I loved the peace and quiet of relaxing and strolling down the beach. However, I didn't like the 60's look of the room. Rooms need to be remodeled. The beach needs to be cleaned up. There was so much trash/debris on the beach. Enjoyed the shuttle rides to the town. Met good people and would love to visit again soon.

We arrived at Pueblo Bonito after roughing it in Mexico City. We stayed for 6 days. It was nice to be pampered and cared for in a very 1st world American style but we did miss some of the authentic Mexican experience while here- although it was relaxing and nice not to worry about a thing. The beach is private so we took a 3 hour walk on a private coast which was amazing. The all inclusive meal plans which are not required (but it's kind of hard to always have to leave the resort to eat so you are better off buying the all-inclusive meal plans) are great- you can eat, drink any time of day not to mention there are bars in the pool and you can use the plan at Pueblo Bonito Mazatlan which is a free 15 minute shuttle away. The pools are nice but crowded during the day. The main pool was hard to find empty lounge chairs. After 6 PM the pools and hot tubs virtually emptied out. Which was fine since it was still warm out. we would use the hot tub after 8pm and it was always empty, with the exception of maybe one night. Pueblo Bonito is a timeshare so they will try to get you to buy the timeshare but in exchange for listening to the sales pitch you get some pretty good discounts. As RCI owners we cannot return to this resort for four years, so we do hope some of the other resorts are as comparable since we did like it. We got a free city tour which we were a little disappointed in. The tour guide made fun of her own people which we thought was a bit tacky. The first hour of the tour was spent driving through the gold zone which is mostly Americans who settle in Mazatlan so it is very American as opposed to Mexican. We were not interested in that. We wanted a cultural experience. We ended up getting off the bus and creating our own walking tour of Mazatlan. Some of the downsides of Pueblo Bonito are the lack of cultural experience but you get to trade that in for a very nice relaxing worry free time.

We are owners at Sunset Beach in Cabo San Lucas but this year we could not get a room for the week we wanted so we went to Mazatlan. Pueblo Bonito has always been great for us, this is our 5th trip. The service was great with a few who really stood out. Richardo at the adult pool was amazing, Adriana at La Cordiare who makes the best omelets and works harder than anyone else with a huge smile on her face, and Javier the bell man who helped us get our luggage to our room and back to the lobby. Thank You!!!!!

We are owners and stayed in Master Suite #1012. The view from this suite is, in our opinion, the best in the entire resort based on our 4 years of staying in various suites at Emerald Bay. It is located in the building next to the main building which houses Kelly's Bar. There is a limited dining menu at Kelly's Bar which we previously did not know about but would highly recommend especially the seafood dinner for two. The rooms and grounds are very well maintained.

They have an all-inclusive option which we choose not to pay for because of all the great dining locations located in throughout Mazatlan. However, during our 1 week stay, we did observe that the quality of the dining and the mixed drinks had slipped some at the resort which we believe is due to them trying to manage their all-inclusive program.

A very good seaside resort, but there are lots of extra charges for minor things. There is no reason to do the all inclusive, there are lots of good restaurants within walking distance or a short taxi ride away.

Back to PB Emerald Bay… Placed in a room with very crappy maintenance work! I literally have seen the same type of work done at Motel 6 and other type motels/hotels. Very disappointing as an owner, maintenance fees do NOT seem to be going where they need to be. The grounds of Emerald Bay are very nice. The beautiful shrubs, trees, and animals around the resort can take up a lot of your time during the evenings while out on a walk. The pool bars are convenient, but that’s about it. Broken tiles, missing tiles, and bad maintenance work to try and keep them “up to par”. As stated before the maintenance at Emerald Bay is going downhill.
To me, the food is excellent and always has been. All inclusive is the only way to go! Four of us had it this past time; between us we spent $1,600.00 for 7 days. Our final bill for food and drinks was around $4,500 +/-. We saved almost $3,000.00 and yes we ate and ate and ate. Great food makes it easy. Plus, who doesn’t like to drink from the great selection of beverages.
I have read about the towel reserve problems at the pool areas. People going down at 5:00AM to reserve pool chairs, I was able to see this first hand. To my surprise the security staff removed 100d’s of towels from the chairs allowing people to use them. Really made me laugh to see the people that tried to save them and come down 2-6 hours later trying to figure out what happened. Yes, they would try to reserve them and NOT use them for up to 6 hours. This just created lots of arguments with the people that were in their “reserved” chairs. It’s an easy rule that is distributed to everyone. Grownups just were not able to follow the rules I guess.
Staff service is usually very good. There are times when the service could be faster or seems slow.
Shuttle service is easy to work with going to and from Old Mazatlan Pueblo Bonito. It goes every ½ hour. I don’t think we ever waited longer than 10 minutes for a shuttle. It is pretty easy to make a reservation for the shuttle at the front desk. People that say that it’s difficult to plan around the shuttle must have some organization problems. First come first serve? So what? Went to old Mazatlan 3 times and not once was there a problem getting on the shuttle. It runs until 11:00 PM not sure what else they would want.
Our room always seemed to be warm even with the AC going full. Didn't care during the day, but sure made it difficult to spleep.
All in all another good experience. I hope there is not any further deterioration of the property when we arrive in another year or two.

Room Tip: Try to stay in the rooms away from the main pool area. If you do not have any physical limitations m...

This is our second visit to Emerald Bay. It has been the best vacation we have ever taken. Everything you could want is provided. The guests tend to be on the older, affluent side. Not the place to go if you have young children and are on a budget. Try your best to skip the annoying time share ladies at the entrance when you arrive. Our 1st visit they gave us 10% off our bill if we took the timeshare tour. Definitely not worth it. This time, they offered $200. Still not worth it. It takes a good part of your first full day on vacation.

Room Tip: The all you can eat breakfast is a good way to start the day.
