“very cool”
Reviewed February 18, 2004

This was our 3rd all inclusive resort and it was beautiful! Very clean grounds and rooms, and one of the better beaches - if you go south towards downtown, the beaches get rocky. We opted after the first day not to lounge on the beach, however, because the vendors were relentless. They are not permitted to go up into the pool area, so that's where we spent most of our time. That was probably the only real downside to the vacation. Aside from that, the location is excellent - it was a $3 cab ride to downtown, only about 10 minutes from the airport, you got a wonderful view of the mountains and ocean if you get an oceanview room, and sometimes we could even whale watch from the beach!! Salvador's, one of the two finer dining restaurants, was outstanding! Service and food was impeccable - the filet and the pork were both incredibly tender, and we're spoiled by superior midwest cow and pig! We loved Puerto Vallarta as a city and vacation destination and Crown Paradise and its employees definitely made the whole experience a great memory!

Like any trip to Meh-hee-co you need to go in with an open mind, then everything else is a treat.> Crown is a nice place, as in any business some of the staff are better than others. > Lots of old(er) people, but some can be fun. > If you want the Ocean-View room you usually have to pay more. Staff claims ALL are ocean front, which means you can see the ocean, but will also see the pool and if low enough there isn't any privacy. Look at the hotel pics, the best room are the west-facing ones (up high) that do not face the pool, but just the beach. > BIG DOWNER - You have to play the beach towel game. You or your spouse (or sig-other) need to get up at 7AM, get 2 towels, and place them over pool or beach hut chairs so you have a place to lay out after breakfast (~ 10 AM). What a pain. The Krystal in Ixtapa allowed you to get in line the day before and get a paylapa (thatched hut) number so you could sleep in the following morning. I was really ****** when a few jerks (next to us) placed towels and didn't ever show up. Mean-while the poor people who were looking for a spot (with shade) had no place to go. Staff should find a better way.> Restaurants - Really fun for several nights. They try to revolve the menus, but it's basically the same 4-6 meats with various sauces. Not easy pleasing everyone so they do a pretty good job. We went out the last 3 nights. Pippi's is a must for a fun atmosphere and BEST margs & table-side whipped up guacamole. La Casita is a very small spot up in the (steep) hills with a very nice view and excellent Caesar Salad (also made in front of you). This place is one of those away from the Malecon (boardwalk). They have your standard Hooters & Carlos/Charlies, but that's hardly mixing it with the locals now is it?> Room service is the best. Check off the menu on the door knob and leave it out the night before.> Even though its a all-inclusive GET OUT!!! The Catholic parish is a trip. These people are generally very devout. Their church is fabulous, very throw-back inside (be sure to show respect, hats off, etc, etc, when inside). ---> Find yourself a good guide and take a tour that reveals PV's history. We took a city/pseudo-jungle ride where our guide Miguel was the best part of the trip. They are a poor, but proud people who realize that the rest of us made PV and its growth possible. But it is their land so they want to be treated with respect.> Have fun, don't stress about the small stuff.....

We are a couple aged 34-45 who were looking for a upscale resort that would pamper us and exceed our expectations....the Crown Paradise simply did just that!

Having been to Puerto Vallarta before, we knew we wanted a great location (the CP is perfectly located within walking distance to the marina tours, walking distance to a Wal Mart for supply shopping, and a short taxi ride to downtown PV), a staff that was helpful (the staff at the CP bent over backwards for our every need and were very friendly), and had a great beach (wide, soft sand, and plenty of palapas to catch some shade when needed). We were NOT disappointed.

The pool and hot tup were great....never ever cold and always a lot of activities you could enjoy if you wanted to be active. The activities staff does a great job at getting people involved..then puts on a very nice entertainment show at the Factory Club across the street at nights. (Later...for the party animal in you, you can go with the staff to the various dance clubs in town till 6am in the morning.....ohhh my that foam party at the Collage Club...wooooo hooooo!)

The hotel itself was spotless, attractive, and well layed out. We enjoyed an oceanfront room with an inviting patio 6 floors up and fell asleep to the breaking waves in the evenings. A perfect location to watch sunsets and arriving cruise ships. It looked to us no room here would be too bad (even if you were not oceanfront) as all had an oceanview at least....

We would recommend the food highly at nearly every area of the resort.
If we had to nitpick, the "fast food" areas were not our favorite...but the full dinners and desserts were exceptional.

The crowd our week was fun and very social. We would estimate agewise 50% over 50, 35% 30-50, and 15% under 30. From reading some earlier reviews, our biggest concern was that the crowd would be far more over retirement age, but that was not the case the week we were there. At the same time, nearly everyone were couples or in groups...making it not my first vacation resort choice if you are a single person looking to hook up.

