My boyfriend and I were amazed by the beauty of this cozy place and the warmth of the owner Ernie and the hosts Ipolito, Maria and Jamie. Jamie communicated with us via e-mail, sent us excellent directions and made us feel welcomed even before we arrived in Puerto Vallarta. When we entered this house, we felt like we were in a botanical garden surrouned by tropical plants that Ipolito took perfect care of. The house is like a museum filled with antique pieces that Ernie collected all of his life. It was a wonderful surprise when we were invited to the happy hour and got to talk to these wonderful people. Maria took great care of the housekeeping and the room was in perfect order and clean. Ipolito cooked delicious breakfast. There is nothing not to love about this place and we will definitely come back to it in our future travels to Puerto Vallarta.

Room Tip: Room #4 on the second floor is quiet and cool with air conditioner.

Great location, the staff is wonderful and the breakfasts were superb, but the cleanliness leaves a lot to be desired. The room furnishings are sparse, only two pillows on the bed, light bulb out. We had the bee problem mentioned elsewhere, plus the bathroom sink drain was completely clogged...with dead bees. We left ahead of schedule. Sadly, one of the European owners died recently and the property is for sale which may explain some of the problems but it really needs some TLC to bring it up to speed.

Ipolito & Maria are exceptional hosts taking fantastic care of us during the 11 days we were in PV. The breakfasts are amazing! Great pool, cool little pool area and the rooms are large, clean and in good condition with air-conditioning and ceiling fan. The location is perfect, just a block off the beach surrounded by great cafes, restaurants and bars. We stayed here in September which is the quiet season and in peak times it would probably be a vibrant bustling area and possibly a little noisy. Absolutely loved our stay here and would definitely be back next time in PV

We found Casa Fantasia by chance, hidden between hotel resorts. Ipolito was welcoming and as there was nobody else than us, he took the time to show us the different rooms. They are all lovely; We choose one at the 1st floor: As we had a long trip by bus, I stayed to have a rest : 1st problem . the room was full of bees ; I killed about 5 ones, of course I closed all windows and use the spray: But nothing to do, plenty of bees appears regularly: By checking if there was a hole somewhere, I saw several dozens of insects dead for a long time... No broom or vacuum cleaner exists in Mexico ? Later, my book felt under the bed ; when I took it, oh my god, it was full of litters and dusts: We asked for another room at the ground floor. as it seems newer, it was cleaner. But it smells the humidity + dusts worst than the 1st room. This time, no bees but cockroaches (1 dead when we arrived + 3 before going to sleep). At the evening, new guests were playing guitar without checking if they were disturbing someone (they saw us coming back home). No champagne happy hour were available.
Truly, we enjoyed these few nights to Casa Fantasia because the house is beautiful, quiet, close to everything and Ipolito was really nice. The breakfast was also excellent: But we won t go bak as it was too dirty with a notice in every room to remind we have to give tips.

If you truly want to experience real service at an incredible value, try visiting with Ernie, Ipolito and Jorge at Casa Fantasia. Forget the expensive 5 star resorts to the north of Puerto Vallarta. This little oasis in the heart of Viejo Vallarta is truly a gem. From a full breakfast to the champagne happy hour each evening, the friendly atmosphere, and extensive hacienda accommodations provide every thing to make your vacation a memorable experience. It is just an experience you have to try to appreciate.
