There is lots of local flavor, locals walking their dogs, jogging, rollerblading. Beautiful views esp sunset. Safe.

Take the time to walk in this area...so beautiful. Get some one to take you up the hill to get some fabulous pictures.

A long walking, jogging path. Boring in my opion. Not really pretty on the side opposite the ocean. I like the Malecon better in Puerto Vallarta.

The historical sculptures are a thing of beauty. We took the City Tour and learned about them. We got a wonderful picture of the Cliff Diver. This year a cab driver, a Mazatlan native, told us all about the history of Mazatlan and the significance of the Malecon.

We hadn't been to Mazatlan in many years, and sure didn't expect the crowded Malecon, the limited views of the beach because of all the tacky businesses, and the heavy police presence. In fact, it was a little scary, and we know the area quite well, having traveled there many times through the years. The traffic at night is bumper-to-bumper, and to drive the length of the beach took almost an hour. The police cruise looking for drunks to arrest, while the bars blare techno music and advertise drinks specials. No, thanks.
