We were there for Christmas last year 2011. We found a great deal on the internet. We didn´t stay around the resort much as we went exploring. But the staff was very helpful. The room had a good view of the pool and ocean. We rented a motor bike for a few days from a place in the golden zone and rode out to the small towns in the jungle and dessert. Definitely we will go back.

Room Tip: Ocean view

Just spent 4 weeks at Oceano Palace and had a great time. The rooms were clean and comfy. Had great maid service every day with clean towels and sheets each day. Our patio door opened on to a super ocean view. The staff were all very friendly and helpful especially the front desk and bellboys. LOcation of hotel was great for shopping, dining and bus service. We would certainly go back to this hotel.

Room Tip: ocean view would be my choice

This was our second stay and it was a repeat of the first. We checked in, lady was very polite, when to the room and it had not been cleaned. When back down, she gave us another room. The AC sounded like a jet taking off. The room did not smell very good did not look clean. My wife found hiar balls on the floor. This is the same problem as last year. We will take it off of the places to stay.

Enjoyed our time there very much and the staff were both friendly and helpful. We dealt a lot with Alejandro Aquirre on the desk and he is very good at his job.He was able to help with any problems and handle things quickly. The only thing that we had a problem with was the loud music. It would have been nicer to have it turned down in the pool area.It was always off at ten so no problems sleeping!

Room Tip: Ask for a fridge. We got one same day we asked for it.

We stayed at the Oceano Palace through SellOffVacations.com in January of this year. The hotel had us in a double room with a kitchen. Here are the good parts of staying at the Oceano Palace, they were very friendly and checking in to the room was easy with no issues. They were happy to upgrade our room to an Ocean view and it was great going to sleep at night with the sounds of the waves. The pool was good as well, which was excellent as you really couldn't swim in the Ocean.

The not so good parts --- the rooms lacked for a single solitary couch which made sitting around a bit of a challenge. The beds were possibly the most uncomfortable beds that I have ever attempted to sleep on, so I would recommend bringing your own pillows/foamy. The food at the hotel was terrible, my advice would be to go down the beach to Tony's, Loco-loco or Chili Pepper's, all of them make a much better breakfast cheaper. On Saturday nights the club next door blasts out dance music from midnight to 2-3am so you may want to invest in some earphones as well (although it won't help with the vibrations), or simply plan to be up all night long. The wifi in the hotel in the rooms sucked huge, there was literally one place that you could stand to get any reception at all. Oh and if you are planning on cooking in your room, make sure you leave plenty of time, because the units take forever to heat up.

There is also a tour guy named Tony, he can be quite pushy but no more so than most of the local vendors who in all fairness are desperate for business.

In short for the cost it was an OK experience but I don't think we would go again.
