“WOULD GO BACK IN A HEARTBEAT!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!”
Reviewed June 23, 2011

This is the place for fun and relaxation, The staff was superb and couldnt have asked for anything nicer then the 1 bedroom unit we stayed in. The property was beautiful. Very quaint, quiet since it is a small resort. food was very good if you ate at the restaurant and waiters were great. The securiy both front and at the beach were friendly, and you always felt comfortable and safe. The air conditiiong wasnt the greatest but it did the trick after being out in the sun. Store within 5 minute walk for groceries. a nice real mexican food restaurant around the corner , excellent choices. What else can we say but it was a magnicant and enjoyable relaxing vacation at the resort. Already have people booking for next year. A very comfortable atmoshpere and most of all the personnel treated you like family. As they said when we arrived, WELCOME HOME and that is how they made us feel as if their home was our home.

We spent a week at Vallarta Torre. We exchanged through VCI. 1st we were given a view of a roof. Then moved to #307. NO A/C! It was HOT! The main building has swamp coolers. (New building is better. Their members get best rooms over VCI trades.) We met a nice couple that said they were checking out of #409 and it had some A/C. We moved and it made the trip better. It is a old property. Nice staff. Nothing fancy just very basic. Clean. Maid service once a week. Food is good and massage near beach was great! (Use the gentleman) We are beach lovers. The vendors are allowed to come up to your chair and will not take no for an answer. It got to the point that we stayed off of the beach. Not a great sales point if you want a beach vacation. The grocery is around the corner and you can walk to Walmart. It is loud at times by the pool. The resort next door and V.T. battle over disco music at times. (They need new speakers!)
Get out and about! PV is great! We had fantastic fish tacos at a sidewalk spot near the market. We had dinner at Casa Isabel, a beautiiful hotel and restaurant with the best SUNSET in PV. I will go back and stay there. It is a $5.00 cab ride in to old town. (Be sure to get the price of the cab ride before you get in the cab) Also "The Happy Lobster" is a great restaurant. PV is very safe. There is a great deal of construcion on the the roads and in town on the boardwalk. It will be beautiful when it is all repaired. All in all it is a fantastic place with nice people. Take the water taxi over to Yelapa. It is a fun day and still very rustic. $20.00 a person or so on the water taxi.

Room Tip: The view bestis from the side of the cliffs

This hotel is a time-share and we were blessed with its use by a family member. It was perfect for a mid-fifties couple who was looking to hang out and not do much. All the apartments face the Pacific with a nice balcony. Good sized bedroom and bath and an open kitchen/living area with the balcony off of it.
Only 70 rooms so not too many people. A few blocks from a grocery store. Low profile around the pool which was great to us - water aerobics and water volleyball, not much loud music, etc. Nice beach. Wednesday night was a fabulous Mexican folklorico show with excellent Mariachis and a beautiful buffet - $30/each! Also went to the Rhythms of the Night show, and it was easy to walk to the marina to catch the boat.
All in all very relaxing and comfortable. Only drawback was the bed which was very hard and covered with a rubber sheet. Once that came off it was better but that was the only drawback. If there weren't so many other resort areas we haven't visited, we would go back again.

A cautionary note when you arrive at the Airport. Fresh faced travelers looking to relax BEWARE!. You will be bombarded by people trying to provide transportation, etc. etc. Most are trying to get you to go to a Time Share presentation. They will give you free things if you do so. If you are up for it - great. We were not and had trouble getting anyone to take no. We were exhausted by the time we made it through the airport. A cab to this hotel should cost you no more than about $10 or 100 pesos from the airport. They will try to get double. This was the most unpleasant part, in fact the only unpleasant part, of our week stay . This hotel will also try to get you to a free meal to talk about time share. We declined the invittation without any hassle.

Well, Not sure where to begin, We are Owners of Vacation International and received a 5 night stay free for paying our Maintenance fees early, so I guess the saying of nothing is free holds here. First when we got to the Condo we were given a Double Double We were expecting a king or Queen which we have always been given at every other VI Resort!( we have been to 10 others!) (Were told we would have had to call in Advance to get the King Beds ) who knew! Well then the Beds were HARD so very hard, I am 5'8" and my feet hung over the end of the bed. The other furniture was so uncomfortable you could not sit more than 10 minutes at a time without switching, finally brought in the deck chairs they had cushions that helped. We ate at the restaurant the first night and OMG how horrible, we have stayed at the same Resort in Mazatlan they have awesome food so, we were assuming the food would be the same, WRONG Horrible, and to top it off Husband became ill from the Salad. The Palapa had very bitter Mixed drinks, finally asked for a lemonade and got straight Margarita Mix YUKKK! We decided to go into Puerto Vallarta Downtown area the next day were put in a Taxi at the resort well, the driver charged $2.00 more than we were told, so watch out and get a firm price from the driver before getting in! We were very disappointed with the quality and needless to say will never return ! Will go back to Torre Mazatlan next Time the resort is so much Better, Strange that they are not run the same and they are both VI Resorts!

