These young men are amazing...what courage they have to dive off headfirst into some dark rocks. While enjoying a leisurely walk down the Malecon, find this place and watch these guys! They are trying to eek out a living by doing something incredibly dangerous... please don't forget to tip generously, it's worth every pesos you spend! Enjoy and watch closely, they go pretty fast!

It's a great spot off the malecon, lots of open space with a tower, which a man will collect you donations and then dive off of into the sea. We watched it at night during a street fair, which was cool because he held flaming torches as he dived so you could see, but at the bottom it looks like just a bunch of dark rocks from your vantage point. A brief but exciting spectacle.

My husband and I got married here in March 2013. The permit office says we were the first couple EVER to do so! I chose it because we have so many great memories here. It's beautiful at any time of the day, cliff divers or not. Also, a lot of people want to get married on the beach but, I hate that sand gets into everything so, this was the closest I was willing to get and it was perfect. This is definitely one of my favorite places in Mazatlan.

Watching cliff divers is Mazatlán is a must-do thing when you are in this friendly beach town. Take your time to observe several dives and where they dive into and you will understand how courageous and skillful these divers are. It actually requires a lot of skills and not any world champion divers could do it like they could in Acapulco. There are pointy rocks everywhere under the water they jump into and you have to catch the right waves to get back to the shore. Very inspiring and very impressive. I enjoyed every single dive during the few days I was there. The divers share their tips. Please tip generously. They are like one big family. Miss you all, the divers of Mazatlán. I will be back!

Punta de Clavadistas (Diver's Point) is about a 15 minute ride from the center of town. It is a part of many tour stops. Bus loads come and go all day long. If you are not on a tour every bus driver knows where the young cliff divers jump. Souvenir merchants of all kinds hang out waiting for tourists. Food and beverages, usually snacks are also available. Your in Mexico so only drink bottled or canned beverages. There are one or two boys that circulate the crowd asking for tips. You can give a lot, give a little or not give at all. Once enough has been collected, the diver is signaled and there is a jump. Keep your camera ready, it happens quickly. Enjoy the picture.
