“One of our favorite evenings in PV in the last 21 years”
Reviewed January 28, 2010

I have been to Casa Isabel/Madison South once before, but not for dinner, mostly just to look. However, on this trip, we couldn't wait to dine there and I must say, we all agreed that it was one of our favorite evenings ever spent in PV. We arrived at 6:00pm and didn't leave until midnight. We were greeted by Isabel, the owner, and since my husband had never been there before, Isabel wisked us away to give him a tour.
After the tour, we sat at a perfect table to watch the sunset. and captured many beautiful pictures.
I ordered the coconut shrimp and it was amazing! After dinner we had the Mexican coffee and the banana flambe - both were great - and the presentation was outstanding.
After dessert, we sat and visited with Isabel, what a wonderful person she is!
We returned another night just to stop by and say hi to the the staff and Isabel...and we each ordered a margarita, very good and a resonable price.
I can't say enough wonderful things about this place, the staff, the view and Isabel!! Can't wait until our return trip to PV just so we can dine here again!

“An amazing experience.”
Reviewed January 25, 2010

Casa Isabel sits high atop Puerto Vallarta and commands an extraordinary view of the town and bay. While the food is excellent, the presentation of that food is beautiful, and the view is unsurpassed, what sets Casa Isabel apart is the quality of the people who take such pride in their establishment. The waiters Arturo and Eliceo were particularly wonderful. The absolute highlight of our amazing trip to Puerto and Nuevo Vallarta, however, was meeting Isabel herself. What a woman! She opened her doors to us, gave us a tour of her private residence, and treated us to a round while she regaled us with stories of her life. Visiting this restaurant is an experience not to be missed. . . just be open to the experience.

“Great View, Good Food, & Charming Hostess”
Reviewed January 21, 2010

The setting for Casa Isabel is high above the city overlooking the Bay. But this restaurant is perfectly situated to see a sunset or the lights of the city below as the day slowly gives way to the night.

An inexpensive taxi brought us up the high hillside. Worth it when you realize how steep the streets are. The steps up lead you to a stunning poolside then another flight brings you to the restaurant. A table for eight was awaiting our group but a request for several separate checks appeared to anger the waiter.

In defense of diners who continuously need to try to figure out what each owes, I agree with this. I don't drink or have fancy cocktails before the meal, never ask for flaming or desert coffees, and hardly ever ask for desert, yet I am continuously asked if it's OK to split the bill 8 ways invariably getting a huge tab for my lone entrée and coke. It simply isn't fair. Do it however you can, just simply tell us how much each person's bill was. After all, our group was automatically charged 15% since we were 8. The waiter was simply annoyed and made us aware of it. Because of this, our tips which are normally in the 20% or more range became exactly what the billed amount was.

The views of sunset were wonderful. The meals were beautifully sculpted and reasonably priced. Most main courses include a soup . Incredibly tasty soup. But the Fillet Mignon was wonderful. All in all a very nice meal and a view to return to see.

The lovely owner Isabel came by our table and asked to see if we were enjoying our meal. Then she offered to give us a tour of some of the rooms, suites and private terraces of Casa Isabel. She is obviously very proud of what her hotel has become. And rightfully so.

But a word of advice. Choose your seat carefully. The restaurant has 3 massive TV sets that continuously show different channels. It's very annoying. I luckily had my back to them while others in my group had to endure these annoying screens. A fine dining restaurant should not have this type of shinny and distracting recall to what we left behind up north at home.

We come to Mexico to relax and enjoy our food. Not to sit and eat while watching television with or without the sound turned off.
