we try to spend 5 weeks in mexico every year. you are accepted at the pueblo bonito, mazatlan, timeshare once every two years. pueblo bonito is a timeshare that also accepts rentals. it is through the timeshare that we stay. if you have a timeshare and are a part of rci, you can spend a wonderful, inexpensive vacation here. we are retired and can go anywhere at the drop of a hat. because of that we go through rci's "last call" vacations. last call is the least expensive way to go to a 5 star, gold crown timeshare for a very inexpensive price.
the pueblo bonito is a magnificent place to stay. we often get a studio apartment. we have rented larger apartments, but the studio suits us nicely. it is certainly large enough for 2 (actually sleeps 4, comfortably) independent people. two double beds, a partial kitchen (2 burner stove, refrig, & microwave) lots of moving around room and the most spectacular view of the pool and the lush gardens.
this is a first class place to stay (rci gold crown) any time of the year. the local bus stop is right outside the front entrance, taxi always available and not too expensive, although the bus is great and cheap. main part of town, with every type of restaurant you can imagine is only minutes away on the bus and within walking distance if you're a walker.
their is always something going on for free or for a reasonable fee, including cooking classes and crafts. there are a few restaurants on site, although we have only eaten at the one directly facing the water, we understand the other one is excellent also.
we spent many long hours in the extremely large and unusually shaped pool, and enjoying the 2 for 1 happy hour in the pool at the pool bar. there are actually two pools, no waiting...let us not forget this place is smack dab on the pacific ocean.
the service people at the condo are wonderful, thoughtful, and very helpful.
the town of mazatlan has every type of shop you can think of or want to shop in. a little way out of town -- a Wal-Mart, what can i say..
one year they didn't have room for us one of the 5 weeks we were going to be there and for that one week we were put into another supposed 'gold crown' resort, closer in town. we were so unhappy there that i called and told rci. the first day we were there. within hours they had us out of that timeshare and pueblo bonito offered to take us back for that week. since we were going to be returning there for the balance of our stay, they put us in a wonderful room, sent us a large fruit basket and a letter saying they were happy we were able to help us return.
we felt this was an effort above and beyond on their part and we really appreciated what they did for us.
the whole ordeal solidified our feeling that this was an exceptional timeshare and we would continue to return whenever we could.
this is one place you can't go wrong, whether your a regular renter or a timeshare user. a stay there will be high up on your list of wonderful places you've stayed, it is on ours.
