“Fabulous, Fun & Friendly”

Let's skip to the end:

Resort: Big; clean; quiet adult pool with swim up bar; pool for the kids with food and games and another swim up bar. Rooms are nice not great and kitchen is a partial, no mistaking that. Breakfast and lunch a breeze, dinner a bit of a challege. Resort is expensive. If part of your motivation is to save money for fun stuff, you can dine off site and save some bucks. Each dinner at the resort ran us over $100 for two. Everyday there are happy hours 2 for 1 specials. However, the price for the first one is HIGH.

The Spa is beautiful and gym is GREAT! The Spa will cost ya but the gym is free.

There is only dial up internet in certain buildings. We were in building 18, room 1842. FABULOUS ocean view and at end of the resort. Carts can be called and pick you up if you don't want to walk. We walked everywhere.

If you want to take the tour/presentation, there is NO pressure. RCI members get $100 (because "we can come anytime through quick escapes, exchanges they said). All others $200. You get a credit voucher that you present at CHECK OUT and a credit on your bill. It was that easy. Ask for Gustavo to be your presenter - F A B U L O U S, knowledgeable and funny. We wanted to be in and out in 90 minutes and he stayed true. We then hung out with him for a couple more hours for fun.

Shopping -- We did see people walk to but we drove there in 5 minutes-- The closest strip mall. No not strippers! A strip of a mall with great souvineir prices and an American coffee shop with great food and yes, coffees! Why do I say "American", because that is where Thomas and Heidi are from. They also offer their phone to call back to the States for F R E E. Just ask for the phone, dial the area code and number and talk away while enjoying your coffee.

Kelly's bike shop. Yep, rent quality road and moutain bikes with all the gear for cheap and even go on a ride with the owner.

Kelly's Massages - don't go. Have a coffee at Thomas' and then have a massage next door. $20 per hour.

there are a lot of flaws to this relatively expensive hotel. for example, random charges show up on your bill. check your bill closely. when an erroneous charge showed up on my bill for some company in mazatlan, they told me that the company charged their bill to my room and the company was closed that day so they couldnt ask the company about it so i should just pay the charge even though i never authorized the charge in the first place. that seems like very poor customer service to just assume that i should pay for their mistake.
they also throw on daily donations to some charity onto everyone's bill automatically. to find out what the charity actually is is a challenge. they seem confused when you ask about the charity. i'm all for donations to charities...so long as that charity is not the pueblo bonito profit charity, and it seems a lot less credible when you try to sneak the charge on everyone's bills as they are checking out. so far as i have heard, it appears credible, but i would love more info on the place first.
i was kind of bummed by the beach. it is sandy right until you get to the water line, when it turns to coral. sounds great, right? except that it is too shallow to snorkel over the coral and the coral is in the way for just wading/body surfing in the water. definitely a beach more built for lying next to and not actually enjoying the water there.
the rooms are basic and clean. the place is HUGE and they advise you to call for a golf cart to cart you around from one end to the other if you want to go anywhere. i felt it was definitely walkable, but might be difficult for those with mobility problems.
they have a shuttle between the two pueblo bonito hotels, but realize that it only runs once an hour during certain hours of the day and the taxis can add up quickly for how far out of downtown they are if you decide to find your own transportation.

i won't be telling friends to check this hotel out anytime soon.

we went to pb based on the great reviews and were not let down. The resort was a paradise. We did the timeshare presentation and it was the lowest pressure one we have ever had. The free shuttle was great. Take the sabado centro bus from there and visit the market the locals go to. I took my wife for her birthday and she keep telling me what a great job I did booking this vacation. The only small drawback was there was only 1 place to get wireless internet, which turned out fine. Kept the vacation more of a vacation.

My husband and I visited Maztlan at the last minute in April and decided to stay at the Pueblo Bonito Mazatlan in the Golden Zone. However, we did the timeshare presentation at Emerald Bay, and WOW, this is a gorgeous resort. I would definitely recommend staying here. The nice thing is that the two hotels have a shuttle that goes back and forth between them and you can use the facilities at either property or get into town if you want to. We ended up using the facilities at Emerald Bay for most of our stay because it was too crowded and loud at the property in town. Emerald Bay has 3 fantastic pools, one with a swim up bar, one adults only if you want to get away from it all and a third pool near a bistro. With the timeshare presentation we got $200 in food and beverage credit, along with a city tour, so we ate a lot at both hotels. Both hotel's food was good, and reasonable for this type of resort, but I especially liked the lunches poolside at Emerald Bay. The woodburning pizza is great, as was the shrimp ceviche, coconut shrimp and the pina coladas! The staff always have a smile and really work to make your every wish happen and they should be commended. The grounds are landscaped beautifully and everything, even the poolside bathroom, is spotless. There seemed to be a lot of activities like water aerobics, salsa dancing lessons, pottery making, bracelet weaving, etc. during the day at the pool. Most of the people seemed to be timeshare owners there and of an upper class of people. The beach is empty and nice, but a bit rough for swimming and rocky. The resort is about 10 minutes away from the Golden Zone but the shuttle gets you there for free and you can go to 'old Mazatlan' by cab cheaply from there. Otherwise, I can't think of one bad thing about this resort. I'd stay there anytime!

I'm not one to write on sites like this but I had to about this resort. It was perfection at it's best! From day one of our 7 nights vacations it was great. This resort is extremely well maintained and very very clean. The atmosphere was wonderful and the swimming pools to include the beach line was a small slice of heaven. Our king size master suite was superior to any resort I have ever stayed in to include the Mayan Palace. The fitness center, the spa, and the restaurants were all great. Great service, great time, great vacation. We travel every other year on vacation...Cozumel, Paris, London, Jamaica, Puerto Vallarta, and the Bahamas... This was by far the best resort! My wife and I are booking a vacation to Los Cabos and guest where we are staying...yes, Pueblo Bonita...after you stay there...you will never settle for anything less!
