We just returned from a six day trip to Manzanillo. We stayed at the Holiday Inn using Reward nights. Overall the hotel met our expectations. The front desk staff (Luis, Fransisco and Xiomara)spoke English well and were very helpful and accommodating. We had a quiet room on the second floor. The beds were extremely comfortable and the pillows were great. We did not have a fridge in our room and thought it would be convenient to have one so we simply called the front desk and they wheeled one into our room within minutes. The bathroom had a large shower. The hotel has a nice pool area with lounge chairs and a child friendly shallow extension suitable for children. There was also a slide and swing set at the far end of the pool that the young children seemed to enjoy. Each morning the free breakfast included a variety of choices from scrambled eggs, bacon, beans, a variety of mexican hot dishes, yogurt, fresh fruit, pastries, toast, juices, tea and coffee. Each day many of the dishes were the same but there was also one or two new meats or mexican dishes offered with the name of the dish well labelled. The hotel was busy yet the staff efficiently kept up with the supply of food and made sure both the inside and outside tables were available to guest arriving for breakfast. Although breakfast was posted to end at 10:30 the staff did not hurry guest out of the breakfast area. There was Wi Fi available throughout the hotel and at one point when we were having difficulty with it they came and fixed it promptly. There were also three desktop computers available in the foyer to use for 1/2 hour intervals. The fitness center had two treadmills, an elliptical machine and a stationary bicycle. This hotel is geared toward business coming from the port and is not near any beaches but there is a bus stop in front of the hotel and for 7 pesos (60 cents) one can ride a bus to almost any where. We often rode all the way to Miramar beach and enjoyed riding with the locals. We also took cabs which are inexpensive (about 90 pesos ...7 dollars to Miramar beach which was our favorite) There is a convenience store about a block away but other than that there were not any restaurants close by. There is a bank on the same property as the hotel. If we were to return to Manzanillo I would definitely consider returning to this clean modern hotel where the manager and his staff are friendly and eager to serve. There is free shuttle service to the airport which is about a 40 minute drive.
