“We loved this hotel”
Reviewed February 16, 2012

My friend insisted we pick this hotel, and he was right. The only complaint would hold true for most Mazatlan hotels, lots of traffic noise, but there probably were rooms with less noise than ours. However our fourth floor room had a lovely view of the pool and beach (and hot tub! bonus) screened through palm leaves which afforded us privacy. The food was excellent, staff courteous and friendly, and we participated in the sales trip to Emerald Bay Pueblo Bonito which gave us food bucks at our hotel and a great breakfast and tour over there.
I loved having the kitchenette, and the bed was very comfortable. The sitting room was not so comfortable, but we didn't spend much time there. Everything is very well maintained, and we love the open air hallways and stairs. Don't be fooled by the room service menu however, happy hour is 4-5, not 6-7!! It's easy to get a bus to old Mazatlan or to grocery shopping, but there's also small stores in walking distance for convenience. Just watch out for the too-good-to-be-true deals of guys wanting you to go view their time share deals. No thanks!!

Room Tip: All the rooms face the ocean, but not all have good straight on views of the ocean, some will be fur...

We have been going to this fine resort for over 20 years and it's as good as ever. The people at the hotel are very helpful and the service is terrific. For the resort being as old as it is, the rooms, pools, resturants are maintained well. Although the Emerald Bay Resort is beautiful, we would much rather stay at the old Pueblo Mazatlan. It's close to many resturants, hotels and shops. Try it, you will really enjoy the leisure vacation!!

Room Tip: Higher floors have the best view, and are quieter. Stay away from rooms by the elevator or by the b...

We arrived for the 8th time this year at the end of Janurary to find a noticeful change in Service at the front desk. We waited 15 minutes for a front desk clerk to look up from a journal to help us. At check out we arrived at the front desk to find one desk clerk to help 8 people standing in line at 10 am the usual checkout time. This is very surprising since travel to Mazatlan has plummeted with fears of cartel violence leaving the usually crowded pools with 5 people instead of 100 around them.
Rafeal and Mateo at the pool where at there best offereing the usual exceptional service however pool drinks where an astounding 8 dollars each.
All in all we felt very safe in Mazatlan - the beach is beautiful, as are the people we have got to know these past 10 years. Tony's on the beach for breakfast, the fish market restaurant (always full of locals) and Twisted Mamma's for marguirita's are definites. Next time though we are going to check out condo's on the beach to rent instead.

My husband and I bought a timeshare at Pueblo Bonito Mazatlan several years ago and have never regretted our decision. Every year is a given that we will visit in February to enjoy the colors, accomadations and hospitality. We feel as though we are family when we arrive and are always sad to leave. The staff and accommodations are first class, it is a small piece of Old Mexico. Love the people of Mazatlan and Pueblo Bonito.

When you arrive at the resort, they make you feel like family. The bar, looking over the beach, when the sun is about to set. When the windows are open and the slight wind is blowing through the bar.... you can use the spa, walk on thebeach, be as busy as you want to, or just enjoy the peace.... this is your time, to unwind from the rest of the world. right here, right now...

see you there!!

Room Tip: Most of the rooms over look the beach.... If you want real quiet, then get the rooms to the south...

Just returned from a two week stay in Mazatlan. We have been going to Pueblo Bonito Mazatlan for the last twenty years and would not stay anywhere else. The people of Mazatlan are always friendly and we have always felt very safe walking the streets at any time day or night. The staff of Pueblo Bonito treat you like family and have alway been very attentive to all our needs. They have always done everything to make our stay with them the best it could be. Over the years we have developed a list of special restaurants we love to eat at, however as we also love to eat at Cilanto's and Angelo's which are on the PB property we decided to try one week of their all inclusive plan. It turned out to be wonderful. It allowed us to use both the PB Mazatlan and the Emerald Bay restrauants and even had special nightly themes if you chose to participant. We love it so much that we hope to be returning to PB again in the Fall.

Room Tip: Most of the rooms have a ocean view and all have a balcony. A junior suite is suitable size for a ve...

We spent the first week of january at the PBM resort and thoroughly enjoyed our stay. We had a studio with a kitchenette which was very comfortable. The beds were extremely comfortable. The resort is obviously not new, but it is spotlessly clean and well maintained. We were lucky enough to have an ocean view room, and enjoyed watching the sunset from our balcony. The resort was very quiet, we never had any problems finding a good spot by the pool. Mazatlan seemed much quieter in general this year, probably due to the tourist warnings. The airport was nearly empty when we arrived , and we didn't even have to dodge the timeshare sales people this time! I have to say that at no time did we feel unsafe.

One of the perks of staying at PBM was thst it was within easy walking distance to several good restaurants. Panchos is right across the street, and we had two excellent meals there includung fresh red snapper. they brought the whole fish to the table for our inspection before cooking it. Delicious! We made the trip down to Chili's pepper for lunch a couple of times as well and had fresh shrimp fahita's and Pacificos with a fantastic ocean view. Of course we had to go to Gus Y Gus one evening and have the coconut shrimp as well, but we took one of the Pulmonias for 50 pesos. It was a bit chilly, but a lot faster than walking! We had breakfast at the resort each day, which was very affordable and the omelets were delicious. We were not as impressed with the dinners we had at Cilantros. They were rather pricy and not as tasty as what we could get at any of the area restaurants.

We took the free shuttle from PBM to the Emerald Bay. While I have to admit that the PBEB is beautiful, it is also enormous. We decided it would have taken us all week just to figure out where we were going. The really big difference was the beach. The beach at PBEB is very rocky and not near as nice as the one at PBM.

The highlight of our trip was a whalewatching expeditionOnca Explorations. Saol Herrera was our guide and was very knowledgible and friendly. We were fortunate enough to see five humpback whales that put on quite a show for us. Large pods of bottlenose dolphins refused to be ignored and put on quite a show as well. We also saw one sealion sunning himself as well. The trip was well worth the money.

This was our second trip to Mazatlan, and we would go again in a heartbeat!

Room Tip: The pasta night is not worth the money.
