My husband's grandfather has a timeshare here and we were lucky enough to use it in late June. We had a wonderful time! Our 1 bedroom space was plenty - in fact, it's bigger than our apartment at home :)
Check in was quick and easy. The staff members were awesome. We had a small leak in our ceiling one day so we called maintenance. They were working on it within 20 minutes and it was fixed soon after.
The food and drinks here are great. (A little pricier than going to town to eat, but that's ok if you're just looking for convenience).
The tourist desk helped us pick a tour to do (Canopy River -- do it!) and it was awesome; their help was greatly appreciated.
The rooms are quiet, the views are beautiful and our overall experience was great. We did not want to leave. They really take care of you and it's a very charming place to stay.
I really like the convenience of being able to store your bags in a room for the day if you're flight leaves in the afternoon, later than the checkout time. We were able to leave our bags and go back to el Malecon one last time and not have to haul them around with us.

Beautiful, wonderful place to stay. We'd love to go back in the future.

We visited the Vallarta Torre in March and stayed in the Ocean front 2 bedroom unit which was spectacular! When we walked in I was very surprised at how much room there was and the views were great. We arrived a few days ahead of my Daughter and her Husband so we settled in with groceries and anticipated their arrival. We all had a great time! The staff was warm and friendly, the guest just the same. We ate a lot in our unit but also enjoyed eating out as well. My daughter did not want to leave! We hav e the luxury of coming back which we plan to do next year. PV and the Vallarta Torre are becoming an annual tradition for us. Everything about the u it's and resort we liked, nothing to complain about except we can't wait to be back.

I will preface this review by saying that I have been coming to this place since I was a teenager and now I am bringing my kids... so i have a bit of nostalgia tied to this property. It is not the most glamorous, tallest, amenity filled place in PV, but I have to think it is one of the friendliest and most relaxing.

I like the small size and usually after a week you know the staff and most of the guests by name. The place is always clean, well maintained and charming. You really never need to leave the confines, there is a great palapa bar, restaurant and cafe. Also, your units have full service kitchens and you are literally across the street from a huge supermarket. We usually stock up on supplies for the week and get snacks, smoothies and a drink or two from the bar.

There are also BBQs you can use for grilling and theme nights if you are not inclined to cook. There are activities like volleyball, water aerobics, shuffle board for the adults and some kids activities like ceramics painting and a baby turtle release (in season). There are usually quite a few families so the kids make quick friends and are usually playing in the pool or beach all day.

The rooms are spacious with huge showers, well appointed and clean. The property is very secure with staff at the entry from the street and the beach, although this location and PV in general is very safe.

Overall great spot, the only reason it is not 5 stars (circles) is that it does not have the uber touches like a spa, gymnasium, waterslide, etc... but for fun with a family it is perfect.

This is a charming resort. We traded into a one bedroom unit through RCI. We arrived in the late morning, so knew that we would not be able to get into our room until 4:00, Checkin was fast and friendly and they offered to store our luggage while we had lunch and waited on the beach for our room to be ready. The apartment was lovely, with saltillo tile floors, vibrant orange sofas and a large balcony with two chairs, a small table and a drying rack for towels and swimsuits. The kitchen was about the best we have ever experienced in Mexico, fully furnished with dishes, glassware, pans, a full size refrigerator, and even a dishwasher! Bedroom had a king-size bed, bathroom had a shower only, no tub.

The onsite restaurant is quite good with a fairly extensive selection. The prices are about the same as we found downtown, service excellent. The pool is not huge, but seemed perfectly adequate for the size of the resort. Beach is clean and plenty of palapas available. We liked that the security guard at the beach helped us with chairs, straw mats and tables. In fact all the staff was so pleasant and helpful.

Maid service was only offered once during the week, but that was plenty for us as we don't need it every day by any means.

We thoroughly enjoyed our week at Vallarta Torre, and would be delighted to go back again!

This hotel is absolutely wonderful! The authentic Mexican style pervades everything about this place, from the beautiful entry courtyard to the decor of the suite to the great on-site restaurant. We ate at the restaurant over half of our nights for dinner and got to know the servers quite well. The bartenders and restaurant staff work the entire resort all day long and by the end of the week, they knew our room number and we knew all of them by name. The size of the resort is so much better than the large all-inclusives (like the huge one next door) and provides such a much more personal experience. We got to know many of the other owners (it's part of the Vacation Internationale group) and made some great new friends. The pool area is just the right size and the palapa bar has a great happy hour every single day! The palapas on the beach are plentiful with a variety of chairs and tables to arrange as desired - I was worried at first that we wouldn't get a place on the beach unless we paid or got out there first thing in the morning, but there was never a problem at all sitting wherever we wanted and there's no charge at all. The security throughout the entire resort was just right, enough to make us feel safe (especially on the beach) but not overbearing at all. The location of the resort is extremely convenient to the airport and grocery stores and we even took the public bus downtown with no issues at all. There aren't a ton of other restaurants around the area but this doesn't really matter because one could easily eat in the resort restaurant every night and have a great meal. The Mexican Fiesta they put on in the middle of the week was absolutely the highlight of our whole vacation and is not to be missed if they have one when you're there. I would definitely go back to this resort if we had the chance - we loved it!

