This is not our first stay in Puerto Vallarta, but the first time to exchange for a 1 bdrm at Vallarta Torre.
First off, even though you are less than 2 miles from Puerto Vallarta airport, the taxi ride is a fixed $215 peso fare. No haggling. From VT back to the airport it's $100 pesos. Normal taxi fares are listed on a board near the entrance.
VT is one of the oldest resorts in PV. It is small with towering resorts on either side. Small pool but nice access to the beach. Security is good, staff friendly and helpful. Typically styled rooms, somewhat dated, but clean and pretty comfortable. Full kitchen.

There is a pool bar with a happy hour late in the day, but we found it faster, easier, and cheaper to purchase the drink ingredients at the grocery store, Soriano's which is right across the street from VT. (We could make our drinks in plastic glasses and get back to the pool in less than 10 min.) Actually, the back of the grocery store faces VT and most shoppers take the little 'alley-way' short cut to get to the entrance of the store.
We found this store to have everything we needed and at good prices. We compared their prices to the Walmart in Nuevo Vallarta the following week and found that Soriano's was actually cheaper! Great Mexican pastries in the bakery--we enjoyed walking over each day and selecting two different ones to try the following morning with our coffee. YUM!
We found there was a wide variety of people at this small resort: a mix of families with children, couples, and even a few singles. Although they do have some activities during the day and evening, this is not the great place for those out for the big party atmosphere.
Mid-week clean only, but you can exchange your pool towels at the front desk anytime you wanted.
There is an on-site restaurant which is all right. We had a breakfast there once-nothing to get too excited about, but they do have a special for each day and there always seemed to be quite a few diners.
You are only a short walk from the marina so you have a bird's eye view when the cruise ships come in. Quite a sight!
Recommend you dine at Vista Grill-spectacular view of PV at sunset. Request a seat on the terrace. You are treated very well and you'll love the menu. A bit on the pricey side, but worth the price. Have the front desk make your reservation.
Another place we ate was the Happy Lobster. I had the sea bass fillet mignon-the fillet was curled up and cooked with bacon and garlic and butter. It's probably the best fish I've ever had. We didn't do this, but if you get a card from the front desk, you might get a free drink. This place was recommended by 3 taxi drivers, someone staying at the resort, and the front desk. My mouth is watering for that fish!
Check-in and check out were a snap. And the exchange rate at the desk was $12.4 which was much better than most places including the banks!
We're already missing PV--warm sun and beach and friendly people. Can't wait to go back!

We were so lucky to stay at Vallarta Torre a couple of weeks ago. Our friends who have a time share gifted over to us 1 bedroom condo while they were down in PV for vacation.

I cannot tell you how charming and how much we loved this place. From the time you get to the property, you are greeted by employees who are charming and so welcoming. Everyone from the front desk, bartendars, servers, house cleaning are so nice. They make you feel like you are visiting their home. We had some of the best Margarita's I've had in a long time.

There is a nice beach and it is beautiful to walk the beach in the morning along with everyone else for a little bit of exercising.

They also have a restaurant on site and the menu selection has some very nice choices that are very good and reasonably priced. Each night they have a special.

While they are located or I should say sandwiched between 2 larger resorts, I would stay here again in a heart beat.

Our room was clean and there are sufficient dishes, pots, towels and anything else you may need. There is a very nice grocery store about 1 1/2 blocks away so you can get fresh fruit, snacks and/or food if you wish to do so.

All of the rooms look out towards the Ocean just as the picture shows. There are about 96 units with a mix of 1 and 2 bedroom condo's. If you are able to stay here, forget the places closer into town and stay here.

I have been a member of VI resorts for over 30 years. I have been to many of the resorts and they are all nice. Vallarta Torre is my favorite and I have been over 25 times. The staff are great and so friendly. I count many of them as my friends. I always get personal attention when I am there. There are so many wonderful things to do in Puerto Vallarta. I have been to almost all the sights, sometimes several times. Now I go for the rest and relaxation of the resort. You will feel welcome as soon as you step on the property.

I spent a week at Vallarta Torre in early February. The resort itself is a gem - a relatively small place surrounded by huge places. Everything about the resort was well-cared-for. The apartment - and that is the best term - was beautiful and very comfortable. The weather was glorious - never colder than low-60's, never hotter than high-80's. The grocery store a few minutes away is a great resource. Overall Puerto Vallarta was a delight - and felt very safe wherever I went, though my guide into the Sierras made sure to check in every place we went in case the people that lived there felt intruded upon.

Room Tip: I stayed on the 5th floor facing the beach. I'd have no problem requesting the exact same room...

We recently had the pleasure of staying at Casa Maria, one of the original individually owned suites that make up part of the Vallarta Torre Hotel. The 3 storey building is a charming and beautifully cared for retreat; so different from the surrounding mega hotels. Casa Maria is a 2 bedroom corner unit on the 3rd floor; it overlooks the beach on one side and an open outdoor courtyard and pool on the other. From your deck, you can watch cruise ships leaving port just after sunset; their lights shining like jewels in the dark. This comfortable and traditional Mexican decorated suite has everything you could want - it is like moving into your best friends place for a holiday. It is evident that the owners take great pride in providing more than just the basics for their guests. A well stocked kitchen, lovely living room, choice of indoor or outdoor dining area as well as two spacious bedrooms with comfy beds, private baths and decks make this a wonderful getaway destination! The hotel itself is adjacent to these units and Casa Maria guests have the option of dining in the restaurant, taking advantage of the outdoor spa, lounging poolside, using the outdoor bbqs to cook their own meal - or just enjoying the comforts of your suite. The staff are wonderful; incredibly friendly and knowledgeable - many of them have been at Vallarta Torre for 20 plus years. There is something uniquely special about Vallarta Torre and Casa Maria in particular. A big part of it is the kindness and caring of staff and the pride that they have for this wonderful little gem. Maybe it's the feeling of gracious hospitality one gets upon entering the grounds. You won't be disappointed. Close to grocery stores, entertainment and sightseeing.

Room Tip: Casa Maria is a corner unit in the little 3 storey complex. A great place to people watch, not at a...

This resort is outstanding! We stayed in the 2 bdrm suite on the 2nd fl facing the ocean in January. What a view! Very peaceful resort. The staff were very friendly. Richard, the vacation councelor, was a great and friendly guy and a wealth of info. The resort is 3 mins from Soriana's, this is great! Taxis to the Malecon were 50 pesos and 80 pesos to Downtown PV. We could see the Cruise Ships come in to the Marina which was neat! You will not be disappointed at this place!

It Is true that on the Beach this resort does not get any sun in the morning because of the 3 Icon Vallarta Towers beside it, which is too bad.

The sellers on the Beach are constant but not a nuisance as they leave if you say "no gracias". Most of the gents & ladies are pleasant to talk with and they enjoy the camaraderie of negociating.

We rented one of the timeshare condos overlooking the beach during Christmas week. Just fabulous! But I wanted to comment on the resort itself.

With all the huge pretentious hotels and towers popping up on the beach nearby (that's you Icon and Hilton! ) it was heartening to find Vallarta Torre still there. It is truly a hidden gem! One of the oldest resorts in PV someone had told me. It has a homey feel. Staff is welcoming, beach and premises clean, restaurant has wonderful meals and drinks with specials each night at good prices. Only 3 min walk to Soreanos (groceries) is huge plus.

Keep up the great work! I hesitated to place this review... Would like to keep the Vallarta Torre secret to myself... ;-)
