“Oustandin hotel and staff”

We just returned from 5 days and 4 nights. The hote is absolutely terrific and the staff is without question the friendliest and most dedicated we've had anywhere.
The theme restaurants are a bit difficult to schedule but that's probably becasue the hotel was sold out.
The pool area is very, very nice as is the entire property.
Do yourself a big favor and sped some time at the Buenaventura and enjoy the all inclusive experience.

Good day trippies!

This is one of my most difficult reviews. I have great and negative things to say about the Buenaventura.

Here's the good:

1.) location ia amazing. Very close (walking disance) to the malecon (boardwalk) with restaurants clubs and shops.

2.) 5 star+ staff. Here lies the key to the Buenaventura. Without the great staff I would not recommend the Buenaventura. The staff are friendly, accomadating and really do go above and beyond.

Expect royal treatment at the poolside bars. Hit them with some fair tips your first day and you will get flooded with service.

3.) bar and retaurants: the drink bars are awesome and the bartenders are great. Expect good drinks.

The onsite restaurants are good. I would NOT classify them as amazing by any stretch.

If you're on an all-inclusive and don't mind paying for amazing meals take a walk down the malecon. There are plenty of restaurants serving incredible local food at good prices.

NOW FOR THE BAD:

Our first room had nasty black mold all over the bathroom roof. I did take pictures and show them to the hotel manager who immediately was sincerely apologetic. I got the impression that if cleaning staff don't report this stuff it doesn't get fixed.

For a little more per night he upgraded us to a junior suite. It is fairly nice. We had the suite for five days. This had moldy tiles in the shower and a jacuzzi that was too gross to use.

On the last day we had a two queen bed room. Again the moldy shower tiles etc.

In summary the rooms are surface nice and surface clean. But once you spend a day or two in the rooms you tend to feel like they are gross.

IF you spend a lot of time outside the room and want to be pampered with service the Buenaventura is for you.

If you like to spend some time in a nice clean room to unwind after tours and beaching well... I have to say you're better off somewhere else.

Personally I like good service and I think a spotless clean room should be the standard for any hotel. On my next visit to Puerto Vallarta I will pass on the Buenaventura.

Me and my husband stayed here for 3 nights with another couple. The food was ok, nothing spectacular. The wait staff was pretty good.
The rooms were clean and plenty of towels. The wireless internet was nowhere to be found! We even changed rooms to get a better conncection and it was mediocre.
Beach towels were provided out in the pool area. The pool was not very clean, due to many children staying in the hotel and jumping in from the beach without showering off.
They only had one type of beer on tap which was not very good. In the rooms they provided a few different types in cans. The alcohol used for the drinks was bottom of the line.
I didn't care for the beach area by the hotel, the surf was a bit rough. This hotel is okay for the younger partying crowd. If you are more reserved and like to be pampered this hotel is not for you.
It was great for the price, but like I said I don't think I would return.

Everything at the Buenaventura was perfect. The location, the room, the pool, the food, and most of all the staff. From the front desk, to the concierge, to room service delivery at 4am, everyone couldn't have been more kind and accommodating (especially Fausto by the pool). The a la carte dinners we went to were very good, but it was very hard to top the buffet that was excellent.

The LGBT nightlife in Zona Romantica was about a 20 minute walk, or about a $4 cab ride. We walked to Blue Chairs Beach almost every day, which took about 25 mins. The walk is very enjoyable and very safe at ANY hour of the day.

See you next year!

It was my first trip to PV and not really knowing the layout of the city the location of this hotel was perfect. It is close to the melecon - about 5 minutes - which is a boardwalk along the beach you can walk to old town or zona romantica and great for powerwalking in the morning. 50 pesos cab to the mall or harbour. The mall looks great from the outside but doesn't really have much to offer. The harbour is where water tours depart from. The pool area of the hotel was great the staff is amazing. If it wasn't for them this place would be on the outs. 24 hour room service was great. The food was not very good for me but i am a vegetarian and my friend the carnavour loved it. This is the first time i hardly gained any weight! They had gret chips and guacamole, slushy fruity drinks and lots of desserts. One caveat my friend got sick there and i got very sick 3 days after i returned. I would not like to post my symptoms however they are like a horror movie. Was it the hotel or from out of the hotel??? I only know from know on i will get that dukoral or whatever it is called. Next year if i go to PV i will stay here again most likely or perhaps mismaloya.

We have been to this resort before, never during the month of January, while our stay was still extremely enjoyable, a couple of things should be noted. The hotel seems to have a small problem with ants, and should address it before it becomes a very large problem. The other thing worth noting, is the pool area. Very clean and well kept, but the hotel should address the issue of people "reserving" thier pool lounge chairs and umbrellas. Every morning, certain chairs were "reserved" with magazines etc. left on top of them, and these people didnt use the chairs or umbrellas til after 430 pm. There were older folks on holiday who couldnt spend any time at the pool at all because of the lack of available chairs and umbrellas. I have never stayed at a resort which had this problem before, seems to be a easy problem for the hotel to look at fixing, considering it was the same individuals day after day doing this. Most people on vacation are considerate and realize they arent the only people paying to stay at the resort. That being said, I would return, the staff at this resort are incredible and go out of their way to make sure your stay is fantastic.

We have been coming to PVR for several years and usually stay at the Intercontinental or Playa Los Arcos and never knew about the Buenaventura Hotel. We were supposed to come in mid Dec but my partner got H1N1 and we could not travel. We called the hotel and tried to rebook without penalty but could not do it. The front desk manager, Mr. Felix said that when we rebook he will upgrade us to a better room to try to compensate for our loss. In mexico promises do not usually happen but to our surprise and pleasure we rebooked for a week in Jan. and when we arrived our room was upgraded to the Honeymoon suite. We were so pleasantly surprised at the service and the ambiance of the hotel that we probably will never go to either of the other two hotels but will be surely coming back to this hotel. Our room had a jacuzzi and flat screen Tv and a view of the ocean. Everyone working in this hotel was a pleasure.
