“Not much there but a nice day adventure”
Reviewed December 30, 2011

There really is not much here but the beach is nice and it is usually calm waters. Mazatlan is not known for snorkeling but there are fish to see. If you want to snorkel you need to go to Cancun or the Caribbean.

“Not well organized”
Reviewed November 20, 2011

We had a driver take us from our hotel to the Marina for departure, who drove like a nutcase and asked us for tips, without telling us where we had to go once he kicked us out his van, or even saying anything to us on the three-minute ride there. We had to learn on our own that the El Cid offers a shuttle, which is how we got back to our hotel.

Once on the island, we were welcome to snorkel or kayak, but their was no instruction offered for those who didn't know how. The water was too shallow and cloudy to see anything the day we were there for snorkeling, but the kayak was fun.

The crew was amazing, they made the boat ride more enjoyable. The best thing about the day, though, was being able to enjoy the beach with no vendors bothering you every couple minutes.

“Deer Island is a must see”
Reviewed September 7, 2011

The resort that we were staying at was red and white flaged for high waves and jelly fish. So we were unable to swim in the ocean so we booked the day to go to Deer Island and it was great! First we took the boat around the bay with the drinks coming and the tunes pumping. We were able to see things like the light house and other Islands. When we arrived we were all told to get out and swim to shore! What ???? Well our driver had a sense of humor! Not Funny LOL. There was a small boat that we could take or we could take the swim. The water was amazing so warm and calm and lots of little fish swimming about. There was lots to do there like swim, banana boat, and even rent ($) a ski doo for a bit. We bought a fresh mango that was to die for and they also had coconuts for purchace. For lunch we had smoked fish tocos and they were really good as well as there was lots to go around.
The only issue that I had was even though I reapplied sunscreen I was burnt the worst I have ever been in my life. The sun there is hotter then hot! I would say that this is a great trip if you want to play in the water and just relax.

“Lots of fun and relaxation”
Reviewed August 1, 2011

It starts out from the El Cid Marina on a trimaran at 9:30 am, and we got back to the marina at about 4pm. We cruised around the bay in Mazatlan. Life jackets for everyone (safety first). All the drinks you wanted during the cruise and on Deer Island when we got there too. They also served us a mexican lunch. While on Deer Island, you had your choice of swimming in the ocean, kayaking, riding a banana boat, riding a sea-doo, snorkelling, or scuba diving. Before we got to Deer Island for the water activities, we were supposed to go and watch some cliff divers, but that part got cancelled because of the high waves on the rocks just below where the divers dive from. All in all it was a great tour and a really fun and relaxing time, all for $50. We met some very nice people from Mexico, the USA, and some fellow Canadians. Would definitely go again.
