a good size, has about 12 loungers but is rarely crowded. We enjoyed hanging out at the pool daily and it was a fun place to cool off. There’s some tiles missing on the floor of the pool but there are plans to drain the pool and repair it @ September. They are currently working on at least 3 rooms to upgrade them. The set up is combination of condo owners who live here year round and hotel guests. The staff is very friendly and helpful. Jaime is definitely the go to guy at Puerto de Luna. He is informative and helpful with everything. The cleaning ladies work hard as well.
On Thursday a group of mentally challenged and handicapped folks receive swimming lessons from a dedicated group of instructors. The owner of the Puerto de Luna is chairman of the altruistic society and he donates the use of the pool. Judging by the happy smiles this is greatly appreciated by group. So the Puerto de Luna is a cheap place to stay. It has character and of course it is pet friendly.
There is a night club about 3 blocks away and there is the thump thump of the bass nightly which goes until 4am so bring ear plugs. The rooms have air conditioning and ceiling fans so the rooms are comfortable.
If you are looking for an inexpensive vacation with a quiet pool this is the place for you.
