“Our 2014 vacation”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed May 8, 2014

We love Pueblo Bonito in Mazatlan and have been owners here for 20 yrs. The resort is 30 years old and showing its age, but is in great shape. The beach is magnificent and the staff is very friendly and helpful. The entertainment crew has improved over the years and works hard to keep you entertained. The activities are fun and they try hard to encourage participation. Cindy and Samuel we have got to know the best over the last several years and we like them a lot. The food and beverages have become very expensive with $15 being the average price for even a salad. The sad part is that our contract as owners will expire in 3 more years and that will make us sad. The hotel encourages you to go to a "welcome breakfast" at Emerald Bay and that turns into a very high pressure sales pitch.

Room Tip: We like the view from the second and third floors. The sunsets here are amazing.

We have been coming to PB Mzt for 28 years. This is our favorite vacation of the year. We always look forward to coming back to Pueble Bonito each year and have recommended it to all of our friends. We hope it will be available to us for many years to come. The entire staff is so accomodating and friendly, especially the activities staff and the front desk. Samuel and Cindy at the activities department are especially "special".

We love everything about this resort! The staff is extremely friendly and kind. They treat you like family. From the waiters to the activity coordinates, lifeguard, doorman an spa. I would recommend this resort to any and all of my friends. The staff goes above and beyond to make you comfortable. They take care of every need you have before you even know you had it! We love love love this resort. The staff, the amenities the location on the beach and the friends ( staff ) you meet are forever in our hearts.

At the front door of the hotel there is a sign that says that the hotel was opened in 1987.. once you enter.. it does feel like that not a single day has 1987.
This was a last minute trip to Mazatlan, there to see a sick relative so it was not a regular vacation and planning to just sleep at the hotel.. anyways.. we booked the hotel the same day.. there was no availability anywhere due to "motorcycle fest" so we had no other option.. but.. for the price we were paying I thought it was going to be "good".. WRONG!
The rooms are super old, old tvs, old furniture, old bathroom.. it felt dirty.. it was disgusting..
Maybe we had a "bad" room..
From the front desk to the room was at least a 10 minute walk and the 2 nights we were there the keys did not work.. so off we go to the front desk again..

I would never again stay here.. nor recommend it.. period.

let's say a few years ago you found a perfect, high class and yet reasonably priced, low key resort hotel in mazatlan. it is right on a great stretch of beach, the restaurants on site are fine, the pools are large, so are the rooms, the service is way above average and it appeals greatly to a mature clientele. wonderful! that's what you found in 2011 and 2012 so you return for 5 nights at the end of april and early may in 2014. you find everything just the way you left it, right? well, not quite. for some reason, the general manager has decided that letting some 20ish pool side disc jockey play extremely noisy rap and other such "music" is just what this clientele, about half mixed between mexican and united state families, want. what a nightmare! off and on every day from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. It ruined everything for us. ok, sure, you can go to the south section of the complex where there is another fine pool and no music. hey, dude, we rented near the restaurants on the north end and we don't want to have to walk 300 yards to the quiet pool. needless to say, we have visited PBM for the last time.

Had a very nice time at Pueblo Bonito Mazatlan..two pools...good food...accommodation was great. Bus stop outside hotel. Mainly time share but quite a few of us 'all in'. Lunch was super by the quieter pool...can recommend this hotel for all ages.

Room Tip: Our suite on the fifth floor was large and sunny. All rooms overlook one of the two pools.
