“must have been good, we bought”
Reviewed May 14, 2014

Overall the resort was great but as most places, it did have a few things we didn't like. We were there the last two weeks of January 2014 and rented 3 units, one for us, one for son, daughter in law and two children and the other for the other in laws. The buffets were tasty but poorly laid out in too many areas and stations. The food in the main dining area was good but not enough staff to get you coffee or clear dishes properly. The rule about all inclusive not including the lobster and a few other things was a bit on the cheap side considering the prices. The drinks were great but again not enough staff around the pool and beach areas. It was nice to have the sports bar to be more casual and of course as canadians, we love our hockey. The pools and beach were well maintained and clean as well as the public washroom areas. The housekeeping was very good and always on top of things. The rooms are all very large even the studios. We wish the rooms came with daily water but that too had to be purchased,,,really, how much would it cost to put a bottle of water in each day. We all enjoyed our stay but for a family with wee ones, we found too much back to the room as it wasn't close enough to the pool area to listen for napping children on the monitor. The evening entertainment really was bad and way too early. They did the show if you can call it that during eating so you couldn't even talk. I sound like we didn't like the resort but overall we must have as we bought a time share there. If you don't do the all inclusive, the prices of drinks and food in the restarant and store are way too high. When we go back we will do a few days all inclusive then cook with food from the local Costco or something for the rest.

Hotel staff was wonderful and friendly. The best part was the Activities Team and Kids Club. Karla, Jasmine and the boys were full of energy and great with the kids. Each night their performances were top notch. Food was excellent too. I would go back.

Room Tip: Rooms in the main lobby have a higher probability of WiFi

This is our third time staying at Villa Del Palmar in PV. The entire staff is so nice. Alan, the manager on duty was especially helpful and attentive. The beach is very nice and the amenities of the hotel are great. 3 pools, jacuzzis, tennis courts, bar and restaurants are great. Free rental of longboards and kayaks for the first 30 minutes daily. Mexican shows every night with a nice buffet at a good price. Happy hours twice a day. The hotel/resort is not far from the center of PV and the cost of a taxi is only 65 pesos or $5 US or the bus is available for 7.5 pesos. Many restaurants from nearby resorts also available. Nice store on the property that has reasonable prices. Games and activities for kids and adults daily.

Room Tip: Try for a room on 3rd floor or higher with views of ocean and/or the pool.

Everything about the Hotel itself was great, Concierge exremely helpful, attendants courteous and helpful. Only problem was 'time share' presentation. Had to pay my own way back ($20.00)from presentation at Villa del Palmar Flamingo as it was a 1.5 hour wait to check out of the time share presentation. I was here on a vacation and didn't want to spend it all waiting in lines.
stayed at Villa del Palmar central, great location, convenient to Malacon and Marina. Taxis relatively inexpensive, but were consistent in charges.

This is our second time staying here. My son and I stayed here last year with my cousin and enjoyed ourselves, so this year we decided to bring my wife. A very nice looking property, right up against the beach, with nice and helpful staff.

There is easy access to the bus going down town and it's only 7.5 pesos. There is a super market just down and across the street. If you're in the mood for something a bit more American (why would you be?) there's a Dominos and Pizza Hut, as well as a Burger King in close proximity. The malecon (boardwalk) is also a short bus trip down town and there are lots of restaurants to try there.

I felt safe here, as I did down town. No issues with the water at the resort as I saw one person post. We used it to brush our teeth, shower with, etc. No issues whatsoever. The rooms come with kitchenettes so you don't have to go broke going out to eat three times per day.

We looked at some of the gigantic new resorts in Nueve Vallarta. They're just too big and pricy. Why bother? Villa del Palmar gets the job done and does it well for a fair price. We probably paid around $100/night.

I highly recommend Villa del Palmar and would recommend it to friends and family.

Service from the staff was superb. No other resort in my experience has such warm people who make you feel like family when you are there. Had the same experience 2 years ago and recognized Roberto, Liz, Graciela, Mayren and Irineo at Bella California and Raymundo, Carlos and Jairo.from the Pool Bar. Also want to recognize Sandra and Paola from the Pool Bar, Alberto and Ramon from the Bella California and Edi and Daniela from the El Patron. Special recognition also to the Premium Services representatives Carolina and Adriana. Clearly the direction and vision resulting in such a warm experience is coming from upper management and I applaud their dedication and execution in motivating the staff towards this high standard of service. Thanks for a wonderful experience. I look forward to my next opportunity to stay with you folks!

Got home yesterday from our 6 day stay at Villa Del Palmar. I had researched many resorts in Puerto Vallarta before choosing VDP and my wife and I really made a terrific choice. This place is not exactly ultra luxurious, but it is a well kept, beautifully landscaped resort. And every aspect of this place is incredibily CLEAN! We didnt do the all inclusive but did eat at the resort several times. The food and drinks were delicious and all the staff at each location were friendly and eager to make your dining enjoyable. The 3 pools...(2 at VDP and 1 at Villa Del Mar next door) were beautiful and again, amazingly CLEAN! The beach at the ocean was great. Easy waves during our stay and even though we brought water shoes, we never used them. Too some, the beach vendors may be a nuisance but my wife and I enjoyed watching them pass by offering their goods as "two for one" or "almost free!" A simple smile and a "No gracias", and they continue on their way. We did a boat cruise and a city bus tour during our stay and always felt very welcome and very comfortable when returning. The Villa Del Palmar is in an ideal location, being a short bus ride from the Malecon (Mexican boardwalk...a MUST see) and the Marina. I could go on and on about how wonderful our stay at VDP was, but if you're planning to come to PV, I recommend you stay here. If you're like us, you'll love the atmosphere, the people, the food and drinks, the service, the friendliness and Mexican charm. I hope you enjoy your stay. We did. I would come back here in a heartbeat. Adios!

Room Tip: Most rooms face the main pool. If you're disappointed with your room, tell them. They will move...
