Description: Archie's Wok is widely recognized as Puerto Vallarta's best Asian fusion restaurant, featuring authentic, freshly prepared cuisine that spans the Pacific Rim from Thailand to the Philippines, to China and Vietnam. The staff offers traditional and contemporary dishes from these distinctive regions. They daily prepare a palette of complex sauces and condiments. Savor the aromas of spicy chili sambals, curry pastes, their famous hoisin sauce for the ribs and chiang mai sauce, too. The menu is truly a cuisine of medleys, which combines Pacific Island foods, Asian cooking techniques, Mexico's fresh ingredients and a host of other cultural and culinary influences. Seafood is caught daily in Banderas Bay and delivered fresh to the restaurant. Locally grown ingredients include an array of vegetables, herbs and spices, including kaffir lime, galangal, lemon grass, ginger, chilies, tamarind, and coconut milk. These are native to both Asia and the Mexican Coast. Archie's Wok has been family owned and operated since 1986. The history starts in 1977 when Archie Alpenia began working as the famous Hollywood Director John Huston's private chef at his personal retreat in Banderas Bay. From then on the restaurant continues to be run by his wife Cindy, daughter Kyoki and son Sergio. His legacy continues in this comfortable restaurant. Archie's Wok is just steps away from the Los Muertos Beach Pier and is a great location to meet friends and family. The restaurant is casually elegant and their team is committed to great service, excellent food and a comfortable setting. You can enjoy lunch and dinner in this sublime atmosphere with dining room and Asian style garden.

“Great Asian Food”
Reviewed December 7, 2011

If you're looking for an alternative to Mexican food and decide to go Asian, try Archie's. Some resort friends recommended it to us and I'm glad we took their suggestion. Everything was very fresh and delicious. We started with a chicken satay and eggrolls. For dinner Catch of the Day and Cashew Chicken. We loved the passion fruit margaritas with chili salt! The restaurant has a nice atmosphere and live music. It appeared to be a place where "local" Americans went to dine. Good find.

“After John Huston”
Reviewed November 29, 2011

John Huston's chef stayed on to open his own restaurant at Los Muertos beach. Still family owned and still delicious. A bit of Thai and a bit of Asian. Delicate flavors. Frequently accompanied by gentle music. Very historic Puerto Vallarta.

“Great food and atmosphere”
Reviewed November 8, 2011

Four of us had dinner at Archie's Wok last night and thoroughly enjoyed it. The place was very busy, but the staff's attention to detail never faltered. Loved the music, the atmosphere and especially the food. I had not been here in about five years, and I have to say the quality has not gone downhill like so many others of my old favorites.

“A Very Special Asian Fusion Restaurant”
Reviewed October 31, 2011

Archie's Wok is an institution here in Puerto Vallarta. Archie, legend has it, was the cook for John Huston when he came here to make the movie "The Night Of the Iguana" in the early 1960's. Archie stayed and opened up Archie's Wok. Archie has passed on, but his daughter has improved and developed Archie's Wok into one of the most pleasant places to dine here in Puerto Vallarta. The food is excellent with a great menu for carnivores and vegetarians alike. Recommendations: Chinese Sesame Cucumbers, Asian Gazpacho with Cilantro cream, Spicy Fried Noodles Thai Style (Pad Thai), Pancit (a Filipino stir fry with noodles, veggies and choice of meat, Chang Mai Fish!!! (Wonderful), Cambodian Beef Curry, Lasanga style Vegetables and Tofu (a wonderful vegetarian dish).
