One thing you need to realize is that this is not your usual American style chain hotel where most room are of a certain minimum quality. The rooms in this hotel are divided in the following categories, by most desirable order: beach facing suite, corner beach facing room, front beach facing room, pool facing room and street facing room. The difference in quality/beauty between the top and the bottom offerings is quite acute. If you pick any of the beach facing room you are assured a fantastic view. The non-beach facing rooms are ...well, not very good. Personally we stayed at the beach facing suite and the corner beach facing room and we loved it ( see photos ) Said that we also never bought lodging at this hotel without seeing the room first.

The other thing is that the food at the hotel is somewhat ok, but given this is Puerto Vallarta it does not stand a chance compared to the various restaurants/taco stands/etc. in the area. So save your money and walk 5 minutes in any direction from the hotel for a great meal for the same or less price of the all inclusive.

We will definitely stay here again.

Best location , staff , commodities , clean , needless to say this is the place you wanna be ! I do not recomend all inclusive cause there are too many good restos at a walking distance Mexican , Italian , French etc ... But no one beats Margarita Grill for drinks & delicious food with live music every night ! My fav spot for salsa merengue and bachata dancing oh and for mojitos and good Cuban food La Bodeguita Del Medio !! I could go on and on no matter what age you are you ll have a good time in Puerto Vallarta ... It s a shame that the beaches are only so so ! I ve been going for the past 5 years and i ll go back next year Si Dios Quieres !!

Location!Location!Location! If you want to experience the Old Town life, this is the hotel that is located within walking distance of this experience. Unfortunately, the hotel itself has some downfalls. We arrived on Sat March 22 2014 around 8:30 and even though we had paid for a king sized bed with an ocean view, we were put in room 438 which had 2 double beds and a limited ocean view. After we saw this room we said that we would pay extra for an ocean front with a king bed but we were told that there was nothing available until Monday.Room 438 had a shower which had no water pressure but we did not complain because we knew that we would be moving in a couple of days.On Monday,we moved into room 202, which has an awesome oceanview and small balcony. Even though we had to pay an extra $30/night for this room ,it was worth it. The balcony door did not slide very well and even though 2 different repairmen came in to look at it, it was never repaired. The beds in both rooms were hard and tended to be uncomfortable. We did not have the all inclusive meal package and except for paying for a mediocre breakfast buffet one morning we can't comment on the quality of the food.Overall,we found the rooms and resort to be clean but there was a musty smell in the bedrooms especially closets..Daily maintenance was very evident. The beach area was great. There was no problem picking up a 6 pack at the OXXO on the corner and bringing it down to the beach. There was always plenty of loungers, just not on the front row. The front desk people were efficient. This resort has a great location for easy access to the restaurants and bars. The Sea Monkey was our favourite. Even though there are some problems, we enjoyed our week at Playa Los Arcos.

Stayed here end of March 2014 with daughter and her friend for their spring break. After reading the negative reviews I was a little nervous about the room. We had a 3rd flood pool/ocean view near the elevator. I was happy with the room, but yes, it is a little musty smelling which you get used to, until you get home and then you smell it again on your "clean" clothes and suitcase. The air conditioner worked fine, didn't seem to have a medium setting, either on or off, so was a little chilly in the evening, but it drowned out any noise from the elevator or pool area. I slept great. Thebathroom was very small, way too small for 3 females. The toilet lid would not stay up unless the tank lid was pushed back off the tank otherwise it would fall and hit us in the back. I contemplated buying some duct tape to hold the lid up, but just moved the tank cover back every day after the maid left. Had a nice in room safe, but no refriderator, which would have been nice. The balcony was one of the smallest, but it was big enough for us and had a nice view of the pool and if you leaned, the beach. Beware of the chairs, they are painted white and if you sit to long the paint comes off on your clothes, so put down a towel you don't care about or you will have white paint on your pants like I did!

We did not eat at the hotel at all, way too many places to eat, the hotel is in an excellent location, we never had to take a bus or cab anywhere.

I am a fairly low maintenance person so I would stay here again, but request a bigger room with a balcony (I noticed some pool view rooms did not have balaconys). If you need someone to wait on you at the pool or beach you will be disappointed, no pool service at all that I ever noticed and the beach service was understaffed, had to wait 45 min. for a coke, so I just went and bought my own in the little lobby store after that. The beach is nice, has a rocky strip under the water, but smooth after that, so bring some water shoes if your feet are sensitive. The yougurt place next door (beach side) was very good.

I had no problems with the staff, but didn't really interact with them too much, the lady at the front desk was a little intimidating, but she seemed efficient at her job. maid service was good, lobby people were helpful when I had any questions. FYI - lots of iguanas, which are kind of freaky the first time you see them because they are all around the pool area, on the roofs and on balconys. They were somewhat like squirrels, fairly tame, but would run off if you got too close (kids), so if that is something that would bother you I would not stay here (and keep your balacony door closed) As I said, a nice place, I would stay again, but if you expect a lot from a hotel you may want to look somewhere else.

Room Tip: Elevator only goes to the 3rd floor, but there are 4 floors so you will need to walk a flight at lea...

Good hotel for the value! The staff member were very nice and always ready to help. My room was in the 4th floor with a large balcony with view to the pool and the ocean. The hotel is locate in a very safe area in the heart of PV and you can walk at any time and at any point of the city from the hotel!
I will definable go back!

I recently was there and I found this great hotel because one recommendation of my taxi driver. Mr. Shary was very kind and friendly as all the people of Puerto Vallarta. The hotel is located in the center next to the beach and the spectacular ocean view. I had the all inclusive plan thanks to Ms. Martha from the front desk, all the staff is very helpful and friendly. The maid service is excellent. The room was very spacious and comfortable. Also they have an ecological program where you can decide when your towels and blankets will be cleaned. Simply leave the towels and the blankets on the floor and the maids will take it. The breakfast is buffet and is delicious. The only complaint could be that the waiters needs more training specialy in the details, have ready coffee and milk is a particular point. Also never leave unattended the clients. I am pretty sure that they will made an effort to improve it. Finally the sunset is the best at Puerto Vallarta. Romantic dinner at night near to the beach is a plus. And it have to be the best place to get married. Congratulations and I will recommend this hotel.

Playa Los Arcos Hotel Beach Resort & Spa is in the heart of the Old Town. It is a totally different experience than the resorts in the hotel zone. The rooms are small, simple and clean. The staff at the desk is super friendly and the maid service is great. The only thing that could have been improved upon service wise was the service in the pool area. We were not on the all inclusive plan but we were ready to eat and drink at the pool everyday. No one ever checked on us. If we wanted something we had to walk up to the bar which wasn't that big of a deal but the staff at the bar really didn't seem that keen on serving us. Still overall I loved the hotel. Pool area is fun and best of all the hotel itself is within walking distance of more shopping and dining then you would ever need.

Room Tip: Elevator on the Restaurant side of the hotel only goes to the 3rd floor so if stairs are an issue as...
