“Costa de Oro a real Mazatlan gem!”
Reviewed March 16, 2005

Our family stayed at the Costa de Oro for two weeks this past Xmas holiday season. We have travelled extensively throughout Mexico, from Cabo San Lucas, Manzanillo, Ixtapa, Cancun, Puerto Vallart and Playa del Carmen (we have some 1st hand experiences). I will unequivocably say that for overall experience, the Costa de Oro ranks right near the top. We travlled with my mother (age 70+), who is quite particular, my wife and myself (ages 50+) and our three teenage sons, 19, 17 & 15. Across the board, we had a fantastic time; mostly because of the service. When we checked in, they had "mother" staying with us in our 1 bd suite. When she requested her own room, they promptly gave her a beautiful lower level room (no stairs) with a lovely balcony overlooking a calming tropical stream, with beautiful landscaping and flowers. Our 1 bd room suite, easily accomodated my wife, myself and our 15 yr old in the living room area. We could close off the doors for privacy, but never felt the need because the rooms are so big. With a complete kitchen, we could bring in breakfast, snack foods and store beer, soft drinks and water for convenience. The maids did a wonderful job making us feel comfortable. The bartenders at the bar were very friendly and the waiters would not let us put down a drink before asking for another. One small glitch was the beach lounges - if you didn't get down before 7 am and stake your claim, you were out of luck until late afternoon. No problem really though because the beach is steps away. Another nice thing is the beach is separated by a 12 foot stone wall which makes it nice if you don't want to be bothered by the peddlers who sell everything from blankets to silver jewelry. Food was excellent, with breakfast buffet stocked with plenty of types of food for all. We caught 60 fish bottom fishing one morning, had a couple cleaned and brought back to the hotel where they prepared a special fish dinner for no more expense other than the rice, vegetables and drinks (which came to about 3 bucks a person). I could go on and on, but you get the idea. A great great hotel, beautiful grounds, convenient to all beach areas and an easy bus or taxi to historic downtown or the malecon. Book it, you won't regret it. Happy travellers from Colorado.

I want to say some good things about the staff and especially the maid. During our stay the maid kept our room clean and got us anything we needed. I feel the staff (especialy the housekeeping) get very little recognitin for the things they do. Thank you again for all the hard work you do.

We stayed at Costa De Ore from 2-11-05 until 2-18-05 we had a wonderful trip. Nice hotel and great staff. Our room was clean, The bed was hard but if you fold up the bed spread and sleep on it, its not to bad. Our maid Erica was great she dose a great job the room was clean. Lucy in the bar is wonderful she kept the 2 for ones coming. We found a great hamburger place Named Marys they have food as we know it!!!! We had good seafood and we even went to Walmart (superwalmart) on a day that it was rainy. We would go back there again.
