Excellent staff, very helpful & English well spoken. Gaby at the reception desk is so happy. Around pool area look for Francisco Renterio & Aaron Kelly, Gilberto & Robardo Binitez in La Pergola restaurant. For aquatics I recommend Raul Hernandez, Fernando Munoz & Marco Ocampo who cheerfully led mostly women (the odd man) every day at noon in a wonderful workout. It's nice to offer tips to everyone each day - they love Valentine's Day & to hand out small hearts makes you feel good & they are so appreciative. Take Canadian flag pins, pencils, etc. & you will get a smile daily. We were treated nicely by everyone & the entire staff does a fabulous job to make sure your stay will be always remembered in a positive light.

We arrived February 7th for our daughters wedding. The wedding was beautiful and tastefully decorated.at the El Mora. With the ocean for a background it was breath taking. We received the very best service when we arrived. It was our first time to Mexico and were very pleased. The hotel went out of their way to accomodate us. They upgraded our sons room to be close to the wedding party. We received fruit baskets, and wine in our rooms and swans made of towels for decoration. The service was the best we have had anywhere. At the pool we received the best attention from Ricardo, Adrian, Tomas, Sylvistre, and Antonio to name a few. They were very attentive and aware of our every need. The maids cleaned our rooms promptly. We had a great time. Thank you

Once again a wonderful trip and stay at El Cid Castilla Beach. We look forward to next year when we can once again see all of the wonderful Friends that we have made at this resort! Hats off again to the wonderful staff, I miss seeing Adrian everyday with his wonderful smile and greeting, he worked very hard at the pool and beach areas to make our stay of 20 people the most pleasant. I highly recommend El Cid Castilla Beach. The food was always good with many choices, and as I said above, the staff is wonderful!

We just got back last night from El Cid. We travelled there with a group of 16 - 4 of which were under 6 years old. The hotel room itself was average..we had requested a King at the time of booking and were given 2 Full beds which we were unable to sleep together in. The Lobby staff couldn't have cared less about the situation and were less than helpful.(The Bald Guy needs an attitude adjustment!) That aside, the food was better than we expected and the wait and bar staff were FANTASTIC. The pools were great and there was an abundance of chairs to sit in. The beach vendors were over-powering but if you went down towards the El Moro side they did not bother you. The specialty restaurants were a little confusing to get reservations at but they were worth the hassle. They did a good job with the nightly shows as well. We did a massage which was unbelievably awesome and I would recommend it. The $600 coupon book was absolutely useless as we were unable to use anything in it.
The hotel location is good as it is easy to walk to shops and stores. We had no concerns about safety.
If you are going here you should expect to tip for almost everything you need. We were prepared for that so it wasn't a surprise.
In the buffet Roberto and Ivan are two great people to have a waiters. If you are staying in the tower and have small children, be aware the the 14th floor has NO safety railing on the outside walk way that would stop a small child from going thru. My son and daughter-in-law moved down to the 5th floor because of this. They had a 3 and 5 year old and it was too dangerous on the 14th floor.
When we take out the bed and front desk staff situation, and just look at the food, resort amenities, wait/bar staff, all in all it was worth the price we paid for the vacation.

Hotel room and hotel facilities were quite clean and well maintained. We had a very nice view of the ocean and from our balcony (we upgraded to an ocean view room). Be careful after you check in as you will be directed to someone who appears to be a staff member for more "information" - they are time share promoters. These folks are in the same hotel staff uniforms and work from desks across the lobby from the check in counter. We made the mistake sitting down with one of them and telling them which room number we were staying in. That was admittedly dumb on our part - we just assumed we were speaking with a bona fide hotel employee. After a couple of minutes we realized it was a time share pitch so we politely declined and continued up to our room to unpack and start our vacation. Unfortunately, the salesperson had some difficulty accepting "no, thank you" for an answer and called our room each day of our 7 day stay to invite us to their time share presentation (we politely declined each time) and also had written invitations to the time share presentation put in our room while we were out. We left feeling that the in house time share pitches at El Cid were very unprofessional and inappropriate. We would definately stay somewhere else next time.

Firstly We are seasoned travelers. this is our 9th trip to Mexico so we have seen a few good hotels. The El Cid Castilla has a lot of pros and cons'

Pros-1. the hotel is spotless contant cleaning everywhere all the time.
2. Staff are excellent- from the bellmen to the poolboy everyone is out to make your stay a great one.
3. Location- need I say more- right in the middle of the gold zone, on the beach,
walking distance to many great restaurants and a short taxi rides to others.

Sadly Cons.
1. The food was adaquate- warm at best, mostly cool or even cold. Very reptitious
in 14 night we had 5 mexican buffet nights. The breakfast were the meal of the day.
snack by the pool were just that snacks.
2. The El Cid "time share" people in the main lobby dicsquised as infomation booths was not a bit to my liking. Sad really.
3. Beds- like concrete with sheets- not comfortable at all!
Atmosphere-- what atmosphere it did not exist .
sorry but I CAN NOT RECOMMEND THIS HOTEL and would not stay here again.
