“Our trip Feb 8-15, 2014”
3 of 5 bubbles Reviewed February 28, 2014

This was our 1st trip to PV and we did enjoy all the attractions PV has to offer. We arrived around 10;30 at night; and the front desk staff and bell boys were pleasant and helpful. I had booked an ocean view room and we ended up on the 2nd floor looking over the adult pool and towards the ocean. This room had 2 double beds; the bathroom sink was cracked in many places and the mirror didn't look like it had been wiped down for awhile. We went down for a drink at the bar and received great service. I asked the front desk for a king size bed room and they told me to check with them in the morning; I checked in the morning and after saying they couldn't move us; they found another room on the 2nd floor in the next building which was supposedly a time share room. This room was much nicer; bathroom was cleaner and the view was good as well. Careful if you want to shower though; hot water is very sporadic! The food here was okay; breakfast selection was the best; however they had fresh grilled Mahi mahi on Tuesday which was excellent. Drinks are plentiful and a good selection (they free pour everything so easy to get a little buzzed in no time!)

The cleaning staff was excellent as are the waiters, waitresses, cooks and bartenders! Layout of resort is very well kept and about a 20 minute walk to the Malecon; and only about 6 bucks canadian for a cab there. Lots of stores, shops, malls within easy walking distance.

Watch out for time share agents which are everywhere on the streets in kiosks looking like day excursion trips! Also you will get a note at hotel saying come get your free gift. Time share in lobby at hotel; which we did check out. If you are willing to spend 3-4 hours and get a couple of free excursions (we received the Rythms of the Night and the city tour for free as well as the cab ride to and from Nuerto Vallarta). Said no to the time share of course and they did make us feel bad about it but who cares!

Whale watching in the morning was great, also saw whales right from the resort and from the Malecon.
Pirate Ship night tour also worth the money and the food was fantastic as was the entertainment!

Definitely coming back to PV; but will probably try another resort just to see the differences. If you are not too picky about where you stay; this is a decent spot - great staff, okay food; and lots of booze!!

Have fun - we sure did!

Room Tip: Definitely pick ocean view rooms on the sides with adult pool (a little quieter).

I just got home last evening. What a trip and not in a good way. Greeted by not so friendly front desk staff. Were never very helpful until my son got severly ill then the call for medical help was so fast and Dr very friendly and compassionate. The beds are rocks with foamy eggshell things on them, you shower in freezing cold or scalding water, towels so dirty looking. The rooms you see on the internet are the ones on the main floor not even close to what ours looked like. Tiles coming off floor and baseboards, Water patches randomly on our floor and other rooms.Lots of people got hurt around pool also. Entertainment staff good for kids but very lazy. Night shows pretty similar just different costumes. I will say the mime show was amazing. Food was boring. Not your awesome salsa you find in mexico or guacamole.Went on tour to waterfalls and whalewatching with snorkling and lunch. So worth it.The people we met from all over were so amazing I will say it was a good resort for friendliness of travellers. The price was right but I would definately not ever stay there again.

Weather was great and was greatful to be away but beware of this resort. I rated it a 2 but would deinately not be more then a 3 for sure.

Room Tip: Not sure if any room was better cause people we met all said the same thing. Construction on things...

We arrived about 3:30 pm. Check in was pretty fast. This was our first time to Puerto Vallarta. Actually our first time to Mexico. This is the best place to stay. The staff was OUTSTANDING in their patience, personality and most of all FRIENDLINESS. Some of our favorites there are Yolanda, Azucena, Carmen, Antonio, Andrea, David, Hector, and Paco. I know we'll be back. The rooms are very clean. Only problem is HARD beds. We found out later that we could've gotten a mattress pad. That was our only problem. The view from the room was Awesome. This was the best vacation ever.

Room Tip: Best views are ocean side with a balcony. These also have a wonderful sound of the surf all the time...

3 women in a room who enjoyed the sound and view of the sea. Dr Oz would approve of the great choice at all inclusive. Walking distance to stores, buses. Good mixture of guests. Good entertainment. Very friendly staff. Great for people who dont want an impersonal high rise. Felt safe and well cared for. Would go back.