We just returned from a week long stay at Vallarta Torre and was pleasantly surprised about some things and definitely disappointed about others. First the good. I wasn’t sure with the resort being so small if they’d have the activities that Torres Mazatlan has (another VI owned property) but they actually had a bit more with shuffle board and yoga on the beach and a tile artist that comes in one afternoon a week to sell his wears. (Bingo though lasts for about 20 minutes vs over an hour in Mazatlan, not near as fun and the popcorn wasn’t near as good either) The restaurant is completely outdoors right next to the pool and you can see to ocean from the hot tub. They even store turtle eggs that are found on the beach until they’re ready to be released. When they’re ready to head out to sea they put up a sign on the daily check in and out board letting everyone know the time of the release for anyone to participate that wants to. From what I was told it’s more common occurrence during Jan though March so we were very lucky to have had the opportunity to release some while we were staying there the 2nd week of April. There are so few rooms at the resort that finding a chair by the pool or out on the beach is much easier than in Mazatlan and there’s a bench seat in the pool under the palapa bar that’s great to hang out on to keep cool and out of the sun if you’d like. The resort is much closer to town and the town of Puerto Vallarta is much nicer in my opinion to Mazatlan plus being able to just walk two blocks to Soriana’s (a local grocery store) was a big plus. Oh and it doesn’t look like it on a map but it’s only about a two block straight shot walk from the resort front gate to get to the marina where the cruise ships come in and where to head out for all kinds of different tours including the Rhythm of the Night tour that I’d highly recommend! The resort is very secure. They lock the beach gate at 10pm and they lock the front gate as well but there is a small gate to the right to get in using your room key. Oh if you do go on the Rhythm of the Night tour be warned that the entrance gate to the marina will be locked up when you get back so you’ll have to walk out to the street and down to Soriana’s to get back to the hotel. My recommendation would be to take a cab even for that short of a ride just because it’s so late and dark. The massages were excellent and very affordable! This is one area you’d definitely want to splurge on. Especially if you get the two massages and a facial deal!
Now for the not so good especially compared to Torres Mazatlan. First and foremost I’d have to say that the majority of the wait staff isn’t near as friendly and attentive as the wait staff in Mazatlan, Willie and Pablo (I think that was his name) being the two most notable exceptions to that. It was hard to catch a waiter by the pool and almost impossible to get your drinks refilled without having to wave someone down. I did learn something new during this trip though and that is that in Mexican culture it’s rude to bring you your bill if you haven’t asked for it. The big problem with that is that after they’ve cleared the table they never came back to give you the opportunity to ask for it. The 2nd thing I didn’t like as well is how the pool towels are disbursed. In Mazatlan you check them out and in by the pool, they’re all numbered and no one can grab your towel as their own. At Vallarta Torre a 1 bedroom suite is given 4 blue pool towels in the bathroom and you can’t get more. If you only have two people in the room that’s fine but if you have 4 like we did it’s a bummer because it takes two towels just to cover the lounge chairs. You can at least exchange your towels any time you’d like with the front desk but anyone can pick up your towel as their own and then you’ll be charged $25 per lost towel. The last few things I didn’t like as well was the noise from the resort next store which I’d already known about from previous reviews and the venders on the beach. They have a roped off area but the venders cross it all the time even if you don’t wave them in. I was trying to take a little siesta under a polapa in the back row and had venders walk up and scare the wits out of me! And they are relentless! The ones in Mazatlan get to know you and they leave you alone for the most part unless you want something, here it was just a constant stream of them and a quick wave of your hand and shake of your head doesn’t work to keep them at bay. I don’t even understand the point of the rope on the beach if the venders are just allowed to cross anyways uninvited. And the last not so good was the fact that they don't turn on the AC until May.
Over all we all enjoyed our stay but those of us that had visited Mazatlan said they’d much rather go back there rather than go back to Puerto Vallarta mainly because of the superb wait staff.

Room Tip: Call ahead and request a room 3rd floor or higher if you want a view of the ocean and whether you wa...

They hotel is in a quieter part of town off the main highway. It is small, but the people are nice, the beach is good and it's fairly close to everything. The service is good as well.

Only complaints: They don't turn the AC on till May, and in March, that's a problem. Also, the beds/pillows are ok but uncomfortable after a week.
