This is a must do while in Puerta Villarta. Little on the expensive side but well worth it. The views are exceptional. Linens and tableware were beautiful. Get there just before sunset. Food very good and service was exceptional.

Like other reviewers we were not sure where we were going but once you walk thru the door- magic. Check out it's interesting history.

We found this by accident! It's location is behind the Cathedral in Old Puerto Vallarta. The outside looked like nothing they opened the door and it was stepping into another world. This used to be a Monastary so it had niches everwhere. We went to the roof top and it was fabulous. You had a view of the ocean, the mountains and all of the old town. They had traditional entertainment. The food was good, cocktails good a decent wine list. the wait staff were great. this so made our trip, we were staying at an all inclusive place and wanted a change. We sure got it. Definately would go back that is what all 4 of us said. This is a great place for couples or friends. It would be okay for families if the children were older, don't think it's for small children. I think maybe teens.

First of all, the atmosphere is magical and elegant. Chairs are amazing and comfortable, linens and tableware quite luxurious. And yes, depending on where you are seating, the view is lovely, though other restaurants also have outstanding views.

We were a party of eight and not seated near the railing so only a few at our table could see the view. Our server presented himself in a professional manner and we ordered some wine while we studied the menu and soon placed our orders. It took over 40 minutes for the first courses to arrive. Everyone seemed reasonably pleased with their choices. I had the smoked salmon carpaccio and my husband had the seared tuna medallions. Both were nicely plated and very tasty. After our plates were cleared we waited another 40 minutes for the entrees to arrive. The place was busy but not full so it seems that the kitchen is too small for the capacity of the restaurant. During this second wait, our server was nowhere to be seen and it took some doing to get our water glasses refilled and the wine replenished. Some of the main courses were luke warm but most of us thought the food was acceptable, not great and certainly not worth such a long wait.

Prices on the menu are shown both in pesos and in dollars which may be confusing as the exchange rate varies. Our check had a gratuity of 20% added though marked as "suggested" or "optional" or something. Although we thought 20% was overly generous, by this time 3 1/2 hours had passed and we were all anxious to get home so just paid the bill and left.

To sum it up: lovely setting, mediocre service, food very good but there are better places. The prices are higher than in almost every other restaurant in Vallarta, including many that have much better food and service.

Take the time sunday morning and have lunch at the Hacienda Angel. This is a museum in itself. The food is delicious. wondering violinist and he is good. You are sitting about even with the top of the dome of the church. The church bells at to the enjoyment of the event. Make reservations and take a taxi to the Hacienda.

This is an excellent place to eat. The food was ok but just the atmosphere is amazing! The view and the music are great. To get in you have to knock on a door it's very strange but you walk into this beautiful old hacienda with many little things to look at. Then you walk upstairs to this awesome patio with live music and a great view! We had mussels calamari scallops and tuna as our appetizer they were all great. Then we had the coconut shrimp soup to me it was too heavy. Then we had the main courses which were pretty good. And I highly suggest you make a reservation!! Hope my review was helpful!
