“An annual must do”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed June 14, 2013

We had been encouraged by a friend to dine at this beautiful restaurant. All of Vallarta's wonderful dining options kept our calendar too full to accommodate her recommendations. Until two years ago. Our only regret is that we waited so long!

HSA is now on our list of must go to restaurants each year during our month stay. The moment you enter the main building you know you have found a treasure. Just walking through the beautifully angelic themed rooms and courtyard to the dining room is magical. The view of the Bandaras Bay from above the Guadelupe church is spectacular, only improved if you experience one of PV's colorful sunsets.

The table linens are lovely, with lace-edged, embroidered napkins. The formally attired servers have offered courteous and prompt attention on our visits. The food is good, not always excellent, but certainly on par with any number of local upscale dining options.

What puts HSA over the top is the early evening presence of the classically trained Mariachi. These musicians add a delightful touch to a dining experience that is already memorable.

The hundreds of candles glowing in the courtyard as you leave is a final memory to hold onto until you return to this lovely place again, on your next visit to beautiful Puerto Vallarta.

“First time visit during Restaurant Week”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed June 10, 2013

A wonderful visit during May's restaurant week. With a set menu of $299 pesos,($25 US) the dinner was excellent. I started with tomatillo soup, a main course of New York steak with Portobello mushrooms and a double chocolate tart for dessert. The view of the city was very nice, service was amazing and we had a large mariachi band to entertain us during dinner. This restaurant is one of the more expensive ones in Vallarta but it was great to try it during a set menu time. I ordered a lemonade and the price was 65 pesos ($5.50 US) for a small glass with no refill. Prices for wine started around $150 pesos per glass. A special place to celebrate a birthday or anniversary.

“The finest dining in PV!”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed May 28, 2013

Charming, romantic, elegant and entertaining! Make sure you check that they are open (they close from the end of May until October or November. Then, make sure you make your reservation for one of the two nights they have the music each week!!!!!!!!!! Make it for 30 minutes before the music will be starting! You get a fabulous dinner with a full concert included!!! Great food, expensive, but if you take into account the entertainment it is so worth it! Sweeping views above the old cathedral, looking out to the ocean. Secret passageway into the hacienda makes it feel very special! Take the time to explore the lobby area, before and after your meal! It is a very lovely atmosphere!

“Restaurant week”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed May 28, 2013

Step off the dingy side street on the hillside through a simple spanish wood carved door to private paradise within. there is numerous gorgeous old world style courtyards and multi leveled pools and greenery, candles and varied religious statues. You will ascend to a roof top styled open air dining complete with crystal chandeliers a mid a opulent mediterranean motif aside a blue-green pool. The views are open to the west Banderas bay. We saw a brilliant sunset that turned all the hillside homes a warm glow of bronze. We could see our other favorite hillside hotel restaurant, Casa Isabella a short distance away. this terrace dinning looks down on three of the indoor sanctuaries. The dining tables are set with white table clothes and insignia china plus very elaborate silverware. the wine glasses are unique. The waiters are formally dressed to silk vests on black with white formal shirts. There is a total European form os service from napkins place on laps to placing plates from the right and removing from the left side and they use the french style of spoon/fork tong placing of butter on the butter plates. the wine list is complete with a worldly selection. the prices reflect the opulence and don't expect any deals. Restaurant week offers a three course dinner with choices for appetizer/salad, 3 entree selection and three dessert selection. Our table selected the weekly featured selections. but the regular menu had nothing lacking. Our food was so good, watercress and fennel, celery root salad, every one top notch. Our final top off was the coffee desserts, spanish coffee served in tall wine glasses with the heaviest whipped cream I have ever tasted.I would like to dine here every time I return to this Mexican Riviera. We will be back!.

“Highlight of our trip”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed May 25, 2013

We go to P.V twice a yr and try to visit Hacienda San Angel every time, needless to say we love it. We were there in Nov 2012 for brunch after Sunday Mass absolutely wonderful we practically had the whole place to ourselves just one other couple there the variety of foods was unbelievable. Was so worth going. We were just there earlier this month at the end of our trip we went on Friday for dinner and the Mariachi were there to entertain I felt like I was in heaven as soon as I walked in the door. Service was great food was great and wine great too. Looking forward to our next visit there. This place is like an Oasis from the world it is so beautiful. I would recommend this highly!!!
