Owner description: Whether it´s watching the amazing humpback whales, swimming with dolphins in the wild, kayaking among mangroves, helping baby sea turtles get to sea for the first time, or discovering ancient petroglyphs while hiking on a natural protected area, our adventures will fill you up with life changing experiences, long lasting memories and the satisfaction of giving back while taking part on genuine research and conservation initiatives throughout this important ecoregion. Our expeditions combine wildlife research, education and community development with sustainable tourism activities, promoting awareness about the value and threats to biodiversity, and generating direct benefits for the conservation and management of wildlife species and its habitat. WHY IS ONCA DIFFERENT? Apart from being a tourist operator, our company supports important research and conservation initiatives throughout the region by acting like a permanent platform for scientific research and monitoring of marine megafauna, particularly cetaceans -whales and dolphins-, sea turtles, sea birds, mantas and sharks. We also collaborate with local authorities for the attention of marine mammal strandings and great whale entanglement rescue, environmental awereness campaigns and education for conservation workshops at local schools and rural communities. We work tightly with the people and communities that own access to significant natural areas, helping them build and strength their capacities for the development and implementation of sustainable tourism products from which they can get direct benefits as an alternative to traditional economic activities (e.g. artisanal fisheries, agriculture, acuaculture, logging, etc.), improving their livelihoods and protecting their resources while inspiring a genuine sense of ownership for their natural heritage.

We didn't see any whales, so that was somewhat disapointing. It was still pretty interesting as we saw a seal eating a fish, and some rocks with a lot of sea birds. I think it makes a difference as to who your guide is. Our guide was not very talkative, even though she was knowledgable and answered questions when we asked. I know it wasn't her fault we didn't see whales, but more information would have been nice.

We had the most wondeful day possible. We saw the biggest pod of bottle neck dolphins that the guide had seen in a long long time. Most pods have 6 to 10 dolphins but for some reason, they were in this super pod formation and there were about 100 in this pod. They swam along side the boat with us. AMAZING!! THEN....we saw 2 sets of mother and child humpback whales. And to finish off the day, we saw a large male humpback. We put in an underwater mic and heard the whales clicking and singing!! Like I said....wonderful!! WOW!!

Our experience was life altering. Being in a bottle-nose dolphins and viewing two humpback whale Cows with their calves, and a bull humpback was amazing! ONCA knows its it's business: well organised, knowledgable, and articulate in Engish and Spanish!
I strongly reccomend this experience!

We recently went whale watching on our trip to Mazatlan in Feb, and boy was it worth the $87 we paid (make note the cab ride BACK to your hotel is NOT included)!!
Our awesome captain Oscar, was great at locating and following the whales, and our tour guide (Sella?) she was very knowledgeable as well. We were on the water for 4hrs, we saw the whales breach, and come out of the water, great pics and something to remember for a lifetime, we learned lots and had a great show. We then saw the rocks where the birds migrate, which are beautiful, and went to see where the sea lions are, but they were not out that day.

Keep up the great work ONCA!

The trip was phenomenal! For the price, we got our value: we saw 3 humpback whales, a school of dolphins, and one lone sea lion. The humpback whales were most exciting, as they performed all of the characteristic actions (e.g. Fluke slapping, breaching, etc). However, what we saw was unusual for a whale watching trip. Our guide was very knowledgeable and gave us a great pre-brief as to what to expect. All in all a great time!
