Cheeky Monkey is a great example of many years of culinary ascension in Mexico; where once many years ago the restaurants that existed for tourists were clumsy at best, there has been a move towards sophistication and competent execution. The food and the service are well calculated to appeal to the 'amigos' with pasta, burgers and pizza. I had a variation of a regional dish - camarones diablo. The large but chewy shrimp were smothered in a tangy tomatoe sauce to the point where the garlic and butter taste of the shrimp were lost. A bit disappointing. If you want Mexican food, this is not the place. If you like cheap drinks, a view and American food like you're used to at Montana's or Chili's, and there's nothing wrong with that, this is the place for you.
