I stayed at Villa Elena for a few days and loved it. I had left the frozen, frigid icy sidewalks of New York behind me for this tropical paradise. It's up a hill in the jungle, looking out over the broad blue Pacific. Sunshine, birdsong, a hammock by the pool. My room was excellent. Comfortable bed, great linens...I was a happy camper. Vallarta is bawdy and a bit tourist tawdry...in other words, a LOT of fun...Villa Elena, offers the perfect place to recover before going back for more. I took the bus - virtually from the front gate - into town for about twenty-five cents, and a late-night taxi back for about four dollars. It's a great place for singles or families. The staff are wonderful...tip them generously, they deserve it!
