Cas Fantasia is now under new management by Ipolito who is a partner with the original owners.
They have opened it with re-done interiors and as of this week a full restaurant serving three meals a day in the lovely Courtyard. Good food, reasonable prices and an enthusiastic staff. Still a bit chaotic this early but seems very promising. Behind Vista del Sol and Molino de Agua Condos, a block off the Beach

We stayed at Casa Fantasia for one night. The property is conveniently located in the Zona Romantica. The Malecon is a short walk away and there is lots to do nearby. Casa Fantasia has a pretty, small pool in the courtyard next to the eating area. We had a lovely happy hour with other guests with plenty of champagne and also appetizers. The breakfast the next morning was freshly made and very generous. It was very good. The rooms are decorated with a variety of artwork and other collectibles. It feels as though you are visiting someone's home. We liked it.

My husband and I spent 3 days at the Casa and I have mixed feelings. We arrived with nobody to greet us, luckily there was a guest there and he took us to our room. The room was large, but had a musty smell and could use some plants or flowers for sure. I had read a couple other reviews regarding the cleanliness of the place, but our room was very clean. The property is beautiful and Ernie's artwork and antiques are amazing. Champagne cocktail hour is fantastic, Ernie is a generous host! Breakfast is wonderful, his staff do an amazing job!! Unfortunately for us, the Casa is located in a very noisy area but only one block from the beach; there is a small pool which is very refreshing. If I had a complaint it would be that the staff are there to cater to Ernie first and the guests second. My husband woke up and asked for coffee and was told no, he had to wait for breakfast. I think we were expecting a little more from the staff and wanted to feel like we were being catered to, but this is not the case. Ernie scolded another guest for having his laptop out, which seemed a bit harsh. Keep in mind that Ernie is 84 years old and recently lost his partner of almost 60 years. If you don't mind the noise but love art and antiques, then I would recommend this place for you. It is for sale, but at the price they are quoting, I doubt it will sell anytime soon.

My boyfriend and I were amazed by the beauty of this cozy place and the warmth of the owner Ernie and the hosts Ipolito, Maria and Jamie. Jamie communicated with us via e-mail, sent us excellent directions and made us feel welcomed even before we arrived in Puerto Vallarta. When we entered this house, we felt like we were in a botanical garden surrouned by tropical plants that Ipolito took perfect care of. The house is like a museum filled with antique pieces that Ernie collected all of his life. It was a wonderful surprise when we were invited to the happy hour and got to talk to these wonderful people. Maria took great care of the housekeeping and the room was in perfect order and clean. Ipolito cooked delicious breakfast. There is nothing not to love about this place and we will definitely come back to it in our future travels to Puerto Vallarta.

Room Tip: Room #4 on the second floor is quiet and cool with air conditioner.

Great location, the staff is wonderful and the breakfasts were superb, but the cleanliness leaves a lot to be desired. The room furnishings are sparse, only two pillows on the bed, light bulb out. We had the bee problem mentioned elsewhere, plus the bathroom sink drain was completely clogged...with dead bees. We left ahead of schedule. Sadly, one of the European owners died recently and the property is for sale which may explain some of the problems but it really needs some TLC to bring it up to speed.
