Description: Rico's Cafe opened in 2000 as Mazatlan´s only cafe. Our simple desire was to inspire customers by offering an inviting place to enjoy Mexico's best coffees prepared by our expert baristas. Today we enjoy a loyal following of locals as well as tourists who seek out our homemade breakfasts, sandwiches, salads and specialty crepes. We also offer freshly-baked breads and pastries, frappes and imported teas, in addition to our coffees which we roast on the premises. Rico's terraces are a great place for groups to gather, our booths are ideal for private conversations and our long tables in front of the main bar are great for people watching and meeting others. Free high-speed Internet, music and personalized service make this a second home for many customers. You will leave inspired, and say "Que rico!"

“Favorite place for breakfast in Mexico!”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed January 7, 2013

I can't say enough good things about Rico's... the coffee, the food, and the atmosphere are all wonderful! Where people say they fall short is in service, and while I can understand why they would say that, I do not agree. Coming from the US we tend to expect a certain style and level of service. What we often fail to acknowledge is that customs are different in other countries and in Mexico, certain things are are not taken for granted. For instance, in the US when people sit down they are immediately asked what they want to drink and then the orders are taken right away. In Mexico, people sit down, get comfortable, order their drinks and often chat before ordering their meal - Mexican wait staff are used to this and do not assume that everyone immediately wants to order and receive their meal vs. making a dining and social experience out of the meal. The same thing happens when you are done with the meal... your check comes to you generally after you ask for it, not before - to bring you the check before would be considered rude, like they are pushing you to leave. Other things are dealt with on a case-by-case basis... for instance, one of the individuals in our party wanted a glass of milk but milk is not sold strictly by the glass. The waiter was able to bring out two small pitchers of milk and a small glass to accommodate them as a work around - we had to pour the milk into the glass and some may find this silly or frivolous, but it's just Mexico. The morning we arrived they were very busy, but the service was friendly and timely. Letting your server know that you are in a hurry or would like to order your meal straight away and receive the check in the same manner will most likely net you the level of service you are seeking but remember, you may just be missing something else (living) in the process! ;)

“Good food, bad service”
1 of 5 bubbles Reviewed January 3, 2013

This place has very good food and coffee but their service is usually bad and it was just horrible during my last visit. I visited the place with my wife and kids and we ordered breakfast but we waited more than 1 hour and we didn't even get the drinks so we just left the place.
They only have a couple of waiters and they get flustered.
The place would be better with better service.

“A GREAT PLACE FOR COFFEE LOVERS”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed December 21, 2012

When we are back in Canada we talk about having coffee in Rico's. Spending our winters here we were very pleased to find a place that has great coffee. The outside patio is a wonderful spot to people watch, read or listen to the great music playing. The staff are friendly and speak english. There is also a good menu to choose from. We hop the bus from Centro a few times a week to have our fix, then a walk on the beach and bus back to Centro. Rico's at the Marina is also excellent. If you love coffee like we do you will enjoy Rico's.
