Club Velas makes you feel at home, the waiters around the pool are very friendly and quick at bringing you whatever it is you need. The rooms are great and the view is beautiful. I would definitly reccomend this hotel to anyone, the grounds are well kept up and the resturants are great also!

My family and I go on vacation every year and we always go to some place different. This was our first time to Puerto Vallarta and we loved every bit of it. We just got home yesterday and we are actually already looking into vacationing at the same resort next summer!! We couldnt have asked for better weather and the facilities were beautiful. I was very impressed by the way everyone treated us just with the most respect and love like we were their own family. Its the people that make it that much more of a special vacation! I want to name a few people that deserve to be mentioned. Christian was in charge or entertainment and activities for the resort and he did a phenomenal job. The nightlife in PV was such a blast. The resort promotes different nightclubs every evening and they cut us deals and took good care of us and made us feel comfortable going downtown to party. We hung out with the locals that worked at the resort along with Christian and we had a blast and made many good friends that I hope to stay in contact with and maybe even see next year :) Joel along with many of the other bartenders/waiters at the resort were awesome. There are no words to describe what these guys' work ethic is because it is that good.... they were always making sure we had everything we needed from a drink to food to an ice cold wash cloth to cool off. We were treated so well EVERYWHERE at this resort and it really was the best vacation EVER!!!

My husband, 13 year old son, both my son's grammas and I visited Velas Vallara for a week. We exchanged our time share and paid the extra fee for the mandatory all-inclusive. Past reviews made me worried that I would be hassled at the resort to attend their timeshare presentation. They asked us once and my husband told them no. They never bothered us again. Don't fall for the trap at the airport by other representatives. The Velas Vallarta representative will have a VIP sign after you clear immigration. She will tell you to meet her outside after you go through customs. Several people tried to insist that we needed to speak to them. We found out later that the luggage helper signals the reps to tell them where you are staying so they try to convince you that you need to speak to them. Go right past them and find the VIP girl again. We were greeted very nicely at the front desk. Our room wasn't ready because it was prior to check-in time so we ate lunch at Andrea Restaurant. The hotel room decor could be better. The walls are painted white with one picture on the wall. They use energy efficient bulbs which make the room appear a little green. It could probably use a fresh coat of paint, updated fixtures, etc.. But it is very clean. The whole place is immaculate. Everyone is extremely courteous. There are only 2 restaurants at the resort. Andrea which has indoor and outdoor seating, reservations required and serves Italian most nights with variations to the menu and the Steakhouse which only has outdoor seating and is located off the beach. It too has some theme nights. At both restaurants, they have a huge salad and appetizers buffet bar and you pick your main course off the menu. I told my mother that I thought our tables were bugged because whenever we mentioned that we would like something, it magically appeared by our waiter who seemed to be standing off in the distance. My mother even commented to me that she would like the mariachi band to play a certain song. She did not say this loud at all yet the lead singer came over and serenaded her with her requested song!!! Then there is the Aqua bar for casual swim suit attire which serves hot dogs, hamburgers, etc... There is poolside service and snacks delivered throught the day to your table or even if you are in the pool. We had a wonderful poolside waiter named Fabian for most of the week. He was amazing. There are two pools, both very warm in August with a lazy river that connects the two. The first pool is the more relaxing pool and the second is the activity pool. There are covered cabanas at the beach. There are people on the beach that try to sell items to you but they are not pushy at all. There is a pottery painting stand along side the river where you can paint the pottery and they will put a glaze on it when you are finished. My 76 year old mother did not do a very good job on her piece but when she got it back, it looked like a piece of pottery sold downtown. She was quite pleased and even thought about keeping it for herself instead of giving it as a gift.
We took the Ecotour sea turtle release tour and the marine biologists were very informative and nice. I enjoyed releasing the turtles but not the rest of the tour to the alligator farm. Sometimes the Marriot or Velas Vallarta release turtles from their hatcheries during the season, they just didn't have any turtles hatch while we were there. We also took the Vallarta Adventures Canopy Tour. The zip line was amazing, a little scary. but amazing!!! My 13 year old son loved it and wanted to go back the next day and do it again. We picked this company because they had a double line for safety. I never felt scared going across. The ladders and standing on the platforms is the intense part. There are 2 casinos located in the malls. Ask the bellhop to have the taxi driver take you to the one that stays open til 4:00am. It is very nice and clean!!
We had a wonderful time and would go back again!!!

My newlywed wife and i recently spent 10 days, 9 nights at Velas. Overall, we had a great time. First, the week we went, July 19-28, it was VERY hot and VERY humid, but that was expected. The other thing is that there were a lot of families with children. We didnt let that get to us =)

First, we arrived earlier than check in time, our room wasn't ready, but they allowed us to go have lunch first, so that is what we did. they take your bags as soon as you arrive and tag them to be delivered to your room shortly after you get to your room. We had a 1BR suite, which was very clean and very spacious. Fully stocked kitchen, with snacks and drinks in the fridge (bottled water, milk, OJ, soda, beer and even some fruit). AC was plenty cool. Balcony overlooked the pool area, and had oceanviews, most if not all rooms do, as the hotel is a horseshoe shape.

The food was great. as another reviewer mentioned, presentation was beautiful. We selected the all-inclusive option, and was a great choice. Andreas had a different themed night every night. La Ribera (ocean front) had some themed nights as well. We ate our hearts out, and was never hungry. We ordered room service a couple times as well. they dont just bring the food and leave it. They bring it in, and set it up nicely for you and make sure you're satisfied before they leave. Room was cleaned twice a day, housekeeping coming around an additional time at night to make the bed.

Have to give much credit to Javier and Carlos, 2 of the pool-side servers. They were quick and friendly and always available. there were even times when we had left our seats, to either play volleyball or take a swim, and upon returning, we were met with drinks. and not just ANY drink, the drink which we had been ordering. A little tip i believe does help. we tipped about 10pesos per drink (which roughtly equates to $1 US). Service elsewhere in the hotel was great as well. the concierge (Rolando) even remembered my name the next day after i spoke with him.

One thing i do need to add is that a few days into our stay, people started playing the "chair game". which they would put a magazine on a pool side chair and not show up for 3+ hours. this got irritating, and as much as i didnt want to "play"....you just had to if you wanted a decent seat. on our last day, we saw a warning about doing it, and that your items would be removed if you dont show up within a reasonable amoutn of time.

all in all, this was a great stay. great service, great food, great property. dont get swayed by the time share people!! just say no!!! thats what we did, and were not bothered again. 4 thumbs up to velas vallarata!
