Stayed at Marriott with husband and 2 preschoolers for 9 nights and had a great time! The positives: love the location, very easy to catch a bus downtown (even with a 2&5 yr old), great staff, SUPER comfy beds, huge pool, resort doesn't feel too big and the rooms were nice.
The only negative we found were the food prices were way too high! $10 for a drink is too much, all the restaurants are pricy, I am from Calgary and the food prices are less here, Marriott restaurants were comparable to Hawaii, which is extreme and they do not have any specials by the pool. Because of this we only are one meal on the property at Champions ($17 for a hamburger with one side, chicken and potatoes-small potion, no veg, $22 and the kids pasta was served with fries). We made our own breakfast and lunch and had dinner in the marina most nights. We did not have the $50 resort credit but I think Marriott should offer discounts to guests. We also stayed at Mayan Palace in the marina (separate review) and they always had a night where something was 2for1, happy hour drinks, buffets, pizza and the prices were 25% less. I think Marriott should also do this. I don't want to take away from the hotel itself because I loved everything about it, just wish we could have enjoyed reasonable food/drink prices.More