Room Tip: Call in Advance a week or two, to make sure you gg

Our first time back to Vallarta Torre in 31 years! There have been some changes, mainly the huge amount of buildup around the resort, but the resort itself other than paint and remodel and the addition of a restaurant, remains the same.
In the past you were able to see Palm trees everywhere, and see the city lights from the higher floors, but alas, no more.
I think the location is great with a Soriano store 2 blocks away that has all the suplies you will need at resonable prices, Costco not far and Wal-mart walkable. There is a bus stop right near the Soriano. The beach is perfect, quiter than uptown, and they have kept the resort in great condition. They have scheduled activities and a tour desk available.
We found the staff to be very friendly and helpful, the restaurant food to be good and the rooms are plenty large and comfortable. Floors 3 and higher all have ocean views. The rooms are somewhat dated but have everything you need for your stay, are clean and have a nice patio or balcony where we spent alot of time on. The beds are also very comfortable. Our only complaint was the noise from the hotel next door. Some nights we could here them even with earplugs! I'm sure that is because we we way over towards that side (North). This did not detour us in any way and they do warn you of the noise in the precheck in email.
We enjoyed our stay so much we are planning on returning next year, and bringing along our daughter and son-in-law!

I appreciate reading negative reviews as they give you an idea as to what to look out for and help to set your expectations. Now look at the top of the page….where it say the "Hotel class". This is a three star place… and a pretty darn good three star it is. Do not go in with five star expectations and you will have a great time.

Vallarta Torre (VT) is very close to the airport, so no time lost traveling to your hotel. It is a very small complex (70 units) but is run very efficiently by a friendly and helpful staff. Check in was a breeze and we were up in our room in no time. The units are relatively basic but have a pretty nice kitchen (including a gas oven but are you really going to bake stuff?), gas stove , microwave, coffee maker, toaster and blender. There is a communal BBQ near the pool which we used twice to grill our dinner. The view from our balcony was lovely and we watched a number of spectacular sunsets over the bay.

Our TV (there is only one in the room) had plenty of English language channels so I am not sure why this was an issue for another reviewer (some had Spanish subtitles but is that really an issue?)

We had free WI-FI everywhere with signal strength that varied a bit but we were able to Skype and email without issues. The password was entered, ONCE, at the front desk and we had no further issues. We were on the fourth floor so the signal may have been worse on higher levels.

Vallarta Torre seems aimed at a older demographic (average age during our stay would have been in the 60s). They have a few steps to get through to the beach and we saw people in wheelchairs and walkers navigate quite well. They have an elevator and it was far from "painfully slow" when we, on occasion, used it. The tone of the place may be a bit too sedate for some younger couples but you certainly can go to other areas of Puerto Vallarta for evening excitement and enjoy the quieter pace during the day. The all inclusive resort next door is aimed at a younger demographic and can, at times. get a bit noisy. It wasn't much of an issue for us during our week.

VT provides no toiletries other than a bar of soap so we brought our own…. the supermarket, Soriana, is a slow 5 minute walk away if you need something. Wal-Mart and Sam's Club (membership required) are about a ten minute walk from VT. Like Soriana most of the merchandise is in Spanish and yes some of the workers don’t speak much English. Since this is Mexico we weren't surprised or flustered by this and managed quite well. You should too. We did not bother to go to the Costco ( 10 minutes walk) as the Wal-Mart and Soriana were more than adequate for our needs.

We had no "after dark" safety concerns…you won't either if you are smart. Why would you go to Puerto Vallarta and stay only on the hotel property? We traveled into the center of the city before sun down and stayed with the tourist crowds in a number of different areas. Just don't go wandering into areas without lots of people.

We went up to the fabulous Casa Isabel for the sunset view, wonderful music, great service and very nice food. We took a cab back from there to VT…no issues. Another night we bussed in to the old city before sun down walked around and then had a wonderful late evening seafood feast at Marisco Polo. We then walked along the boardwalk with thousands of others and took the bus back (again a bus full of tourists) to the stop across for the Soriana. The walk back to the hotel from Soriana has a small section that is a bit dark so if that is disconcerting take a cab back from the city...its all of 80 pesos (abut 7 bucks).

The only thing I found really annoying about our stay at VT (and this was true all along the beach and not just at VT) was the number of vendors who would come up to you when you were relaxing on the beach. I think there was a vendor trying to sell their stuff to me about every 45 seconds. The vendors are polite and move on when you say no…but they will interrupt your reading or listening to try and make a sale. They do not allow vendors on the property but that doesn't stop them form coming up to the fence and trying to get your attention. Unfortunately people do buy stuff from them so this encourages this behaviour.

We really enjoyed our first trip to Puerto Vallarta and our stay at Vallarta Torre. We will almost certainly return.
