“Loved it”
Reviewed December 29, 2010

Loved it when it was downtown, still as good at the new place in front of the tropicana. Much nicer outdoor atmosphere at the bigger place. Try for either lich or dinner drinks are strong and not overpriced. If you want real Mexican food with a sophisticated taste, give it a try. Make a reservation. They seem overpowered with people at the higher place.

“Surprisingly Unique Dining Experience in PV's Romantic Zone”
Reviewed December 28, 2010

On our final night of a two-week vacation in Puerto Vallarta, we decided to return to Gourmet Fusion for our third experience. This restaurant originally captured our attention on walks to and from the Los Muertos beach area, so we decided to give it a try early in the vacation and we were super impressed from the moment we entered. It is on a corner and occupies a hillside location, starting with the outdoor brick patio/ garden area at Amapas St. and continuing up the Pilitas Street side with an outdoor balcony area, an indoor bar and dining area and then further on up to a roof-top seating location. The design of the restaurant fits beautifully with this particular section of old Puerto Vallarta and feels extremely comfortable. Lighting is good, tables are spaced a decent distance apart, music is soft and conducive to the classy dining experience and the wait staff is ready to please from the moment you are seated. The menu features many interesting items. During the Christmas holiday period, it even included a turkey dinner special ($27 US) with all the trimmings, an unusually-tasty scallop salad, a unique blend of squash and corn soup and a finale of pumpkin pie. We visited this restaurant 3 times during our two weeks in PV and were always pleased with our decision. The menu offers many interesting choices, from Mexican to European and beyond. Tonight, for our final meal there, we had the mahi-mahi encrusted with coconut and the salmon with an unbelievably tasty topping (fine herbs sauteed with peppers and other treats). Pumpkin and coconut pie topped off the evening and were amazingly good. The wine list included some decent wines. We opted for some Chilean sauvignon blanc and Cabernet-Carmenere, both excellent choices and reasonably priced (by the glass or bottle). The host of this restaurant, Gene, adds that special touch that many restaurants lack. He is super charming and eager to please. We enjoyed every minute of our three dining experiences at Fusion Gourmet during December 2010 and can't wait to visit once again in the New Year. We wish Gene and his amiable staff a Happy New Year!

“Awful food served awfully slowly”
Reviewed December 26, 2010

I have been coming to Puerto Vallarta for 4 years now, and up until tonight I never had a bad meal. Fusion Gourmet is, simply put, terrible. To start, our server was extremely slow and repeatedly got our orders wrong. In addition, the appetizers were so bad that nobody at my table took more than two bites before giving up on them (the ceviche in particular was abysmal). The main course tasted fine, but was cold and poorly portioned. The only redeeming quality came in the form of the drinks, which were adequate.

“Best in town”
Reviewed December 19, 2010

We have been going to Puerto Vallarta for 15 years now, each year restaurants come & go. Three years ago we were fortunate to come across a little restaurant called the Fusion Gourmet, this was a once in a lifetime restaurant to come upon , we had a meal that was to die for, we went back three time in two weeks, we do like to try different restaurant otherwise we would have eaten there every night.
We were fortunate to find them just two months after they opened, I do not normally do this but I took a handful of there little pamphlets & handed them to people we have met there over the past 15 years, I even left them in our hotel, (cannot say which hotel because they might not have been happy that I was promoting another restaurant when our hotel has two very good restaurants.).

My husband was on google earth looking around Puerto Vallarta & went down the road that "Fusion Gourmet" was on, he was very disappointed that it looked like it was no longer there, (as I said they come & go).
Well to our delight one of our friends is already there this year (Dec 2010) & they knew we were upset about it maybe not being open anymore, they said that it has moved & a bigger place than before. It is so nice to see that some people can make a go of things but they really know how to cook & prepare food. This is an "A" one eating place & is a very reasonably priced.

Please do yourself a favour and go try it, you will never regret it
