“Long live adults only hotels !”
Reviewed January 28, 2011

We stayed 1 week in this AlI inclusive *adults only* hotel. The difference with the *family* sister hotel Crown Paradise next door could not be greater. Extremely noisy and overcrowded. If you have kids you have no choice of course, but if you are still a young couple or retired the *golden* Crown Paradise is THE place to be ! The best holidays we ever had, in ALL respects. You,d better not loose the 'small' key of your safe though cause they charged us a 100 box for it......Another tip, don't be afraid to book thru Galahotels.com. They appeared the be the cheapest for this hotel for online booking. As it is a Turkish cie we had our doubts initially but everything turned out fine. The savings we made even allowed us to upgrade to a front seaview junior suite with jacuzzi ! Wiwin and Theo.

We just got back on Jan 23 from two weeks at the GCP. We were there celebrating our 15th anniversary. It was our second visit to the property after being there for our tenth ann. They were very good in giving us a bottle of bubbly upon arrival and inviting us down for special cocktails on the beach one evening.

Had an ocean front room, putting us about 80 meters from the water. Enjoyed breakfast in our room and reading on the balcony, taking in the sights on the water. Bed was a bit hard, so staff added a foam cover after two nights and we slept fine. I am 6'7" tall and the ceiling in the shower was low, hence the deduction in my rating. Most people would not find this a problem.

Paradise and Salvador's restaurants are not quite what I recall from 5 years ago. Soups are a bit cool upon arrival, but salads, mains and deserts were excellent. Be sure and use your "green ticket" to get over to Sans Soucis at the Crown Club. It was the best of the ones we went to.

Liquor was all top label stuff and the wine was palatable Chilean.

If you think you might want to "pre purchase" 1000 nights of accommodation at this hotel and others for a mere $34,000, take in the "non-time share" presentation for 75 minutes. If not, save the aggravation and avoid the "info desk". We got two free back massages out of it the presentation, and if you are looking for a place to go in winter for moths at a time, it might be a good deal....

Our first room overlooked the pool on the first floor and we didn't like it, the sink was stopped up and I really didn't feel comfortable there. So we upgraded to an oceanfront room on the second floor for $20 extra per night. It was worth it! Much more private.
We went on a snorkeling tour to the Marietas Islands, well worth it. Also, I wish we would have gone to the Rhythms of the Night tour, everybody we talked said it was great. We took a city bus in to Puerta Vallarta, you catch it right on the main road, I think it is 11 pesos each way. Quite an experience, very bumpy but you get to walk around the city and see things you don't see on tours. This was after we took the free tour the hotel gives you, which was also very good.
I was surprised that the weather was so cold in the evenings and mornings. You really need a sweater! It warms up nicely during the day but we had to wear a wetsuit to snorkel as the water was only 70 degrees.
The Mexican restaurant was the best I think. Also, you really get way better service if you tip. They really expect that I think. One time we ordered room service breakfast and we didn't have a tip, so the guy was rude and basically just ran out of there. We tipped the maid every day, put the tip in the bed so no one else takes it, they work hard and they will give you extra good service.

This was my second time back to this resort with a group of 12 who get together every year for some sun and golfing. We were completely disappointed by the so called all-inclusive package including golf. In past years we had to pay an extra $58 per person for a "cart fee" but this year they doubled this fee on the weekends and days when alot of cruise ships were in port. The resort itself is getting old and tired - the bed are horrible and the TVs are the pool bar are so old we could barely make out the score on the football game. The pool table has tears in the felt and no longer flat. Be sure to ask for the premium liquor are you will get the standard rot-gut and end up with severe heart burn. The only saving grace was the great staff and service, and most of the food was good.

The telephone in our room did not work our entire stay! Everyday we were promised that someone would come to the room to fix the phone. It never happened! That means no room service except for breakfast by using the card that hangs on the room door knob! We had tiny ants on the bathroom counter so watch your tooth brushes and other toiletries! The room was clean but one day we only had one wash cloth and one bath towel. The view was fantastic!

The breakfast sausages are like tiny hot dogs or more like Vienna sausages. The Mexican restaurant was just OK. The only other dinner we ate the resort was at Nitro for New Year's Eve. It was the only great meal that we had at the resort! The buffet food was luke warm and at the sister resort, the food station that sells hot dog, hamburgers, ect. they told me to use my hands to pick-up the hot dogs and hamburgers, there weren't any serving utensils! The tacos by the pool were delicious!

During our stay we were not the only people complaining, while waiting to make or complaints, we were not usually alone! If it had not been for the staff at the front desk and their "Oh well", attitude, our stay might have been better!

I loved Puerto Vallarta and would like to return, but I will stay somewhere else. I'd rather be around kids and have good service than vice versa! I sent an email regarding my complaints to the resort email address but did not receive a response.

The food was TERRIBLE!!! The rooms were very basic, hard beds and no refridgerators. I could hardly open the drawers to the dresser. They advertise that you can go to the restaurants at the sister resort, well while we were there they wouldn't let us. Though they did give us little coupons to use at the sister resort...why give us coupons for those resturants knowing we can't eat there. Doesn't matter I heard that food was just at bad as the food at the adult resort. I liked the location of the resort and most of the staff was fantastic. If I could have cancelled and transfered to another resort I would have after the first night.

The hotel was very clean and the staff was courteous. We paid for an ocean front room with Jacuzzi inside. We had to take our bags to our room and got lost. Finally found our room and it was the wrong room bc it was small and the Jacuzzi was outside. The staff quickly switched us to the right room even though they said that they did not have record of what type of room we reserved. We never got the robes, wine or fruit that we also had paid for.(our friends got all of that in their room and they didn’t pay for it!) Room service was bad. Waited over an hour and the food was cold. Resturants were okay. Was disapointed bc they said that there was a dress code but several people came in with jeans on. Vendors are crazy! You buy from one and you will have a line waiting for you to buy from them. I just wanted to lie on the beach and read but was constantly interrupted by them. I finally had to put on my sunglasses and just ignore them. Carlos was awesome! He gave us the ends and outs of the best places to go and things to do for the $$. WARNING!! Do not go to the information desk. They are just time share people. (they are also all over the airport and act like you are suppose to go with them! DON'T!!) We snorkeled, scuba dived, parasailed and zip lined (of course it all cost $$ but was a blast!) DO NOT SHOP AT THE FLEA MARKET!! They are way overpriced! IT was much cheaper to shop on the boardwalk and they sell the same exact stuff/ crap. Nightlife kinda sucked. Not much going on after about 7:00pm. The bars at the pool closed early and no activities going on. You can go across the street to "Club Nitro." Not much excitment going on there either but was something to do. Got awesome massages and they gave us a good deal to come back for another one! Overall the experience was okay.