This was our first time in Puerto Vallarta, and we will absolutely be back. We chose the Las Palmas by the Sea because it was a small resort, oceanfront, close to town. We paid 1500$Can each for 10 days from Montreal through Transat Vacations, direct flight.
HOTEL: Check-in was very fast, we arrived there at 7:00pm. There were no keys for the safe that night, but got one the next morning (paid 2$ a day). Free wifi in the lobby, just ask for password. Staff were welcoming and always pleasant. Be sure to ask for a room near the adult pool, it seemed very noisy on the other side. It did get noisy some nights, but with the A/C on, didn't really bother us. We watched the sunset every night from our ocean view room (325) which was spectacular. Not much of a beach in front of the resort, but we walked everyday in both directions and there is a small man-made cove just north were we swam. No rocks there and gentle waves. It seemed like a popular swimming hole. We enjoyed the adults only pool and hot tub. They could put more chairs though, because by 7:00am, none were available. We reserved chairs early on the days we stayed at the hotel. There are no lounge chairs on the beach, and I did miss that. Most of the other hotels along the strip had them. I guess it's because the beach is not very wide in front of Las Palmas.
ROOMS: Very basic, but very clean. We always had towels, facecloths, shampoo and soap. No bathtub, but I knew this when I booked. Beds were a little hard. I missed having a mini-fridge and a coffee maker in the room. Small TV with only 2 English channels, we didn't spend much time watching TV, so it didn't matter.
FOOD: Excellent! Breakfast was especially good with many choices. Try the French toast with coconut and chocolate! The à la carte was very good and we usually had lunch in the Snack Bar, the cook made us fresh guacamole when we asked for some. Never had a bad meal. The servers were friendly and always accommodating. We were given a 50% off voucher at check-in for Blue Shrimp Restaurant and had an excellent meal there, good change from the buffet. You should use that voucher. At the bar, drinks were varied and very good. David and Edgar were excellent bartenders, keeping the drinks coming, without having to ask! Never had to wait long to get served.
What we enjoyed most about this hotel was the location. We walked for hours everyday, either on the beach or on the street. From the Marina to Downtown and the Malecon (boardwalk), we visited the Farmer's market and saw many artists. We used the bus regularly, only 15 pesos for two.
Beware of the Time Share people, they are everywhere from the airport, to the hotel, to the street, posing as excursion organizers...Very annoying. We did go visit a beautiful hotel (Grand Mayan) and were treated well until we said no to purchasing time share. We were insulted by the supervisor. He was downright arrogant and basically said we were stupid. Left there quick after that! This is why I am warning you about this.
The weather was perfect, the food was great, the views breathtaking, we will definitely be back here!

Room Tip: Oceanview by the adult pool.

Las Palmas, thank you so much for the wonderful experience! This was our first trip to Mexico and it was great. The resort is very clean, the food was great, beautiful views, nice pool areas. The staff are amazing, so welcoming and friendly, always smiling and ready to answer any questions or give directions. A special thank you to Santiago, Valentino, and Carmen for making our trip even more enjoyable! The rooms were a bit small for a family but I think there might be better rooms if we had asked, but we didn't spend much time in them so it wasn't a big deal. The weather was beautiful our entire week and the resort is very central to all that we wanted to see! Hope to see all of you again. The McDonell Family

Room Tip: Ocean view for sure!!

We would go back tomorrow if we could! The rooms are perfect, So what the beds are a little bit hard but surely nothing to whine about! Extremely clean. The lovely house keepers work their butts off and it shows!
The staff through out the entire resort are absolutely fantastic. Always greeting you with a "hola" and a big smile on their faces.
The food is definitely decent. Some stuff on the buffet is repetitive but not all and oh well... you can always go up to the grill and have them whip up something great for you!
We met some really great people on our trip and miss them already and we've only been home one day!!! Lol.
The beach area is great also. Sure the peddlers are there trying to sell you stuff but its MEXICO!! and its fun wheelin and dealin with them.
We have stayed at other resorts through out the years and with out a doubt will be returning to Las Palmas from now on.

Be sure to order the DAVID SPECIAL!!!!!! ;))))

PS... EH QUESTION MARK SMILEY FACE EXCLAMATION MARK !!!!
