My wife and I attended a timeshare presentation there and apparently the folks at Playa Maria decided for us that we wanted to purchase a timeshare because when we got home we found a charge for nearly $5000.00 that we did not make nor authorize. BE CAREFUL.

If you like the busy, crowded beaches, this is NOT the place for you as it is about 2 miles away from the Golden Zone (where all the action happens). If you want to relax and have your private beach, this is the place to stay. I stayed in what I call the best room of the resort. The room had two balconies, one off the living room and the other off the bedroom. There's nothing better than the sound of the waves when you wake up in the morning! Not to mention the spectacular sunsets. It was beautiful.

We are owners at the Playa. We purchased in 2003 and then upgraded in 2004. We owned at the Marina Del Rey at one time and then traded into the Playa. We purchased at the Marina and at the Playa from the same salesperson, Tony. It has almost become a tradition. The Playa is a small comfortable 30 unit Resort. It is located in the Marina area north of the Gold Zone. All the buses come by the Resort everyday and are easy to catch. You can get anywhere you want to from this location. The Playa is a short beach walk to the Marina El Cid, where we went to watch the Iquanas in the rocks. The beach is clean and quiet, with very few vendors. About 1 mile north is Cerritos Beach. There is a small restaurant on cite, which serves breakfast, lunch and dinner. Although the Chef, Jeronimo is a very nice person, we found the food to be a little on the spendy side. We usually eat in our unit, which has a full kitchen with great storage, and a 3/4 refrigerator with plenty of room. The nice thing about the Playa is the Studio also has a full kithchen. The only difference is it is a little smaller and has two burners instead of four. The rooms in buildings 1,2 and 3 have ocean views. There are tv's in the living room and bedroom. The pool is small but you never have trouble getting in to swim. I swam every morning and rarely had to compete for space. The bar is only open from noon to six but happy hour is each day from 4 to 6. The bartender is Henaro del Toro (real name). He is a friend of Jeronimos. The maid service is excellent and your room is cleaned daily, with fresh towells whenever you need them. There is not a concierge, as such but Sam, who works the front desk is very helpful.

We usually go each year for two weeks at a time and will soon be going for four weeks each year.

It's a nice place to go, where you can relax and be away from the hustle and bustle, but the bus system can get you wherever you want to go.

We own a substantial amount of time there and are always willing to rent it out if anyone is interested.

Gratias y tenga una buena dia Amigos

My friend and I just got back from Mazatlan yesterday. We did not stay at Playa Maria, however we visited the resort and liked it so much that we purchased a time share there! The resort is small in comparison to some of the others we have stayed at, but the atmosphere is way more relaxed and more quiet than some of the resorts in the Golden Zone. We will be back next year-and we already can't wait.

we spent 2 wonderful weeks there in feb of 2004. it is a small, but beautiful resort of 30 rooms/ apts. we got to know all the people that work there and felt that we were very welcolme. I would call it excellent, but I am afraid that we might have trouble getting reservations for next year. so I will say very much above average. The pool was never to crowded and the drinks were plentyful. The food was way above average. When you compare a large resort to this ----well there is no comparsion. it was quiet, beautiful, and many friend were made. but that's all i am going to say......Ssshhhhh!!!