We took advantage of the R. of the Night tour and the dune buggy adventure through the jungle and rivers and loved both tours! Also loved the poolside professional massage by the CP spa staff.

Thanks to Angie, Andrea, and Victor...and all of the other top notch staff members who really helped make our vacation special......

Bottom line, if you are looking for a great resort and spa that offers an abundace of romance and pampering, and can give you that opportunity at the perfect vacation getaway, you will not go wrong at the Crown Paradise Resort......we loved it! After many times in Mexico, this will go down as our best week ever!

Last April two friends and myself stayed at this excellent resort. The service was impecible. The pool is an infinity pool that is warm enough to just walk into without going a toe at a time. The poolside service was outstanding. All of the waiters, as soon as they learned of your personal preferrences, would often bring you your "special drink or appetizer to you as you layed around the immaculate pool area. The service personal were so wonderful, polite and extremely helpful. Often your needs were met almost before you even asked. The resort was so clean because the staff was continually cleaning every area. The outside dining room had excellent food and service. The fine dining room was on a par with any fine dining establishment. Everyone of the other guests that we spoke with loved the resort also. The only drawback we encountered was when a large group of travel agents came for a fam trip. They were extemely rude, loud and obnoxious. All of the other guests complained about them as well. PLEASE don't let one sour opinion keep you from booking this resort. We loved it so much that we will be returning this year......

There were 6 of us who traveled to PV ....ranging in ages from 31 to 41. We are a group that likes to have a good time and frankly, this wasn't the place. Most of the guests were 45 years old and up (literally guests with walkers by the pool area!) and we often times felt like we were the youngest ones there. The food, for the most part, was just satisfactory and the service was less than adequate. We often felt like we were inconveniencing the employees when we asked for a bottled water or Coke! Additionally, if you are a beer drinker, don't stay at the Crown Paradise unless you want to drink the awful "Sol" beer. This was the only one they served....we actually had to buy our own beer (Bud Lite) since the Sol made most of us sick! The liquor choices were scarce as well. For the most part, the hotel is clean and the room service attendants are friendly and hospitable....but the options for room service change during the evening so don't believe the "24 hour room service" line at all. Also, we expected to get snacks/food at all times and this wasn't the case since the food areas did shut down during the day periodically. The pool music is terrible (caters to the older crowd) and there is no swim-up bar. Bottom line: if you are a young group of travelers that is looking for a great resort with good food and nightlife, you won't find it at the Crown Paradise.

My husband and I had a really good 7 day holiday at the Crown Paradise.
We had a real quick check in and had a welcome drink brought to us right away. The room was nice with both a/c and a ceiling fan available. The dresser was a little musty smelling but there was lots of space. We loved hearing the waves from our room and preferred not to have the a/c on but enjoyed the breeze from the open balcony door. We didn't care for the timeshare salespeople who operated the "information desk" in the lobby but learned to ingnore them. We found the activity staff were very informative and provided the best orientation to the resort. We liked the fitness centre and used it a few times. We liked being able to walk along the beach and enjoyed the lounge chairs that could be under cover from the sun or sit around the pool. The venders were quite bothersome, constantly wanting to show their wares but would be respectful and continue on their way. We choose this resort because of the three a la carte resturants. We also had access to the buffet resturant at the resort beside ours if we were in a hurry. We enjoyed most of our meals but the fish is "well done" and the beef is to be avoided at all cost (it was tough, fatty and not cooked as requsted) The main courses were rather small but after having an appittizer and soup the amount was just right, especially if you wanted dessert. The drinks were either just right or a little strong. We had really good, friendly service from all staff and we were not know for tipping as some were. We went on two tours, one was "Juan Hellava Night", a pub crawl. The Hard Rock Cafe was too loud and noisy and there were not any "fun and games" as promised. The other tour we went on, that I would reccomend was a trip to "Las Callas". A boat trip where we saw whales, a sea turtle and a Manta ray. We would have enjoyed it more if it wasn't overcast that day but had various activities that we could participate in or just sit on the beach. Becareful as you can get sun burnt even on an cloudy day. My husband and I would recommend this hotel or the Playa de Oro next door.

We just returned from the Crown Paradise and it was excellent. The food is quite good, especially Salvadors. Salvadors is very classy but they are not extremely picky about the dress code which was great. The rooms were spotless and staff very friendly. It is a somewhat older crowd but the pub bar would get quite fun at night. The pool is heated and so nice. We read some negative comments before we left regarding CP but if you are not extremely picky you will love it! It was the best all inclusive we have stayed at! You can't help but have a great time in Puerto Vallarta!
