I've stayed here four times on our trips back to the US. It's one of the better places I've stay in. If you like golf they have a very nice course and the pools and beach are great too. It's out of town and close to the airport. They don't have any night life so if you're looking for that you should go to the golden zone.

Room Tip: just ask for the room that fits your needs

My husband and I loved the fact that we had literally had the resort to ourselves. We swam in the infinity pool, and a club golf cart transported us to the clubhouse for a fabulous dinner under a palaypa. The ocean view rooms are spacious and you can drink the water from the tap...USA standards applied. Granite kitchen tops and elegant throughout. PGA championship course...and a turtle sanctuary on site. Just five minutes from the airport. Rent a cab and feel the excitement of the longest, busiest, people filled malecon in Mexico. Rent a bike and cruise the malecon, then return to the Estrella to relax in luxury.

Room Tip: This resort is for those who enjoy QUIET retreats

One of the worst experiences I've ever had. Hotel looked like ghost town, service was terrible, our room flooded 2 times during a 5 day stay. Only 1 restaurant with the same food every day, amenities like pool & sauna are like a house, also gym is falling apart ( outdated, covered with rust no a/c.
You can't swim on the beach since is covered by rocks. There is nothing close to the hotel the city is around 30-40 min drive.
Save your money and go some place else.

Room Tip: Golf Course

We had the opportunity to stay one night complements of American Airlines due to a bump to next day flying out. The resort is beautiful and very elegant. The staff is very helpful and friendly. We had a room on the first floor and it had a very nice secluded patio area with ocean view. Disappointed that there is no screen door so we could not sleep with the door open and hear the ocean like we usually do at the Inn. Seems like we were the only ones staying at the hotel. We only saw one other couple at the bar in the hotel after we had dinner at the golf club house. There we also saw one couple they may have been staying in a villa or condo. During the day, there was not another soul at the pool and no one walking on the beach when i went for a walk. Nice for a day but after that we'd go crazy! We love the activity on the wall at the Inn!
Room was very nice and bed very comfortable. Great nights sleep, would be better with the door open and a screen door!
We are a bit disappointed in that we left a sweater (an expensive and sentimental favorite of my husbands) and i immediately emailed them asking if they could check with house keeping to see if it was found. I would expect from a hotel that considers themself as high quality as Estrella del Mar does, at the very least a reply email. We have emailed a total of 3 times and will be emailing again and not even a response saying we have checked but cannot find it.
Food service was excellent and food was good, but a bit over priced. Bartender in the hotel was very good.

I had the pleasure of staying at The Estrella Del Mar for three days two nights. This resort offers everything you would expect. Large rooms. Along with state of the art showers Jacuzzi tub. Pools? Infinity pool overlooking the Pacific Ocean was relaxing. A shuttle to downtown Mazatlan for all of your shopping need. Downtown offers designer everything. Also art district with cafes tucked along the cobble stone streets. Estrella served breakfast, lunch and dinner.

Room Tip: third floor view is beautiful.
