We spent 4 nights/5 days here with a wedding party. We had a fantastic time in PV, but the hotel was not the reason. Being with all of our friends/family for a wedding made this trip magical. There are a few (very few) pros to this hotel. I agree with everyone's rave reviews of the location. Beautiful area, very close to the Malecon (which is fantastic at night)! Beautiful beach front- however, being a public beach makes it very hard to relax when you have street vendors trying to sell you something every 3 seconds. Literally...they start to make you a little crazy while trying to relax in a lounge chair. (Not the hotels fault though) The pool area was beautiful and very well kept. The only positive thing about our room was the view (323). Balcony view was the pool and the ocean. The Cons start wtih the nasty rooms. I understand this is an old hotel, however- the rooms should still be cleaned and maintained. Like many other reviews have stated, our room was very tiny, smelled of must and had hairy mold growing in the bathroom. Little to no water pressure for the showers. One of the members of our party had the water shut off completely on her while showering, twice! The beds were extremely hard and ours had broken springs that were terrible on our backs. The All Inclusive food was edible, that is about all. Boring buffet with no variety. Each day, (almost each meal) was the same items on the buffet. None of the food stood out to me as good. Although I did enjoy the snack grill that is open from 12-5pm. Next to the pool area- you can order burgers, sandwiches, nachos, quesadillas, etc...Decent tasting items there. I just don't want to eat a burger for 3 meals a day-for 5 days. Fresh juice daily was an awesome bonus though! Delicious! Cocktails were good- most Servers were fantastic. Front desk personnel, not so much...
I will however add, the hotel did a fantastic job on our friends wedding! The Bride, Groom and guests were all very pleased with the wedding, reception food, drinks and privately hired DJ. After all, the wedding is the reason we went.

Room Tip: As they did to each couple in our party, they will try and put you in their worst rooms first, tell...

This was our second time to stay a Playa Los Arcos. Don't let the negative reviews keep you away. Yes the rooms are small, and the noise from downtown can be loud, but the prime location and amenities make this a fun stay. We have stayed there for 3-4 days prior to heading out to N. Vallarta for the bulk of our vacation. The hotel has Colonial Mexican charm. The restaurant and bar are great for a quick meal, snack or adult beverage. There is an adjoining spa and terrific beach access to one of the favorite beaches in Puerto Vallarta...the best for people watching. The staff is friendly and helpful.
What we like best is the proximity to everything. A short walk to great restaurants....lots of them. Shopping, from simple Mexican shops to boutiques to the Mercado or flea market. There is a Oxxo (convenience store) at the end of the block. A great liquor store (La Playa) just down the street with an excellent selection of tequilas. A pharmacy across the street. Everything you might need. It is located at the southern end of the Malecon. It makes a great morning walk or senic stroll to enjoy the ocean, famous sculpture and performance art. We love downtown Puerta Vallarta, and Playa los Arcos is a great way to enjoy it.

The location could not be better, and the facilities at the hotel and near have a lot to offer. The rooms are average, but the pool area is nice and the ocean views unbeatable. The staff was very friendly, and for the price, we thought it was a good value.

We stayed at Playa Los Arcos for two nights. This is the largest of three locations owned and operated by Los Arcos. While this location is nice, with ocean view rooms available, it is clearly much better for families with children. Couples should opt for one of the smaller locations, which are one block away.

Room Tip: Ask for an upper floor room that does not overlook the pool, which can get noisy.

We had a suite for 2 weeks (tried to find another place but since this was the hight season in PV, could not find another hotel that could accommodate us for 2 weeks). Uncomfortable beds, 2 small old TVs, the living room TV was so fuzzy you could not watch it. On the second day, had a flood in the kitchen from the refrigerator - this was never fixed. The staff just draped towels around it which did not help. Later that day we had to put all our bath towels on the floor so we would not have to walk in the water. This is a "family oriented" hotel which means, all day thru, screaming kids in the pool right below our window. We had an old worn out dresser, when you opened a drawer it was almost impossible to shut it again.
Our housekeeping gal was friendly and did her best to help us with our stay. Also, all the staff was friendly but this did not make up for the crummy environment.

This is not so much a resort hotel as it is just a hotel. Rooms are very small and you almost cannot turn around in the shower. Someone who is rather large would have a very difficult time. IT was hard to get the suitcase to the other side of the room since the end of the beds almost hit the wall. The food was mediocre, just not the cuisine I like to eat when in Mexico. I didn't pick it for the food even tho we had All-Inclusive, that was for the drinks ;) Which was nice to have when we had a chill day on the beach, they will set you up with a beach chair and umbrella if you like and a waiter will come by to bring you drinks! You also in a great location, this is what they call the Romantic Zone and just about anything you want is within walking distance. Make sure you go across the street on the corner to Takos Panchos, you welcome! The hotel staff was very nice and hard working as one would expect in Mexico and overall our stay was great. If you are just looking to sleep and get out and explore then this is a great central location for you. There are not many hotels on the beach this central.

Playa Los Arcos is definitely in a fantastic location. The Zona is so cool - really have to experience it. Horrible rooms. Old musky smell. The rooms seem "flop house" you really have to suck it up to stay here and sleep. This place has been needing a renovation for probably 10 or maybe 20 years. Creeped out really - could I catch something? I don't know why they can't find the capital and bring this place up. We booked two days and managed to stay one night only. PTSD caused us to leave next day. It is really too bad though. With a renovation this place really has potential.

Room Tip: Please ask to look at your room before making payment.
